Sorry I haven't been on in a few days, our router for wireless internet died and the only way I can get internet it to use my parents' computer - so I get it pretty rarely. Plus my mom seems determined to kill me by signing me up for countless afterschool activities (I think I won't even have time to breathe), so that makes me rather busy. :P

Anyway here's a shot I took yesterday afternoon; I was just sitting on the back porch and realized that I was surrounded by birds, seriously. I saw blue jays & this little crazy woodpecker who wasn't scared of humans (I was about a meter and a half away), however he flew away when the cat arrived! I think we're getting this abundance of birds because of the neighbour's pear tree. :)

I'd love comments & criticism!

Found this amazing sculpture on the internet and simply had to give it a visit!

It's called the Singing Ringing Tree as when the wind blows through the pipes it creates a humming sound. It sounded extremely eerie and added I must admit it kept me on edge while I was there.

Designed by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu, the Singing Ringing Tree is a 3 metre tall construction comprising pipes of galvanised steel which harness the energy of the wind to produce a slightly discordant and penetrating choral sound covering a range of several octaves. Some of the pipes are primarily structural and aesthetic elements, while others have been cut across their width enabling the sound. The harmonic and singing qualities of the tree were produced by tuning the pipes according to their length by adding holes to the underside of each.

All done in 1 exposure, no additions or photoshopping :)

The sculpture was lit with the following torches and accessories available from my sponsors www.brightlites.co.uk:

LED Lenser P7 torch

LED Lenser P7 Intelligent Clip.

The other day, like milions of other people, I saw the new photoshoot for Paper Magazine of Kim Kardashian where they promised to break the internet. Obviously that didn't happen. I really don't understand how the naked photos of someone who already has a sextape out are that shocking. But well, I think they are pretty funny, and I wanted to try it.

My butt is not ready for the world, so I went with the champagne trick. I had a bottle of a really cheap wine (it smells like vinager) and I wanted to get rid of it without having to actually ingest the damn thing.

There are various things wrong with the photo, but it was fun. Check out the 'making of' of this photo at adriapujol.com/breaking-the-internet-or-my-back/

The Internet never forget – Fist invisible art documented on Internet

This art has moved from counterculture to collector culture, it has started

to become more consumable. Wall drawings by Sol LeWitt, a founding father of conceptualism, were once about reducing visual art to the raw ideas that

shape it. Watching LeWitt’s raw ideas become high-end collectibles may be

what has led some younger artists to seek a more ironclad evanescence. Tino

Sehgal, who was born in London in 1976 and is now based in Berlin, simply

makes strange things happen in the world, without any records or photos

permitted. A collector who “buys” a Sehgal—they now run around $100,000,

a pittance in Art Basel terms—doesn’t even get a certificate to prove it:

the transaction is conducted in cash, before witnesses, without paperwork

to soil its purity. That was good enough for collectors who “own” a Sehgal

that consists of a museum guard slowly removing every shred of his clothes.

(There being no guards in the Gensollens’ home, so far the piece has come

alive only when they’ve “lent” it to museums.) Her husband chimes in:

“When the work is immaterial, we’re just its temporary holders. Accumulating fancy goods is absurd. We buy works to talk about them, and to stretch people’s notions of what art is…But some people want the opposite: a reassuring object with a big name.”

Art Basel Aaron and Barbara Levine, veteran collectors from Washington,

D.C., were looking for rarefied work that was maybe more important than

the showstoppers. And, as it happens, barely even there.

Other artists title their whole art show not just a work – The Invisible

Show when the reviewer writes how a work is indeed “too visible” (hidden

sort of Christo like wrapping of objects.)

Hayward gallery in London received a lot of publicity and a lot of big

time “visibility” for the Invisible show in 2012.

Projects called invisible generation and info explains that the audience

does not necessarily expect to find artwork.

Attempts to write Brief History of Invisible art.

One artist is covering Europe in Invisible Graffiti (he gets more attention now

than the billion of others artists who are covering Europe in visible graffiti).

SOCIAL USE of the word invisible as it gained wide popularity: describing

social problems use word invisible in context: Older seems to equal invisible.

New terms in various uses Chronic Social Invisibility.

Architectural concept – infinity2Tower Infinity South Korea’s invisible

skyscraper (the idea gets public visibility and attention with comments

such as:

Very idea of it just SCREAMS “Flight Hazard”.

The South Korean government has granted approval to begin construction

on what will be the world’s first “invisible” tower. Called the Infinity

Tower, it will be equipped with an LED facade system and optical cameras to give it a reflective skine” and a striking translucent appearance.

A simple art project by an ordinary art student has been making quite a

stir worldwide, with images of her cleverly painted ‘invisible car‘ appearing in publications around the world.

(Must be quite entertaining, with such potential for “the hazard of driving and texting in the invisible car” comments)

Artists with inclinations to philosophy such as Yves Klein take photo of a

cabinet and title it: “Zone of Immaterial Pictorial sensibility” in Duchampian fashion of giving names to silly items and perform this “artistic transformation.” Still the picture is just a photo of an empty bookcase or whatever…

Just one of the many internets

internet

One of five images created for an exhibition about conflict. This series is about the people we appear to be on the internet, in comparison to who we may really be offline.

Dear United States – you do not own the internet. You have no right enforcing what other countries do, good or bad. Just like I don’t have the right to tell my neighbor not to watch Family Guy because it violates my ethics, you don’t have the right to create a global firewall sponsored by greedy entertainment lobbyists whose main motivation is money, not advancing technology, society or humankind. #learnfromiraq

As a photographer who has recently been in a bit of media spotlight for my stand on using photos/media without consent or for free, taking a side of PIPA/SOPA was something I’d have to do a little bit of research about. No, I don’t like it when people use my photos without asking. Yes, I’m insulted when someone asks to use my photo without paying for it. But I also have to remember, how else am I going to get my work exposed? Not by print sales and hoping they get put up in trendy restaurants, or in a coffee table book. Internet, yo!

The only reason I got to where I am now is by drawing upon the influence of others on Flickr or searching the interwebz for others who have blazed the trails for the rest of us. I’ve found new locations, learned new techniques, and even stood right next to people taking the exact same shot. Without seeing others work, or having the resources of the internet available we would be stuck in the 70s, and only Disco J would want that.

I’m afraid if SOPA and PIPA get passed, there are going to be secret agents all around us, and when we jokingly quote Anchorman to each other, some agent is going to smack us in the face and staple a citation to our chest. We’ll each have to have our own copyright lawyers walk around with us because God forbid we say something that’s been copyrighted and we don’t have the artist’s permission to quote it.

Yes, if you have a video camera and copy a movie and sell it, that’s wrong. If you download music and use it to promote your website or advertising, that is wrong. If you use someone’s photo for your website/publication without them knowing about it, that is wrong. But if your cute kid recites a Justin Bieber song on Youtube… that’s a crime too?

Come on, Hollywood. Use some common sense. The internet has HELPED you become successful, and helps spread the word of new music, movies, technology, books, etc. I can’t share a 20sec video clip of Anchorman to a friend? What is the worst that could happen… they might like it and maybe buy the DVD? I wouldn’t be able to take a photo of Disney Concert Hall because it’s considered “a work of art” and I don’t have the architect’s permission to photograph it and can be arrested? What is this world coming to?

By the way, everything I just said is copyrighted. Every word. If any of you use any word mentioned above, I’ll SHUT YOU DOWN. And if you make me really upset, I'm going to tell Al Gore to shut the Internet down since he invented it!

Further your opinions on my Facebook before it's censored down too.

Wonder where the INTERNET is? Now you have the answer.

Here's the joke:

My neighbor has a puppy he's giving away (FREE!).

It's a Dachshund, it's house broken,

and it's great with kids.

He's giving it away because his wife

says the dog 'stares' at her when she is undressing, and

that gives her the 'Heebie Jeebies'. I think she is just weird !

If you're interested, or know someone who is, let me know.

Here's a picture of the dog.
