I'm not going to assume anyone noticed I've been neglecting this flickr stream for a couple weeks, but I'll go ahead and explain anyway. XD As it may or may not be apparent, I have a ridiculous number of things that I call hobbies… as a result I sometimes frustrate myself with how little I sometimes get done over the course of bouncing around between them. It's highly satisfying to have so much on my mind (I have lived with ADHD all my life, and I have always loved it… I really don't understand the folks that feel haunted by their ADD).

What I do get, though, is the fact that I sometimes get so enthralled with all my various hobbies and interests that I can't stop and focus on one thing long enough to see it through from start to finish (even though bouncing around is mentally and emotional satisfying). I sort of bounce around doing little bits at a time at each hobby, occasionally getting glued down and able to do large scale projects -which is the most satisfying of all. Oddly this problem doesn't happen to me when I'm in a structured work environment… but if I'm at home spending time for myself? All bets are off.

Anyway, so my recent obsession has been Second Life (which I tried before, but it's way waaaay more awesome now, 5~6 years ago when I tried it the first time I thought it was confusing, frustrating, and lame). My opinion has now been completely reversed and I am really really loving it so far.

Just to be clear, I'm not using Second Life as a primary social experience (I'm making contacts and friends just by being there and discussing fashion and design though, of course), I'm mostly in it for the same reasons I like to dress up and photograph dolls and design websites.

It combines many of my favorite things (dolls, fashion, photography, and graphic design)… and as I'm realizing, I can add many of my other interests into this mix as well.

I've always had at decent amount of interest in interior decor and design (even since middle school days), but since I'm the woman with a hundred hobbies, it always got pushed back and back and back as other competing interests jockeyed back and forth for the spotlight. One day when we think we have "settled in" somewhere, I'll probably invest more effort in real interior design and decor... but for now, I don't want to get too attached to my living spaces.

Second Life has renewed this interest, especially since -in a digital "landscape" as it were- it's much more accessible, and "doable" in a realistic time frame (since I don't have the budget or the skill set to be a real interior designer). As I'm already highly skilled in creating graphics, I can now apply this skill set to my interest in interior design, effectively turning it into a hobby (well, impending, "coming soon" hobby, lol).

That having been said, I now felt more comfortable investing in some of the interiors design books I've been mooning over for months (or years in some cases). Soooo, this is a photo of me doing some research. lol

Oh oh oh... and, if you would like to see what I'm up to in Second Life have a peek here: www.flickr.com/photos/pixelminx/ and maybe add me as a contact over there if you like what you see. :)
