92011 hauling this evening's 6L21 1933 Dollands Moor - Ripple Lane Exchange Sdgs on the high speed line, running about 10 minutes late having been recessed in Lenham Loop for a late-running Eurostar to pass. Taken from Hockers Lane Bridge, Detling, Kent.

Had to take this with the kit zoom lens, 1000th/sec at f5.6, ISO 2000 - I need to get myself a decent prime lens! Some sunshine would have helped though.

I've no record of when I took this photo but it would have been late 1980s to early 1990s.

This shows two Class 09 shunting locos working together to load (or unload!) the rail deck of the trainferry 'Nord Pas De Calais' at Dover's Western Docks.

This is the new linkspan, which had been constructed during the 1980s. The linkspan it replaced was in a much more restricted area of the older inner dock area and was dependent on the use of a lock to enable the ferry to be raised or lowered to the height of the railway.

Building the new linkspan further out along the dock meant that there was space to allow for a ramp which could be moved to match the tides and thus the height of the ship's rail deck. The width of the berth was no longer a problem either, once the lock arrangement became unnecessary which in turn meant that the larger 'Nord pas de Calais' could be used.

It was necessary to shunt with two locos at all times to avoid the ship listing precariously if only one side was loaded or unloaded at a time. I believe that the rail deck on the ship had a total of four 'roads'.

The 'Nord Pas de Calais' still sails to Dover, but is now operated by Seafrance and carries lorries/trucks/trailers only between Dover Eastern Docks and Calais.

Crossrail's leased motive power working through Switzerland produces some of the less presentable examples of traction to be seen. This view of TRAXX (DACH) 185 596 working the International Freight 40235 of T.T.S. logistics units from Bierset-Awans, near Liège, Belgium to Piacenza, Italy via the Lötschbergbahn provides a prime example of such accumulated grime and lack of basic cleaning.
