Another old building with an Art Deco makeover in Ann Arbor.
The building was constructed in the 1890s. The Art Deco facade was added in 1931 when it was the home of the Ann Arbor Tribune newspaper. The building was sold to an insurance company in 1939 and, after a couple of name changes, became known as the Kleinschmidt Insurance Building in the 1960s or 1970s. The Ann Arbor District Library has a 1960 photo of the block where the Kleinschmidt name has yet to be added to the building. The building is now one of several contiguous buildings that form a co-working space and related businesses.
