The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was set up in 1824 to run all lifeboat stations and to build new ones. Since then, the RNLI has been saving lives at sea for almost 200 years. Across the years many things have changed, but the courage and commitment of our lifesavers has continued to the present day, as we work towards our goal of saving every one.

The RNLI has saved 143,900 lives at sea since the charity launched its first lifeboat in 18242. The story of the RNLI is one of courage and dedication. Across our almost 200 year history, RNLI lifesavers have answered the call to rescue. Day or night. On calm seas or into ferocious storms. If someone is in peril at sea, the RNLI will do all we can to save them.

I hope that helps!

Monastery - Nilova Hermitage. Tver region. Russia.

The monastery dates back to 1528, from the moment of the arrival of the Monk Nile on the island of Stolobny, on Lake Seliger.

A few years later, after the presentation of the Monk Nil of Stolobensky, in 1594, a Blessing was given for the opening of the monastery of the Nilov Pustyn.

In the 18-19 centuries, the Nilova Pustyn Monastery was one of the largest cultural centers in Russia, with a huge library, educational institutions, with its own large production of goods and products.

It was in the Nilova desert that Leonty Magnitsky, a mathematician and teacher, studied under whom, later, the Great Lomonosov studied. Nilova Hermitage was visited by many great people, including Emperor Alexander I and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After the blasphemous looting and partial destruction of the monastery by the Bolsheviks, the buildings were used as a colony for minors, as a prisoner of war camp, as a military hospital, as a camp site. When all the buildings of the monastery fell into disrepair and could no longer be used, without major repairs, by the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, in 1990, the monastery complex was transferred to the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the revival of the Nilo-Stolobensky Monastery. Ahead, there are still colossal works to restore the former splendor of the holy monastery. But already now, the Nilo-Stolobenskaya hermitage is the pearl of the Tver diocese. Even in spite of all the destruction that befell from the godless power, this monastery with all this lies before us in all its beauty and grandeur of the genius of architecture, the pious ancestors of the Russian land.

Today, the monastery, thanks to the governor Archimandrite Arkady (Gubanov), is being successfully restored by the brethren and already has its own autonomous production of products, which is in great demand among pilgrims and local residents.

Today, on my walk, I was surprised by the clouds. And with the recent DANA in the east and southwest of Spain, it did not make me want to enjoy the clouds. A tribute to the families of those 140 people (a figure that still has the possibility of increasing). And thanks to all those people and institutions that have collaborated to help those affected.

The urban sculpture known as Asturcones, located in the Plaza de la Escandalera in Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, is one of more than a hundred that adorn the streets of this Spanish city.

The urban landscape of this city is embellished with sculptural works, generally commemorative monuments dedicated to figures of special importance initially, and more purely artistic works from the late 20th century onwards.

The sculptural group, made of bronze (from a wooden model), is the work of Manuel Valdés Blasco and is dated 2005. The work was commissioned by the financial institution Cajastur to commemorate its 125th anniversary. This group consists of three life-size Asturcón ponies, positioned at ground level to create a sense of connection with the public.

This triangular sculpture is the Valencian sculptor's first work with an animal theme, and also the first he created for Asturias.

Unfortunately, the old cemetery from the former Dixon State School is not being maintained again. About 10 years back, the lack of care and maintenance was brought to the city and the problem was corrected...temporarily it seems. Now these unfortunate souls are being disrespected again...

Dixon State School was a state run mental institution. It was told mentally and physically challenged people were routinely dropped off there. It had a popular nursing school for many years. It closed in the late '70s,early '80s as private care and more focused rehab facilities became the go to. It is said this sad cemetery contains as many as 1000 unmarked graves....

The Paris City Hall, commonly known as the Hôtel de Villea, is the building that has housed the municipal institutions of Paris since 1357.

The main facade, 143 meters long and 18.80 meters high (26.80 meters for that of the corner pavilions and 50 meters for the campanile), includes a central avant-corps corresponding to the ancient monument built during the Renaissance. It rises at its ends into two pavilions, each flanked by a square corbelled turret, in which are pierced two access doors to the courtyards, closed by wrought iron gates, bearing the arms of the City of Paris. This central body and its two pavilions are widened on each side by a small wing set back six meters which ends in a corner pavilion.

Building in the now-abandoned Riverview Mental Institution.

Every room and wall at the huge abandoned Larundel Psychiatric institution was covered in Graffiti - it is like walking through a never ending , and rather disturbing, Art gallery. This one, however, I really loved and found very comforting to come across. as I prowled around the dark corridors in semi dark, and all alone!

Schunck is a former fashion store and department store in Heerlen and Geleen. It is also the name of a series of buildings which housed the Schunck firm, the best known of which is the Glass Palace, named among the thousand most influential buildings of the 20th century by the Union of International Architects. The Glass Palace's client was owner Peter Schunck.

Today it is a cultural center with a museum of modern and contemporary art, an architectural institute, a music and dance school and a library under the old name. The museum houses Heerlen's art collection.

In the 1930s, a special building was built in the center of Heerlen: the Glass Palace. The building was extremely modern and innovative for its time. The Glass Palace was originally built as a fashion house. Architect Frits Puisz designed the modernist building on behalf of entrepreneur Peter Schunck. Due to its height and large glass surfaces, the building was soon commonly called "the Glass Palace".

The Glass Palace not only has impressive architecture, but also a rich history, parallel to the development of the city of Heerlen. From wealth and success to decline. From the lowest point of imminent demolition to the rescue and restoration of a special icon. From department store to office building. From the supermarket and shops to the studios and anti-squat buildings and finally to the cultural institution SCHUNCK, the figurehead of the city's cultural spring.

St Martin's Theatre in London's West End has staged Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" since 1974. The show has been on stage in the West End continuously since 1952.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is the largest charity that saves lives at sea around the coasts of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, as well as on some inland waterways. There are numerous other lifeboat services operating in the same area.

Founded in 1824 as the National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck, the RNLI was granted a Royal Charter in 1860. It is a charity in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland. Queen Elizabeth II is Patron. The RNLI is principally funded by legacies and donations, and most of the members of its lifeboat crews are unpaid volunteers.

The RNLI, whose main base is in Poole, Dorset, has 238 lifeboat stations and operates 444 lifeboats. Crews rescued on average 22 people a day in 2015. RNLI Lifeguards operate on more than 200 beaches. They are paid by local authorities, while the RNLI provides equipment and training. The Institution also operates Flood Rescue Teams (FRT) nationally and internationally (iFRT), the latter prepared to travel to emergencies overseas at short notice.

Considerable effort is put into training and education by the Institution, particularly for young people; more than 6,000 children a week are spoken to by education volunteers about sea and beach safety, and over 800 children a week receive training. The Institution has saved some 140,000 lives since its foundation, at a cost of more than 600 lives lost in service.
