... Debora Statuto dice: "Certe strade portano a Dio ...."

Although these beautiful parrots are intermittent visitors to my yard, they are always welcome. Female parrots, seen here on the right, are more common and may be seen in small groups. They come for the bird seed and pay me no attention, often feeding very close to my feet.
The flight pattern was amazing. A wild combination of straight flight and intermittent sheer drops, sometimes with a roll ! What a show !

Due to personal misalignments I wasn't and will still not be able to be here much in the next weeks/months.I have no intention to completely give up on Flickr but I expect my presence here to be very intermittent so I will totally understand if you will choose to be less active on my account. Still hope you will keep me in your contacts as I will eventually be back in a more sustainable manner.
For now all I can do is say thank you so much for your friendship and support that mean a lot to me and wish you a wonderful Summer!

Oh, and the Scottish National Monument without many visitors due to intermittent rain showers yesterday. (In fact you can see where there was a raindrop on my lens. Sigh.) Just back from Edinburgh with the gang. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Paysage
Pas une feuille qui bouge,
Pas un seul oiseau chantant ;
Au bord de l'horizon rouge
Un éclair intermittent ;
D'un côté, rares broussailles,
Sillons à demi noyés,
Pans grisâtres de murailles,
Saules noueux et ployés ;
De l'autre, un champ que termine
Un large fossé plein d'eau,
Une vieille qui chemine
Avec un pesant fardeau,
Et puis la route qui plonge
Dans le flanc des coteaux bleus,
Et comme un ruban s'allonge
En minces plis onduleux.

04-May-2022: this lake is the largest in Slovenija, excluding from the account the karst/intermittent lake of Cerknica (Cerkniško jezero, Notranjska, 38km2), which, at its maximum size, is over 12X larger, but, as we know, is less and less present also at minimum dimensions.
Lake Bohinj has a tributary, the Savica, while its emissary is the Sava Bohinjka, one of the two spring branches that flows into the other, the longer Sava Dolinka (Zelenci), between the towns of Lesce and Radovljica, giving life to the longest and important river of all the former Jugoslavija.
Sava ends with a vast delta in Belgrade/Beograd (Serbia), becoming a tributary of the Danube, after a 990km journey from the Julian Alps.
The Lagoa de Óbidos is a lagoon that extends between the municipalities of Óbidos and Caldas da Rainha, in the Oeste subregion of Portugal.
It is situated in a shallow depression, defined by unstable irregular contours close to the sea; it is a natural barrier that separate the Atlantic Ocean and marine biome from the river ecosystem of Foz do Arelho formed by lateral dunes. Its connection to the sea is made across an intermittent channel, whose transitional zone that requires timely interventions to maintain its access.

I like this shot and have no idea why. Maybe because it reminds me of visiting my son. Walking with our cameras and capturing amazing light during the intermittent spring rain.
Almost three years ago I uploaded a photograph similar to this one taken in the same place (charcos del rio grande in Quesa -Valencia-) and with the same protagonists, except that on this occasion the spider is much better appreciated (in the previous one it was more camouflaged under the sheet).
The male of Gomphus graslinii would perch intermittently on this innkeeper, controlling one of its territories, while the arachnid moved cautiously under the leaf.

Yesterday morning I traveled early to the upper reaches of the Tieton River basan above Rimrock Reservoir and found 5 Sparuce Grouse. The light was poor but I managed to get a few photos. It was 37 F when I started hiking and intermittent light rain was falling so it was difficult to keep the camera dry and at the same time get photos in very dim light. Fortunately for photographers these birds are not timid. Then again, maybe it is unfortunate that people and presumably coyotes and other predator can easily approach them. There are only 2 places in Yakima County, Washington where these birds have been seen in recent years They are rare in this part of Washington State. These birds
are the Franklin subspecies.
I appreciate the views, invites, comments and faves. Thank you all.
On this day, we just drove around the region and tried to find something for us to shoot. The weather did not promise anything interesting, low clouds, it snowed intermittently. The day before it was foggy, so all the trees were covered in frost. We had to find some river that had not yet frozen. At some point, we just turned off the highway onto a country path and continued on foot. After a few kilometers we came to a bridge across the river. Heavy snow began. And this is how it turned out in the photo
Shot during the brief bursts of sunlight that shone bright intermittently during the day. A small opening in the canopy led to this brightly lit scene. The Grey Treepie in the front didn't get the light though.
These are common Woodpeckers in the Himalayan region and they are found aplenty on various trees pecking. We also sighted them sometimes around areas where food was available like near some roadside restaurants etc.. This is a fairly large woodpecker compared to those I see in South India.
Thank you so much for your views, favorites and feedback. Much appreciated!
I took myself off to Collyford reservoir for a sunset/sunrise shoot. It was lovely when I left home, got to Bodmin Moor and it was drizzling. Out with the umbrella, fortunately it soon became intermittent. The water level was not as low as I expected but it still exposed some of the shrubs which had long been submerged by the flooding of the reservoir. I had a good nights sleep in the van but woke to thick mist. Oh well I made the effort.

Many of the oldest and most important structures of the ancient city were located on or near the Forum. The Roman Kingdom's earliest shrines and temples were located on the southeastern edge. These included the ancient former royal residence, the Regia (8th century BC), and the Temple of Vesta (7th century BC), as well as the surrounding complex of the Vestal Virgins, all of which were rebuilt after the rise of imperial Rome.
Other archaic shrines to the northwest, such as the Umbilicus Urbis and the Vulcanal (Shrine of Vulcan), developed into the Republic's formal Comitium (assembly area). This is where the Senate—as well as Republican government itself—began. The Senate House, government offices, tribunals, temples, memorials and statues gradually cluttered the area.
Over time the archaic Comitium was replaced by the larger adjacent Forum and the focus of judicial activity moved to the new Basilica Aemilia (179 BC). Some 130 years later, Julius Caesar built the Basilica Julia, along with the new Curia Julia, refocusing both the judicial offices and the Senate itself. This new Forum, in what proved to be its final form, then served as a revitalized city square where the people of Rome could gather for commercial, political, judicial and religious pursuits in ever greater numbers.
Eventually much economic and judicial business would transfer away from the Forum Romanum to the larger and more extravagant structures (Trajan's Forum and the Basilica Ulpia) to the north. The reign of Constantine the Great saw the construction of the last major expansion of the Forum complex—the Basilica of Maxentius (312 AD). This returned the political center to the Forum until the fall of the Western Roman Empire almost two centuries later.
