Have finally come to the end of the Talbot Road Trip series.
The intention is to assemble them all into a slide show.....just so you can see them all again!!
Intention was to make this as rough as possible, or worn looking, to give it texture. Done on iPhone, I like the change of quality, doesn't always have to look sharp and detailed to tell the full picture of what it is.
He posed many times in the same place. I released the shutter with the intention of putting that intention in the viewfinder of the camera.
Intention zoom on a long exposure brought out some wonderful colours in the nearby hill and ghosting of the transmission towers. Narre Warren N0rth, Victoria
This abandoned ship makes almost everybody driving to/from Niagara Falls curious.
It called La Grande Hermine was constructed in 1914 in Quebec and began as a ferry on the St. Lawrence, and later became a cargo ship, and then a floating restaurant. It was in 1991 that it was converted into a replica ship that Jacques Cartier used when exploring the St. Lawrence river back in 1535. This is the largest one — measuring 140 feet long. This abandoned ship came to Jordan Harbour in 1997 with the intention of being turned into another restaurant or a gambling venue (there a different variations on this) by a businessman, who unfortunately passed away before he could see his dream come true. He was awaiting permission, along with lacking the funds to have it be used in Niagara Falls, which is why the ship was docked at Jordan Harbour for so long. Then in January of 2003, it was the victim of an arson fire. Luckily, the entire La Grande Hermine didn’t go up in smoke, and its damaged and “rustic” look actually adds to photographs and gives it more wonderment behind the history of this curious “shipwreck”. It is now a distinctive Niagara landmark and favourite roadside attraction to many people.
♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥
I had no intention of making this latest series into a view of wildflowers and such at Mt. Rainier, but I found so many unposted images from our trips, that this just evolved. We made several trips to this national park, this one from 2011 when I had just gotten the Canon SX20. Not much range, but pretty good with closeups.
Every once in a while, just sauntering along a trail at Mt. Rainier, you finally notice the littler things in wildlife, things like berries. Snowberries, huckleberries, bearberries (you know, berries that bears eat), elderberries, raspberries. They can be plain, simple little clusters, so I gave this my dark background treatment.
Symphoricarpos albus is a species of flowering plant in the honeysuckle family known by the common name common snowberry. It is native to North America, where it occurs across much of Canada and the northern and western United States.
Symphoricarpos albus grows in shady and moist mountain and forest habitat, in woodlands and on floodplains and riverbanks. It can grow in a wide variety of habitat types. It is naturalized in parts of Britain, where it has been planted as an ornamental and a cover for game.
The Battle of Halbe (German: Kessel von Halbe, Russian: Хальбский котёл, Halbe pocket) lasted from April 24 – May 1, 1945[1] was a battle in which the German Ninth Army, under the command of Generaloberst Theodor Busse, was destroyed as a fighting force by the Red Army during the Battle for Berlin[citation needed].
The Ninth Army, trapped in a large pocket in the Spree Forest region south-east of Berlin, attempted to break out of the pocket westwards through the village of Halbe and the pine forests south of Berlin to link up with the German Twelfth Army commanded by General Walther Wenck with the intention of heading west and surrendering to the Western Allies. To do this the Ninth Army had to fight their way through three lines of Soviet troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front under the command of Marshal Ivan Konev, while at the same time units of the 1st Belorussian Front, under the command of Marshal Georgy Zhukov, attacked the German rearguard from the north east.
After very heavy fighting about 30,000 German soldiers—one fifth of those trapped in the pocket—managed to reach the comparative safety of the Twelfth Army's front lines. The rest were either killed or captured by the Soviets.

Its my intention to get up to date with editing and uploads before I leave on wednesday seeing as I'll be gone for 5 days, i really don't need to be any further behind uploading. So expect a few tonight - but don't expect anything good. Been a little rubbish the past few days. Although 279 and 280 (yes thats how far behind uploading I am :s ) I like.

During our most recent trip to Zion National Park, I went to one of my favorite viewpoints, the Canyon Overlook, as it has become a tradition for me. I always love capturing the golden hour scenes of canyons, even though it's a challenging experience. However, the challenge of getting it right always seems to lure me out, even on a cold, blustery evening.
In the past, I relied heavily on exposure blending using an HDR plug-in and was never fully satisfied with the results. Over the years, I have learned that taking images with intention is important when you plan on exposure blending later. For this scene, I took images by exposing the darkest shadows and dialed in exposure compensation until I got the bright part in the sky exposed perfectly. It took me about five images, including my safety shots. Although I am not fully there with my editing, I love the results more now.
Another from the Alice in Wonderland Lantern Trail at Cardiff Castle. I had no intention of uploading this but I needed to test my broadband connection.
"This might sting a little..." He thought out loud as he sailed off the roof of the building. It wasn't his intention to trigger its unstable structure to begin to collapse, but he managed it anyways.
The rush of air was panicking to him at first, along with the sudden weightlessness as he plummeted. Not daring to look down at how far he had to go, he squeezed his eyes shut tightly, focusing on the last thing he wouldn't mind seeing before he met his fate...

Warren Street Brisbane Australia I sketched this on Saturday while waiting on the street. Some guy came out and sat in the gutter and had a smoke and went back inside. Finished the sketch on Saturday night. My intention was to colour the washing hanging on the verandah. I still intend to do this when I get some time

(to deposit the passenger without stopping so that the paragliding does not deflate... not easy!!)
i see intentions not as goals but as paths; ways of living life according to what i most value. for today, my intention is to be present; to pay attention; to be curious and kind.

Our intention was always to finish the day shooting Ben Loyal. The wind had been an issue all day so I expected to find Lochan Hakel too choppy for reflections and had intended trying a hillside rather than lochside viewpoint. Somewhat fortuitously I couldn't find an obvious place to park for the hillside view and ended up at the small pull-in for Lochan Hakel anyway. Though 90% of the loch was rippled by the breeze, we found a small inlet I had not used before with some relatively calm water and, more importantly, some pretty reeds catching the light.

Well, it had to happen, because to complete the proper Victorian aesthetic look in my downstairs office and reading room I had to change the Angle-Poise light I had on my desk, which was a spare from my attic office, up in the roof space.
So I found this lamp instead, which is in the classic Accountants/Banker style, but the shade is in white, instead of green or blue. I loved those colours, but felt that they would be too dominant on the desk itself. [Not that I am fussy or anything]. Also, you can’t see it in this photo, but there is a rather nice white glass ‘tulip-shaped’ lamp to the side, behind the sofa, which has a sort of elegance that I thought this light had on my Victorian desk and would echo in style to match.
Now I sound like some house interior magazine waffling on about design. But, I will be spending a lot of time in here, so I might as well get it right, and that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it!
So here I was working in the evening on the MacBook and using my written notes and reference books in my usual way.
This is for a part of a series that I am going to show on my website and Flickr, depending how it all goes, and as to what goes where, I will sort it out as it goes along. Actually there has been quite a lot of work that I have been organising over the past few months. I have had one of those patches where the writing flowed and I just wanted to keep going. A lot of it has ended up in a series, well, four of them so far, rather than just singles because the photographs were either taken on the same day in roughly the same location yet each seems has something to say, or they go together as a group because the weather was similar over a period of time. But seeing them as a series together just gives them more power. Whether this will work on Flickr I am not sure, as the format is a bit restricting, but on my website I can place them all up on a page of their own. On Flickr I might just choose a few examples to tempt you to go and look at it on my website, designed with the poem to go with it. The important thing for me is that they appear together somewhere. But then I will also be printing them out as well…
I know that on Flickr many just scroll through…perhaps not even reading the text that goes with it, or the poem, but lately I have been thinking about this and have decided that I am not going to concern myself with this behaviour anymore. It is there if people wish to engage with it more fully. Because I used to produce creative work for a living you got used to keeping a copy for yourself. And by that I mean a physical, printed copy. Nothing beats it, because you feel as though you have actually done something, and for me that is important to show that you have a body of work. Social media, and even websites can lose information, shut down, or be sold off to the highest bidder…and your work might be lost if you haven’t backed it up, not to mention the subscription fees..which keep going up.
I think that if you are serious about your work, you need to treat it seriously, and lately I am thinking that perhaps the body of work I leave might be of use in the future. I have been encouraged by the reaction to it on Flickr and elsewhere, and that has really helped me to continue producing it. But I have also been thinking about my own well-being and what I enjoy doing. And that is going out with my camera and being inspired to write poetry to go with it. In this way, the joy of producing that work will continue to shine through the work itself as long as I get the balance right.
And for those of you who are itching to know what those piles of books are in the image..don’t worry, there is going to be more about that later. Books should be shared and collections loved, and I have been collecting all my life…
The time seems to be going by faster. A lot has happened since my last upload, both on the world stage and personally, because of various power-cuts, another water-leak in my home, and other matters I am behind in my own schedule for about a month. This winter has been tough. I have had to also block some people on here, as I did not like their controlling behaviour; that is just not acceptable. If you do not like my work then just move on, but also perversely, those that do like it but want to invade my life and use either my work or my empathetic nature for their own benefit can also remove themselves from my presence. You have missed the point entirely of my work.
I am here to share my own journey of the soul, and to help you with yours if you want me to, through art and conversation. Perhaps as creative people we can all find an equilibrium in this, as it is something we can do, that we can rely on to help us through the turbulent years in our lives. I know for myself that this is true, as my work has helped me to remain relatively sane in difficult times. It is also good to share, not just in challenging times, but also in the good times.
The creative arts have always had a place in shaping history too, it can be very powerful. And it can also be quietly consoling.
As well as producing work for my own portfolio it has always been my intention to provide a gallery on Flickr and a website that shows my work in such a way that it can be a constructive help. I wanted both of them to be a calm space, a place you can go to when you need to think, or settle your mind. I wanted these works to provide an understanding of the human condition, of the difficulties of keeping your faith, whatever God you follow, and also the joy that spiritual faith can provide.
And most of all, I wanted my work to offer hope in any dark times you might be going through.
Thank you all for your support and I hope to keep sharing my work and enjoying the wonderful images that you all share on Flickr. In our own way, perhaps we can make the world a better place. It is a privilege to be in the Flickr community and those who care not only about their own work, but also each other.
And If you would like to see more of my work, have a look at my website at:

Thank you to all those who have responded to this Explored image...and a special thank you to those who read the accompanying text...as that was what this image was for, just to keep people in the loop as to what I am up to. My intention was to photograph the sunrise on the canyon. I found this tree more interesting once the storm clouds slowly rolled in. Either way, Bryce Canyon is a must see! Thank you for all comments and for looking.
Standing before the Viaur railway viaduct, I wanted to move beyond engineering prowess to reveal the dream woven into steel. By framing the structure diagonally and stripping away all context, reducing the scene to black and white, I sought to exalt the raw power of metal, the complex interplay of bracings, and the graphic tension of a suspended work.
My intention is to invite the viewer to see this giant not as a bridge, but as calligraphy traced across the sky—a monumental signature in lines and rhythms, of light and shadow. In this abstraction, matter becomes drawing, and technique transforms into poetry.
Through this gaze, I celebrate the essential: the human gift for shaping—and imagining—the landscape. The Viaur, in this frame, is a symbolic passageway: it joins the force of engineering with the creative breath of the imagination, bridging earth and idea, utility and art.
The hill-runner bottom-right was doing the Sgurr nan Each, Clach Glas, Bla Bheinn circuit with the intention of completing it in four hours! I'm sure he did it too.
The intention is to provide our help me this time please.
On this occasion today published a new version of one of my favorite shots, processed more brightness to the flamingos get a greater role.
I would love to know your opinion, because right now I have nothing clear to do.
I present a single photography this year for a worldwide competition and I would like to know your opinion, if I should file this for me, it is the best that I have of my series of flamingos, or one of my many seascapes image?
The story behind the picture:
That day we traveled to some lakes there are relatively close to home, to do some landscape photography at dawn.
When we got there, we were surprised that they had a lot of flamingos quietly along the lake and let us draw near enough to them and photograph.
The right time of the shooting, because the close passage of a plane, due to the noise got scared and started running to take flight.
The technique used is simply a neutral gradient filter three steps to compensate the lights.
I hope you like it. Have a nice Friday. :)

The ENCI quarry is a beautiful example of how an industrial area has been returned to nature. In addition, the intention was to be able to recreate there.
Because the rush to the ponds was too large, a swimming ban has been imposed and warnings are made of the danger of the high cliffs.
I had no intention of posting another photo today, especially one that breaks with my string of flowers. But, I was looking at some archives and ran across this from 2015, and angry bird before "Angry Birds."
I remember taking this photo, and I remembered how disappointed I was when I saw what was less than a stellar shot. The colors were true, believe it or not, but I was really bothered by the intrusive tree trunk. Well, that certainly was no reason for not sharing this gem. I've never gotten a Western Bluebird that head on!
I've shared my history with the Western Bluebird Restoration Team before. Briefly, for eight years, I climbed the hills of Mt. Diablo, and cleaned the bluebird boxes, made sure there were no predator access, kept bees, ants, earwigs and other mini-vermin out, and tried not to disturb the parents through the breeding season. My reward was to be untrusted even after having attended to some first for two or three years when housing was available on some oak tree that House wrens, Ash-throated flycatchers, or starlings hadn't found. I actually had one pair of Violet-green swallows use one nest box to have and rear five chicks that made it all the way through and departed the box like Quaker Puffed Wheat kernels! That was a thrill. Violet-green swallows are not rare, but I doubt if there were more than four nests on the whole mountain. And they are beautiful.
Not as colorful as the Western Bluebird. All of my images of the bluebirds are tru to color. The males ARE that blue. The orange is that orange, not just buff. And the baby blue bellies are that pastel. The look on this one's face, however, is unique. In ten years, I never met another who looked so ... ticked.
So, you'll pardon the interuption. More of the garden on Sunday as usual.
Vertrek in Braine le Comte omstreeks 9u35 - 9u40.

If you have plans to make another picture of SNCF Fret which is coming once again to Quenast with its diesel dinosaurs (since Friday the 26th, I was one day to early but aware of it) and you have the intention to make those shots around Hennuyères, than you will surely see also this train, the empty stock ER 7445 from Braine le Comte to Forest Midi.
Nice that since a couple of weeks, this trains with a class 18 on top and tail. And most of all, the carriages of this train are clean, so no Photoshop needed :-)

My intention was to capture the movement of the train while still retaining enough detail to recognise the subject as a train and not just streaks of colour. I didn't use a tripod so it looks live the VR system on the Nikon 24-70mm VR f/2.8 FX AF-S E N ED is a good as Nikon claim!
This weekend has been rainy so far, so I decided to brighten up my morning with some color. I started the day with this scene of a boat on a calm lake, with the city skyline in the background. The contrast between the urban and natural landscapes is striking, but also soothing. The cool color palette and cloudy sky create a peaceful atmosphere, while the vibrant boat adds a touch of warmth. I enjoyed being out on the water that day. What do you think?

Ponder
To think carefully about something, especially for a noticeable length of time
Ponderings is a series of semi-abstract photos of water features with vegetation, in which the light seems to play a game with our perception. The works not only contain reflections, but perhaps also invite us to reflect. From this principle, the name Ponderings originated.
Best wishes for 2020, everybody!
I had no intention of photographing the Little Owls this morning so I was out at first light to take the dogs for a walk.
As I was walked back across the field, the sun was filtering through the oak trees and the thought of capturing an owl with the beautiful back lighting was too good to miss.
I was still fixing the camera to the gimbal when this one flew in. All 4 fledglings have made it but are becoming more independent every day. I won't get all 4 lined up on the perch again that's for sure as they will soon begin to disperse to find a territory of their own.
I went out last night with every intention of waiting for the Milky Way to rise and planned for a proper facing lake to hopefully get a reflection.
I got there and took some test shots, looking for a nice composition with the trees. Once I had what I wanted I sat and waited while I watched for any Lyrid meteors.
I actually saw about 8 or 9 but never caught one on camera. They happen so fast its just luck really.
Come 1am I was cold, and was quickly loosing the desire to be there. It’s odd shooting alone all the time, especially in the pitch dark on the edge of the woods.
Every now and again you hear some branches snapping as something is passing by, or you hear what sound like a bowling ball being dropped into the water. I assume it’s a beaver or otter, maybe a fish breaking the surface.
Anyhow. These shots were rather uninteresting so I decided to try them as black and whites. I kind of like the look actually, so maybe I’ll head out again tonight and try again.

I had every intention of posting pics of how our place looked over Christmas before the gifts were unwrapped and the North Pole shut down for the off season, but the chaos of Christmas & all the befrazzlement it caused simply prevented me from doing so any earlier than now. Up until last night I had resigned myself to the fact that sharing these just wasn't in the cards for this year, esp. with all the Christmas hullabaloo gone or fading so fast, I didn't think it was still worthwhile to do so, however a few sweet friends have been giving me the push I needed to get these up here, Christmas over or not. So this is me squeezing some in before the year switches out. At least they are still this year's pics! P.S. Hope everyone had a really happy Christmas. There is a beautiful fresh new year upon us... I hope it's a great one for all!
i had no intention of doing the flickr thing tonight, however I came home to find a package waiting on my doorstep and this is what i found inside - the most beautiful soft luscious handmade scarf made for ME.
My friend sazzy(sazzola to me ) has been a steady source of encouragement as well as support for me. Sazz knew that (like many of you others) that today is the 6 mos. anniversary of my fathers passing and she knit this for me- with a card that brought tears to my eyes. I can't tell you how this wonderful gesture makes me feel- Sazzy is Beyond thoughtful and caring and selfless.
It reminded me of the night of my fathers birthday and David and I went over after work to see him and things were so incredibly bad but none of us thought he would be gone a week later. I sobbed the whole way home and waiting for me on the doorstep was a package from cynthia(myslideshow) - i cried even more. Then the following day my mom called and said that Dad seemed better - go get together with your flickr friends and have fun - that was the day of the "jersey meet" and we had fun, and one week later my father was gone.
Its just fitting that i spent time with some of my favorite flickr friends yesterday on the anniv. and after having dinner with mom tonight and talking briefly about todays date to come home to find a package from another friend i met through flicrk.. It amazes me the human spirit..
I only hope that im not taking all the time, but giving as well, like you all...
Sazzola - I love you and thank you ...
thanks to all of you that continue to stand with me , support me . i am very blessed.
I arrived in Whitby with the intention of capturing the sunset from the 199 Steps. When I got there it was quite grey and cloudy. I met a photographer at the top who had the same idea. He was hopeful there would be some sun once it dropped below the clouds. I stayed a while to get some shots of the iconic steps while I was there, before exploring the town a little. I bumped into him in the town at one point.
Eventually I began to make my way back to the steps feeling the opportunity was gone. As I got back to the bottom of the steps however, they were bathed in a golden light. Looks like the photographer from earlier was right, it did drop below the cloud. It was perfect, a glorious sunset with a sky full of colour. Exactly what I was hoping to see. It lasted maybe 10 minutes before the sun went below the horizon. I was in the right place at the right time. I didn't see the other photographer, he had missed it. I did however encounter a guy DJing at the top of the steps whilst streaming live on TikTok...

The most photographed tree in Wales on Llyn Padam lake just on the outskirts of Llanberis town in Snowdonia which also sits at the foot of tallest mountain in Wales; Snowdon.
The shot was taken at around 3pm on a 24mm tilt shift, sun set was at around 4pm so the intention was to capture some beautiful light before sunset. The result wasn't quite my intention, however you can't predict what the weather will do. Following this the cloud came right in and over and the scene became very flat for the rest of the day.
The intention is not to identify “the image and likeness” with a particular quality or attribute of man, such as reason, speech, power or skill. It does not refer to something which in later systems was called “the best in man,” “the divine spark,” “the eternal spirit” or “the immortal element” in man. It is the whole man and every man who was made in the image and likeness of God. It is both body and soul, sage and fool, saint and sinner, man in his joy and in his grief, in his righteousness and wickedness. The image is not in man; it is man.
-Heschel, “Concept of Man,” 128.
I had no intention or doing any shooting this particular morning. I had to drop off my truck for some routine service so instead of sitting around I took a stroll around downtown and then had breakfast. But after breakfast it was so lovely out I figured I'd grab a few shots.
I'd long wanted to try my hand at a zoom pan so gave it a shot. It's harder than you think and definitely requires more practice to master but this was the best of the bunch of Amtrak Boston to Washington Acela train 2163 rifling past approaching MP 197 on Track 1 of Amtrak's New Haven Line. I do think this would would have been easier with my old 100-400mm F series lense that had a push-pull zoom vs. the twist style of this 100-50mm RF.

In capturing this building from this particular angle, I sought to transcend mere architectural representation to reveal the graphic rhythm that animates our urban environment. My intention was to transform this facade into an almost abstract composition, where sharp white lines dialogue with the deep blues of the windows. I deliberately chose this diagonal perspective to create visual tension and give an impression of movement to this static structure. This tight framing eliminates any superfluous context, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in this pure geometric play. I wanted the eye to get lost in this rhythmic repetition, in this alternation of solids and voids, to offer a visual experience that transcends simple architectural documentation and becomes a meditation on the formal beauty that surrounds us daily.
