Week 48/52, 2015
This week’s theme for my 52 project is “Interior Design.” This is my final shot for my project. I have been wanting to go photograph these spiral staircases at the Royal York for a while. Unfortunately, my 23mm lens wasn’t wide enough to capture everything. I took four shots and combined them as a panorama.

With this larger family room, I realized very early on that I cannot use a vibrant wallpaper. I attempted several different wallpapers but they all made the space appear to be much smaller than it actually is. I finally found and settled on, after many hours of searching, this very subtle white/cream coloured woven wallpaper. It gives the walls a bit of texture, which is what I have been endlessly trying to do, while not being loud and in your face.
In terms of the actual decor, I opted to go for mostly white furniture while throwing in pops of blue to add colour to the space. I wanted this space to feel sophisticated, which I think it definitely does. Sophistication aside, I also wanted the space to feel inviting and usable. This is not one of those rooms that you strictly just look at and don't spend any time in. You can host your friends, take a nap on the couch or binge watch a Netflix series in 24 hours (watch House of Cards, thank me later)
As I mentioned before, I will be posting more interior shots of the other rooms in the home over the next few days. Please bare in mind I currently have the flu and feel like complete garbage so I may not be posting the remaining shots as quickly as I have been with the others.
