Interior of the Melk Abbey Church.
To some critics, the Melk Abbey Church decor is excessively busy, even for a baroque interior. But there's no denying that the overall effect is striking. Precious frescos, paintings, statues, marble embellishments, and a golden altar fill nearly every wall and ceiling space.
Originally only a Baroquization of the abbey church was planned. However, after 1701, at Abbot Berthold Dietmayr’s instigation, a complete reconstruction of the church took place following plans by Jakob Prandtauer.
The artistic decoration of the church were prominent masters in their fields: Antonio Beduzzi (interior design, sketches for the frescoes), Johann Michael Rottmayr (frescoes, altar paintings), Paul Troger (altar paintings), Giuseppe Galli-Bibiena (designs for the pulpit and high altar), Lorenzo Mattielli (design for the sculptures), and Peter Widerin (sculptures).
The left side altar in the transept contains the skeleton of St. Coloman in a sarcophagus. The altar to the right is dedicated to St. Benedict but the sarcophagus is empty.
A ten year restoration of the church, financed with help from the state and federal government, was finished in 1987.

The Magen Hassidim Synagogue was formerly known as the Jacob Circle Jewish New Prayer Hall, and was built in 1904. A separate plot of land was acquired at the nearby site in Madarpura, the Synagogue building was completed and opened in 1931. Most Jewish marriages and Bar Mitzvaha's are solemnized in this Synagogue. Only Bene Israel carpenters were employed for the wood work in the sacred edifice, and they gave their services free. The Synagogue is large enough for a congregation of 1,000 and has a pleasant exterior and interior design.

The high point of the baroque monastery is the church. Following the wishes of the abbot and monastic community, this is intended to make the religious purpose of the entire construction and its orientation towards God clearly visible. The leitmotif “ABSIT GLORIARI NISI INCRUCE” (Glory is found only in the cross) is found in the inscription over the Benedict Hall at the beginning of the tour, and continues through the abbey to the church, in whose splendour the glory of the cross is clear.

Why these items represent me:
My phone and my iPod contain my whole life - everything I take note of, a photo of, or the websites I like to go on are all in here. They also allow me to contact my friends when we are apart!
My camera is included becase I love to take photos - I usually move the photos I take to either my phone or iPod afterwards
My PSP is important because I really love video games, and this is my favorite system - I bought a $105 game for it just a couple weeks ago that I am waiting on a shipment from Japan
My Binder represents me because I keep all my hobies in there - quotes from my favorite books, pieces of writings I have done, and all my fashion and interior design sketches are in here.
My white board is important because I pin everything I love up on it - photos of my favorite bands, pictures from video games, pictures of my family, etc.
My bag is important because I take it with me everywhere - it usually contains my phone, iPod, PSP and wallet, as well
The wallet is important for many reasons. One, of course, it contains my money and bank cards, and I love shopping, but also because I keep notes, receipts, old gift cards, and other insignificant things from my life in here.
Finally, my book stack. I actually have a full bookshelf seperate from the ones I keep on my desk. The ones here are all the books I am reading at the moment. I spend usually more than three hours of my day reading, so this is extremely important!
