I had only recently purchased some narrow-band filters and was keen to give them a test run; for this, I chose NGC281. The aim was initially to capture data in LRGB along with Ha, OIII, and SII; the telescope and weather had other plans. I hadn’t looked at the data since the initial night, and using a process in Pixinsight inspired by Cuiv’s recent mastering Pixinsight YouTube video, I was able to bring together this HOO image of the nebula; it is a target that I plan to revisit this winter to capture more Ha and OIII, along with LRGB and SII data.
NGC 281, IC 11 or Sh2-184 is a bright emission nebula and part of an HII region in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia and is part of the Milky Way’s Perseus arm. This 20×30 -sized nebulosity is also associated with open cluster IC 1590, several Bok globules and the multiple star B 1. It collectively forms Sh2-184,[3]spanning over a larger area of 40 arcmin.[4] A recent distance from radio parallaxes of water masers at 22Ghz in 2014 is estimated to be 2.82±0.20 kpc. Rail Baltica is the Project of the Century or the largest Baltic-region infrastructure project in the last 100 years
It is a greenfield rail transport infrastructure project with a goal to integrate the Baltic States in the European rail network. The project includes five European Union countries – Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and indirectly also Finland. It will connect Helsinki, Tallinn, Pärnu, Riga, Panevežys, Kaunas, Vilnius, Warsaw. The Baltic part of the Rail Baltica project is referred to as the Rail Baltica Global Project. Its total length in the Baltic States is 870 kilometres (540 mi), with 213 kilometres (132 mi) in Estonia, 265 kilometres (165 mi) in Latvia, and 392 kilometres (244 mi) in Lithuania
As a result of the implementation of the Rail Baltica project, a modern, multi-modal traffic hub will be created at the centre of Riga, which will increase mobility, safety, accessibility and also provided new features to Riga, visually and functionally connecting parts of the city thus far separated by the railway embankment as well as conveniently connecting both banks of the Daugava River for pedestrians and cyclists by a new railway bridge.

For Macro Mondays "Numbers" theme. A mechanical integrator is a complex device that was used to calculate ship's stability before digital computers became practical. The complete device is similar to this image: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mechanical_integrator_CHM...
The lens used was an old manual Zuiko 80mm f/4 macro on a sliding extension tube and micro 4/3's adapter, in spite of what the exif info states. Four Olympus high res shots were stacked in Photoshop. I would of liked to gotten one more but ran of focus adjustment.

Nella mia vita di astrofilo non ero mai riuscito a dedicare il tempo necessario alla bellissima "Nebulosa Omega".
Questa nebulosa ad emissione, nel cui interno c'è attività di formazione stellare, è nota anche come nebulosa Cigno, nebulosa Ferro di Cavallo, nebulosa Aragosta o con le sigle "M 17" o NGC 6618, e si trova nella grande costellazione del Sagittario.
Grazie alla sua luminosità, al filtro a banda stretta, che ha tagliato buona parte dell'inquinamento luminoso, e all'integrazione generosa il risultato ottenuto è stato per me appagante. Se nell'immagine lineare era visibile soltanto il cuore della M17, lo strecth ha fatto risaltare anche le nebulose ad emissione più deboli che circondano M17. E questo ha evidenziato anche le nebulose oscure che con i loro intrecci tortuosi, insieme alle sfumature e bordi delle nubi Ha, eccitate dalle giovani e calde stelle al loro interno, danno un effetto di profondità a tutta la nebulosa.

In my life as an amateur astronomer I had never managed to dedicate the necessary time to the beautiful "Omega Nebula".
This emission nebula, in which there is star formation activity, is also known as the Swan Nebula, the Horseshoe Nebula, the Lobster Nebula or by the acronyms "M 17" or NGC 6618, and is located in the large constellation of Sagittarius.
Thanks to its brightness, the narrow band filter, which cut out a good part of the light pollution, and the generous integration, the result obtained was satisfying for me. If in the linear image only the heart of M17 was visible, the stretch also highlighted the fainter emission nebulae surrounding M17. And this also highlighted the dark nebulae that with their tortuous interweavings, together with the shades and edges of the Ha clouds, excited by the young and hot stars inside them, give an effect of depth to the entire nebula.

Fenway Park is a baseball stadium located in Boston, Massachusetts, less than one mile from Kenmore Square. Since 1912, it has been the ballpark of Major League Baseball's (MLB) Boston Red Sox. While the stadium was built in 1912, it was substantially rebuilt in 1934, and underwent major renovations and modifications in the 21st century. It is the oldest active ballpark in MLB. Because of its age and constrained location in Boston's dense Fenway–Kenmore neighborhood, the park has many quirky features, including "The Triangle", Pesky's Pole, and the Green Monster in left field. It is the fifth-smallest among MLB ballparks by seating capacity, second-smallest by total capacity, and one of nine that cannot accommodate at least 40,000 spectators.
Fenway has hosted the World Series 11 times, with the Red Sox winning six of them and the Boston Braves winning one. Besides baseball games, it has also been the site of many other sporting and cultural events including professional football games for the Boston Redskins, Boston Yanks, and the Boston Patriots; concerts; soccer and hockey games (such as the 2010 NHL Winter Classic); and political and religious campaigns.
On March 7, 2012 (Fenway's centennial year), the park was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is a landmark at the end of the Boston Irish heritage trail. Former pitcher Bill Lee has called Fenway Park "a shrine". It is a pending Boston Landmark, which will regulate any further changes to the park. The ballpark is considered to be one of the most well-known sports venues in the world and a symbol of Boston.
In 1911, while the Red Sox were still playing on Huntington Avenue Grounds, owner John I. Taylor purchased the land bordered by Brookline Avenue, Jersey Street, Van Ness Street and Lansdowne Street and developed it into a larger baseball stadium known as Fenway Park. Taylor claimed the name Fenway Park came from its location in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston, which was partially created late in the nineteenth century by filling in marshland or "fens", to create the Back Bay Fens urban park. However, given that Taylor's family also owned the Fenway Realty Company, the promotional value of the naming at the time has been cited as well.
Like many classic ballparks, Fenway Park was constructed on an asymmetrical block, with consequent asymmetry in its field dimensions. The park was designed by architect James E. McLaughlin, and the General Contractor was the Charles Logue Building Company.
The first game was played April 20, 1912, with mayor John F. Fitzgerald throwing out the first pitch and Boston defeating the New York Highlanders, 7–6 in 11 innings. Newspaper coverage of the opening was overshadowed by continuing coverage of the Titanic sinking five days earlier.
In June 1919, a rally supporting Irish Independence turned out nearly 50,000 supporters to see the President of the Irish Republic, Éamon de Valera, and was allegedly the largest crowd ever in the ballpark.
The park's address was originally 24 Jersey Street. In 1977, the section of Jersey Street nearest the park was renamed Yawkey Way in honor of longtime Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey, and the park's address was 4 Yawkey Way until 2018, when the street's name was reverted to Jersey Street in light of current Red Sox ownership distancing itself from Mr. Yawkey due to his history of racism (the Red Sox were the last team in Major League Baseball to integrate). The address is now 4 Jersey Street.

While the broken clay pipe used to protect the shoreline along this section of Lake Ontario makes somewhat unsure footing to walk on I loved the contrast it created.

Between the constellations of Taurus and Auriga a stretch of dark clouds form what looks like a cosmic waterfall. “Pouring down” between the California Nebula and the Pleiades star cluster are 30-40 thousand solar masses of gas and dust, including a variety of organic and inorganic molecules. The gravitational collapse of dense clumps within the nebula creates young T Tauri stars, named for their prototype star in the constellation of Taurus.
This six-panel mosaic shows the magnificent structures of the Taurus-Auriga dark clouds on a large scale.

Taken during several nights in September, October and November 2021 in rural Upper Austria with a QHY600C-PH and a Sigma Art telephoto lens 135mm f/1.8.

The Pinwheel (Messier 101) is a large spiral galaxy that appears in the constellation Ursa Major (a.k.a. "The Big Dipper"). Physically, it is significantly larger than our own Milky Way galaxy while its apparent visual diameter is about the same size as the full moon. This wide-field image covers nearly two and one-half degrees on the diagonal and includes many smaller background galaxies (most notably NGC 5474 on the lower right and the edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 5422 on the upper left).
Image capture was done over three evenings in January 2015 using an unmodified Sony NEX-5R digital camera (ISO 800, 99 seconds x 329, producing a total exposure integration time of just over 9 hours). The imaging telescope was a 5” refractor working at an effective focal length of 528mm at f/4.2. The setup also included the use of a light-pollution filter that causes about a two-thirds f-stop loss in broadband light transmission (a necessary "evil" given my significantly light-polluted, red-zone skies).
Image processing was done with PixInsight v1.8, Photoshop and Lightroom CC2014.

The Hong Kong Port connects to the HZMB from a site with approximately 130 hectares of reclaimed land. The port’s Passenger Clearance Building (PCB) is iconic, with aesthetically striking architecture. Its long span curved roof mimics the surrounding sea and offers unobstructed views. Its skylights filter natural light to minimize power usage for the whole building. Tree-like columns support the roof and provide an airy feel inside.
Given the project’s proximity to the airport, our team had to overcome airport height restrictions and limited space onsite, together with the mandate to complete the PCB in 30 months whilst the whole Port was to be completed in about four years. The design and construction of the PCB roof were the most notable innovations to meet these challenges.
Its key features include:
•The integration of BIM and 3D scanning. In 2014, the use of digitalization in civil engineering was still in its infancy in Hong Kong. By overlaying the complex roof design and as erected models, any out of tolerance areas could be readily identified and rectified.
•Pre-fabrication of a total of 81 roof segments, with all necessary fittings and building services including pre-installed MEP completed offsite, form the roof that stretches to the size of nine FIFA football pitches. The largest segment measures 61 meters x 25 meters and weighs 680 tons and remains the largest and heaviest spatial structural frame for a building as of 2022.
•First ever use of installation by vertical lifting and then horizontal jacking of this scale in Hong Kong. This not only overcame the space and height limitations but also allowed parallel construction of the concrete works below to accelerate project time. On-site safety was also enhanced by the subsequent reduction in the need for working at height.
Since then, innovative construction methods, including Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and MiMEP, inspired by Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) have become important elements in Hong Kong’s construction industry.
Sustainable features at the Port such as the District Cooling System, and the use of treated effluent from the onsite tertiary sewage treatment plant for toilet flushing helped earn the project two platinum and one gold BEAM Plus awards.
The port also contains other associated infrastructure and auxiliary facilities, such as:
•Cargo clearance facilities
•Road network
•Transit interchange
•Traffic control surveillance system
•Accommodations for frontline departments such as Immigration and Customs and Excise

This nebula is rightly named the Dark Shark nebula. This was my third try at capturing this one, with the first two not worth completing the processing. The nebula is both a dark and reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus approximately 650 light-years away. The shark spans approximately 15 light-years head-to-tail.
