The dormer is up, the windows are in, the roof is on. Now I have to insulate and plasterboard the lot. Joy.

Filling in the space between the original floor and raised floor with blow-in recycled cellulose.

Asbestos thermal insulation to old boilers and associated plant. Because a new boilerhouse had been built nearby the old plant was simply left to degenerate.

 

2 HP boilers, 3 LP boiler, 24" header/main, associated pipework and plant, 8 large calorifiers and pipework.

 

All insulated with asbestos materials, hand applied 'Compo', pre-formed straight sections, 6" thick boiler insulation reinforced with expanded metal.

I cut the insulation into panels of appropriate lengths. I labeled the panels and drew alignment marks. The panels fit over the external tent pole framework.

R15 fiberglass insulation and a 4mil vapor barrier

Replace the firewall insulation if need be.

dad finishes up the insulation. pretty soon you won't be able to see the guts anymore.

Damaged asbestos insulation to a calorifier in a boiler room

Since we passed the veneer inspection I moved on to insulating the interior. This is my first taste of insulating a 9 foot ceiling...fun fun fun.

While starting to renovate this back enclosed patio to make into a real back room in Sep 1984 we removed some paneling and uncovered this painting my mom did in the mid 1970's that was covered a few years later and covered again with insulation and sheetrock.

Insulation cut to shape. Fortunately thte door was juuuust big enough to squeeze the insulation into the oven in two pieces. I was expecting to have to cut three pieces to get it in there.

It's not often that I see such a clear illustration of what happens when insulation is missing above a ceiling.

 

Top centre is a lampshade. On the left is a tall wardrobe with some stuffies on top. Above that ... Well, the dark areas are cold, and really tell their own story. Above the plasterboard ceiling is a void that runs mist of the length of the spine of the house and it has no insulation between the plasterboard and the felt underneath the slates. So any heat vanishes quite quickly!

Injecting pipe insulation for removal. Particularly thick insulation.

this insulation arrived today, this little lot should keep the heat in the kitchen and the venitation bricks will let the air move... its all very technologically fabulous

Closet in the office.

I've had cavity wall insulation installed in my house today. They disturbed me more than they did Dilly!

At least it doesn't rain often. And, I can tweet from here which r0x!
