Compared to other great Gothic cathedrals, the portals of Cologne Cathedral are relatively small. This was not a decision due to the lack of money, as it often happened, with the result of unfinished steeples, choirs etc: it was intended. Already in the design plans of the 13th century, exactly this design was planned. The builders couldn’t imagine that it would take 600 years for finishing their cathedral.
Facebook is a social networking application where you connect to friends and share information about yourself. They recently launched a new application interface that has resulted in a surge of interest.
Circuit-bent instruments are not only chance-wired. Often, they also produce aleatoric music.
The three Function switches as well as the Looping array initiate chance composition.
At first this looks like a good control: when faced with it, I might want the room to be warmer or cooler. But thinking through the interaction: it's pretty bad.
I'm not sure how the device works. If I set it to warmer, will it get warmer and warmer and warmer until I'm broiling? Unlikely, but it's unclear. Having no meaningful scale (such as absolute temperature) or anchor (such as room temperature) I'm unsure how far to turn it. 45 degrees to the right? Then, if that ends up being too hot, do I get up and set it to "less warmer" or to cooler?

Exposição “interFACE”
No âmbito do ciclo de exposições de 2025 denominado “O Designer”, a Sala de Exposições Temporárias do Solar do Ribeirinho recebe, entre os dias 5 de setembro e 10 de outubro, a exposição “Interface”, da autoria do artista Hernando Urrutia.
interFACE é a transformação da nossa visão projetada para o futuro, por meio da digitalização e da transformação de tudo o que assimilamos da tecnologia em sua interação com a interface. Esse processo leva a nossa perceção visual orgânica aos dígitos, códigos binários e algoritmos, para que possa ser processada, medida e controlada. Podemos situar-nos em simbiose com o mundo da interface, num ambiente que o envolve numa realidade virtual, computacional e eletrónica digital.
Hernando Urrutia é um artista Multidisciplinar, Designer, Músico, Compositor, Investigador, Professor Universitário e Gestor Cultural.
