LOT Community, the non-profit that helps companies of all sizes and throughout industries defend themselves in opposition to patent trolls by making a shared pool of patents to immunize themselves in opposition to them, as we speak introduced that TikTik guardian ByteDance is becoming a member of its group.
ByteDance has acquired its justifiable share of patents in recent times and is itself embroiled in a patent struggle with its rival Triller. That’s not what becoming a member of the LOT Community is about, although. ByteDance is becoming a member of a gaggle of firms right here that features the likes of IBM, the Coca-Cola Firm, Cisco, Lyft, Microsoft, Oracle, Goal, Tencent, Tesla, VW, Ford, Waymo, Xiaomi and Zelle. In whole, the group now has over 1,300 members.
As LOT CEO Ken Seddon instructed me, the six-year-old group had a report yr in 2020, with 574 firms becoming a member of it and bringing its set of immunized patents to over 3 million, together with 14% of all patents issued within the U.S.
Among the many core options of LOT, which solely fees members who make greater than $25 million in annual income, is that its members aren’t shedding management over the patents they add to the pool. They'll nonetheless purchase and commerce them as earlier than, but when they determine to promote to what the business calls a ‘patent assertion entity,’ (PAE) that's, a patent troll, they routinely present a free licence to that patent to each different member of the group.

The European Union is struggling towards a reform of its complex, costly patent system with unified application process (in most member-states), and steps towards a more efficient court system.
The discussion took place on 18 June 2012 at the European Parliament in Brussels.
Following its conference on international IP reform May 7 in the US Congress, Science|Business is launching a study of the innovation impact of these changes to provide an overview of the reforms, and begin examining their meaning for industry and academia.

At the start of Transatlantic Week 2012 in Washington, DC, Science|Business organised an open, expert debate on the legal, economic and technological implications of a new trend: the US and EU patent systems are starting to converge.
The discussion took place on 7 May 2012 on Captiol Hill in the Rayburn House Office Building.
Something funny has happened on the way to new patent legislation: For the first time, the US and EU systems are starting to converge. The new US patent law has moved towards a European, first-to-file approach to patent priority. The European Union is moving, ever so slowly, towards a unified patent system that operates in English with just a few other languages; and it is proposing a unified court system for IP.
How far could this converging trend go? What will it mean, for inventors and for the economies generally on both sides of the ocean? What further measures are needed?
This event was organised in association with the Transatlantic Policy Network and the Federal Circuit Bar Association.

There are a few actions you can take to make sure your intellectual property is not stolen, copyrights, trademarks, and patents. The symbols seen in the picture you may recognize. These three options are applicable for different ideas/ products/ phrases that you might want to protect and have different processes one must go through. If your property is safe though, I say it's worth it.
