The green and brown heart often flowered with colour and brilliance once held green routes and always held runs and pathways and those routes brought more traffic to open up the forest and to field and stockade farm the valleys. Today the modern roads take us exactly where we wish with digital precision on our phones directing our feet and our vehicles. The roads take us on journeys over the land and through history opening up access to the modern and to the ancient and we have had more freedom of movement for every reason we have from trade and tourism to refuge to and escape from what the roads have brought into our lives. We had travel to broaden our perspective and flight to reach across the globe and technology to virtually bring our home and our individual life onto each of the screens all over the world sharing emotion and making fantastic new versions and aversions of living. Our routes to reach each other have stretched from nomadic paths and star guided voyages to much of the world being only a search away on any of our modern devices all connected via routes like roots that become popular and well traced as well as little utilised and left to dwindle. We have greater access to humanity than ever before and we take the routes we wish to connect us as we will. Our new virtual routes following our expressed emotions are filled with animal inspired pathways, we still search for tracks and traces following the paths of animals across an electronic terrain. Many human take time to view remote natural wonders and we have our intense interactive focus on food for the mind and the body and for the soul. Paths once through the natural green and brown and multicoloured heart of the land and now across globe spanning highways brought me here and now you too.

Just like I don’t have the right to tell my neighbor not to watch Family Guy because it violates my ethics, you don’t have the right to create a global firewall sponsored by greedy entertainment lobbyists whose main motivation is money, not advancing technology, society or humankind. #learnfromiraq

As a photographer who has recently been in a bit of media spotlight for my stand on using photos/media without consent or for free, taking a side of PIPA/SOPA was something I’d have to do a little bit of research about. No, I don’t like it when people use my photos without asking. Yes, I’m insulted when someone asks to use my photo without paying for it. But I also have to remember, how else am I going to get my work exposed? Not by print sales and hoping they get put up in trendy restaurants, or in a coffee table book. Internet, yo!

The only reason I got to where I am now is by drawing upon the influence of others on Flickr or searching the interwebz for others who have blazed the trails for the rest of us. I’ve found new locations, learned new techniques, and even stood right next to people taking the exact same shot. Without seeing others work, or having the resources of the internet available we would be stuck in the 70s, and only Disco J would want that.

I’m afraid if SOPA and PIPA get passed, there are going to be secret agents all around us, and when we jokingly quote Anchorman to each other, some agent is going to smack us in the face and staple a citation to our chest. We’ll each have to have our own copyright lawyers walk around with us because God forbid we say something that’s been copyrighted and we don’t have the artist’s permission to quote it.

Yes, if you have a video camera and copy a movie and sell it, that’s wrong. If you download music and use it to promote your website or advertising, that is wrong. If you use someone’s photo for your website/publication without them knowing about it, that is wrong. But if your cute kid recites a Justin Bieber song on Youtube… that’s a crime too?

Come on, Hollywood. Use some common sense. The internet has HELPED you become successful, and helps spread the word of new music, movies, technology, books, etc. I can’t share a 20sec video clip of Anchorman to a friend? What is the worst that could happen… they might like it and maybe buy the DVD? I wouldn’t be able to take a photo of Disney Concert Hall because it’s considered “a work of art” and I don’t have the architect’s permission to photograph it and can be arrested? What is this world coming to?

By the way, everything I just said is copyrighted. Every word. If any of you use any word mentioned above, I’ll SHUT YOU DOWN. And if you make me really upset, I'm going to tell Al Gore to shut the Internet down since he invented it!

According to one United Nations estimate, 113 to 200 million women are “demographically missing” from the world today. That is to say, there should be 113 to 200 million more women walking the earth, who aren’t. By that same estimate, 1.5 to 3 million women and girls lose their lives every year because of gender-based neglect or gender-based violence and Sexual Violence in Conflict ( Read more about UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict www.stoprapenow.org/ ). Millions of young women disappear in their native land every year. Many of them are found later being held against their will in other places and forced into prostitution. According to the UNICEF ( www.unicef.org/gender/index_factsandfigures.html ),Girls between 13 and 18 years of age constitute the largest group in the sex industry. It is estimated that around 500,000 girls below 18 are victims of trafficking each year. United Nations agencies estimated that every year 3 million girls are at risk of undergoing the procedure – which involves the partial or total removal of external female genital organs – that some 140 million women, mostly in Asia, the Middle East and in Africa, have already endured. We can point a finger at poverty. But poverty alone does not result in these women’s deaths and suffering; the blame also falls on the social system and attitudes of the societies.

India alone accounts for more than 50 million of the women who are “missing” due to female foeticide - the sex-selective abortion of girls, dowry death, gender-based neglect and all forms of violence against women.

Since the late 1970s when the technology for sex determination first came into being, sex selective abortion has unleashed a saga of horror in India. Experts are calling it "sanitized barbarism".The 2001 Census conducted by Government of India, showed a sharp decline in the child sex ratio in 80% districts of India. The Census Report of 2001 reveals a highly skewed child sex ratio (0-6 year-olds), that fell from 945 females per 1,000 males in 1991 to an all-time low of 927 in 2001. Additional data from the India’s birth and death registration service indicates that the figures have further fallen to fewer than 900 females per 1,000 men over the last few years. In some parts of the country, the sex ratio of girls to boys has dropped to less than 800:1,000. It's alarming that even liberal states like those in the northeast have taken to disposing of girls. Worryingly, the trend is far stronger in urban rather than rural areas, and among literate rather than illiterate women, exploding the myth that growing affluence and spread of basic education alone will result in the erosion of gender bias.

The United Nations has expressed serious concern about the situation.

Over the years, laws have been made stricter and the punishment too is more stringent now. But since many people manage to evade punishment, others too feel inclined to take the risk. Just look at the way sex-determination tests go on despite a stiff ban on them. Only if the message goes out loud and clear that nobody who dares to snuff out the life of a female foetus would escape effective legal system would the practice end. It is only by a combination of monitoring, education, socio-cultural campaigns, and effective legal implementation that the deep-seated attitudes and practices against women and girls can be eroded.

The decline in the sex ratio and the millions of Missing Women are indicators of the feudal patriarchal resurgence. Violence against women has gone public – whether it is dowry murders,the practice of female genital mutilation , honour killings, sex selective abortions or death sentences awarded to young lovers from different communities by caste councils, rapes and killings in communal and caste violence, it is only women’s and human rights groups who are protesting – the public and institutional response to these trends is very minimal.

Millions of women suffer from discrimination in the world of work. This not only violates a most basic human right, but has wider social and economic consequences. Most of the governments turn a blind eye to illegal practices and enact and enforce discriminatory laws. Corporations and private individuals engage in abusive and discriminatory practices without fear of legal system. Sexual harassment and violence in the workplace are common and constant threats to working women’s lives and livelihoods.

More women are working now than ever before, but they are also more likely than men to get low-productivity, low-paid and vulnerable jobs, with no social protection, basic rights nor voice at work according to a new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) issued for International Women’s Day 2008.

My Internet had went down for a majority of the day so I made this while I waited for it to come back online. I have a couple of 0.7 WIPs too so don't worry, I'll be right back to 0.7. Expect them to be done later hopefully. If not, I'll be sure to try to finish and upload them tomorrow.

It's a direct energy SMG with a red dot sight, featuring a lock on reticle that makes shots land where the reticle is locked on to. Also it has red. As well as some mistakes that I noticed way too late that I'm too lazy to correct and replace the image with.

Degradation of the Internet- a Political Rant

Alright, I think it’s time to find out who my real friends are. No, I won’t block you if you disagree with me, but I definitely will if you don’t treat my opinions with the respect that I treat yours. I think the internet is going to hell, as politics have been for decades. No longer is it about an honest debate between who has the best solution, but an ongoing flamewar of people telling each other to fuck themselves if they don’t share the same beliefs. I will hereby cover some topics in my “terrorist narrow, minded, homophobic, racist, sexist, bigoted” point of view. And yes, I have been called all those things. And now without further ado…

-‘MERICA!

Who the fuck came up with that anyway? The United States was never intended to be a mindlessly nationalistic country filled with sheep. Yes, we’re not perfect, just like any country, but I, the patriot, can admit that. I think this country was supposed to be an eternal work in progress, to try out new social and political ideas and their effect on society. And being a patriot, I can understand that not all of the ideas worked, and some were definitely slowed down, but that doesn’t mean that the country as a whole is bad. And I can also admit that other nations do things better than us.

-Guns

You guys probably know me well enough to understand that I do in fact, love them. In addition, I feel like an activist for the second amendment. What some people don’t understand, is that guns really don’t kill people. It takes an actual person to pull the trigger, and assault is a BEHAVIOR, not an object. But after reading DJB’s thoughts, I can understand where he’s coming from. It is not the gun that is the problem, but the user of said device. I do think that some people that shouldn’t buy guns do anyway, and bans wouldn’t actually work. Just look at the black market, or “underground economy.” People that really want a gun will get one some way or another, even if it’s through illegal means. And they don’t even have to use a gun, right? I’ve heard stories of people getting killed by gangs using railroad ties, and you can’t forget knives. If abiders of the law are unarmed, then it’s a lot easier to stab them, correct? In addition to this, carrying does make a difference. Just look at Switzerland- they arm and train their civilians with automatic weapons, and they still maintain the lowest crime rate of any civilized nation. And as a closer example, Washington D.C. had a higher crime rate than Iraq at one point. But if we look back at Switzerland, we’ll find that they are responsible with their firearms. They don’t go on nearly as many killing sprees due to the fact that they would get cut to shreds with all the assault weapons everyone is carrying in public. And frankly, if somebody pulled a weapon on you, which item would you rather have? Your fist or a pistol? Oh yeah, and I will pull the half of the second amendment that nobody pays attention to out: “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” IT has been said that it is the last opportunity to defend yourself against tyranny.

-Using Death as a Sick Punch Line

The Holocaust, 9/11, Pearl Harbor, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Dark Knight shooting, Columbine, etc. were all tragedies for sure, and people tend to forget about that. At my school, I constantly hear this drug-infused kid joking about all of them. Yes, death is a natural thing, BUT SURE AS HELL NOT WHEN SEVERAL THOUSAND ARE KILLED IN ONE INCIDENT! I don't care what country it takes place in, or who they are, or what their beliefs are, but the dead deserve some fucking respect.

Tl;dr, right? Well, thank you for your time if you actually read it, and if not, then whatever. All I ask is that this be taken seriously. That’s pretty much all I have to say right now, and if you’re uncomfortable with having a conservative that’s been quiet long enough as a contact, then I bid ye farewell.
