Okay, so this bird could lose a little weight. That's no reason to judge
him. He has a job just like you and me, and is trying to make an honest
living. So, his job is a competitive hair-eater, so what? We all have our
strengths, and I believe it is our duty to play to those strengths and give
the world what we can best offer.
Having said that, I will admit that this bird is kind of disgusting, not
that's no reason to lose respect for him. As a matter of fact, this bird is
the president of the Intel corporation. You think people build computer
processors? You're wrong my friend. Intel's processors are created when they
come out of this bird's mouth, literally, in the form of vomit.
This bird has some demons that he has struggled with for years. Due to his
financial success, he has been known to go for fast cars, loose women, and
booze. It is fortunate that he has as much money as he does, or he would
have gone broke. He purchased Ferraris, hired numerous prostitutes (from
which he acquired numerous STDs), and spent millions of dollars on liquor.
Today, people suspect he has reformed, as he has a wife and children, but no
one really knows what goes on behind the doors of his mansion. He rarely
exits the mansion, and rumors suggest that he tends to reside in the
darkness and avoid the light at all costs. He does have one good friend who
vouches for him, but he refuses to explain his eccentricities. This friend,
of course, is the fictional character Harry Potter. Unfortunately, I was
unable to reach him for comment.
How was I able to get this photograph you ask? Well, I admit that this is
one of the few photos on this blog that I have not personally taken. It is
actually a publicity photo from Intel's web site.

In 1997, I graduated from University, emailed out some resumes, and went off traveling. When I came back to my parents house, my mother had a yellow notepad of job opportunities.
I wish I could take credit for my awesomeness, but in truth, it was just really good timing, and my timidity that led me to the bigger companies. Netscape offered me a pansy job in jwz's group, being a QA guy or something worse, and some other things (Java TV computers in your Fridge door? Yeah, we do that!) came along, but I chose Intel.
The phone call back was to perhaps the first Indian woman I'd ever spoken to (she turned out to be a great mentor), and the work experience was busy to be sure. Lots of things happened, including a classic car, an almost-suicide-inducingly-bad suburban apartment, some good friends, and then finally, escaping to SF, where I /meant/ to land when I first moved to California.

Fazit:
Die mitgelieferte GPU ist aber verglichen an der Leistung des Prozessors kaum die Rede wert. Für einen reinen Office-PC oder zur Film-Wiedergabe reicht dieser aus. Grafisch anspruchslose Spiele sind damit auch zu schaffen (ohne Ruckeln). Alles darüber hinaus benötigt eine dedizierte GPU. Während diese beim i3-2100 und einem Auge zudrücken noch annehmbar ist, ist es angesichts der Prozessorleistung des i5 ein Witz (GPU vs. CPU kann man durchaus mit David gegen Goliath vergleichen, selbst beim i3). Mindestens ein HD3000 Chip wäre bei allen Prozessoren der zweiten i-Core Generation Pflicht. Findet sich aber bei Desktop-Varianten bis auf wenige Ausnahmen nur bei der i7-Reihe wieder.
Nichts desto trotz bleibt die Leistung des i5-2400 enorm und wird in meiner Wertung nicht von der Preisstrategie des Herstellers beeinflusst. Wer günstig viel Rechenleistung haben möchte bekommt diese nun mit den neuen i5-Prozessoren. Dabei ist es gar nicht notwendig auf einen i5-2500 zurück zu greifen oder auch die K-Variante. Die Leistungen sind nahezu gleich (es sind nicht gerade ein mal 5-10% Unterschied bei den meisten Benchmarks). Aktuelle AMD-Prozessoren (Phenom II und Llano-Serie) werden vom i5-2400 (teilweise sogar schon vom i3-2100) locker abgehängt und das bei einer deutlich geringere Abwärme.
Gerade mal 95W Wärme-Verlustleistung bei voller Auslastung geben die neuen i5 ab. Für die gelieferte Rechenpower beeindruckend! Damit lässt sich flott und vor allem ruhig arbeiten (oder auch "zocken"), denn wenn zusätzlich einen großen Kühlkörper verwendet, kann der Lüfter im unteren (und kaum hörbaren) Drehzahlbereich arbeiten.
Selbst der i7-2600 liegt in den Wertungen nur knapp vor dem i5-2500 und damit auch ist der Abstand derzeit zwischen i7-2600 und i5-2400 nicht all zu groß. Grund? Die massive Rechenleistung kann von kaum einer Anwendung ausgeschöpft werden, daher zählt viel mehr etwas höhere Taktrate des i7. Wer sparsam sein will, aber die Rechenleistung des i3 als zu niedrig empfindet ist hier genau richtig. Selbst Gamer werden hier auf ihre Kosten kommen. In den nächsten 2-3 Jahren wird es kaum ein Spiel geben, das den i5-2400 in Stottern bringt. Voraussetzung ist aber immer eine starke Grafikkarte (damit ist aber keines Falls "High-End" gemeint, eine GTX460 kann auch schon Wunder wirken). Einziges Manko ist der Verzicht auf eine Übertaktung, dies aber ohnehin nur ein Feature das mit Vorsicht zu genießen ist!
