Installation of saturated buffer in Story County, Iowa, on land farmed by Justin Hanson. A water control structure is a key component; it either diverts water from field tile to the perforated tile that runs parallel to the stream--which saturates the buffer-- or allows water to bypass the buffer, depending on how many panels are inserted into the structure to divert flow.

In 1608, Samuel de Champlain chose Upper Town as the site of the Saint-Louis Fort. Ever since it was founded, it has remained the military and administrative centre of the city which was determined by the strategic heights of the promontory. After the British Conquest, Upper Town was mostly populated by British government officials and Catholic clergy members while French and English merchants and artisans lived in Lower Town.

The strong military presence in this area has long limited its expansion. By the end of the 19th century, some wanted the city’s fortifications to be demolished as they were deemed unnecessary and they interfered with urban development. Lord Dufferin would successfully persuade officials to conserve the city’s fortified appearance by adapting it to meet the needs of a modern-day city.

The area was subjected to some deterioration during the 1950s but it since gained impetus in the 1970s.

With its ramparts, citadel, century-old houses, historic sites and landmarks, Québec’s Upper Town has a rich heritage of several generations with beautiful, unique surroundings.

Most of the buildings date back to the 19th century with the construction of some dating as far back as the 17th and 18th centuries. The area has several commercial roads like Saint-Jean, Sainte-Anne and De Buade streets. Some public administration and other institutions found at the heart of the city include the Québec City Council, the Séminaire de Québec, the Ursulines Convent, and the Augustinian Monastery and l'Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. It also has a vast choice of accommodations including the famous Château Frontenac since Old Québec is among the most popular tourist destinations.

The area also has many well-maintained parks. Among some are the Esplanade, Artillerie, Des Gouverneurs and Montmorency parks along with the gardens of l’Hotel-de-Ville. People can also take advantage of the great view of the St. Lawrence River from place D'Youville and the Dufferin Terrace.

The main septic tank is finally installed! There's still an overflow tank and leach field to install, as well as plumbing hookups to be made, but things are finally underway!

It was a bit tricky, but I installed the flooring! Next I need to apply the wallpaper and install the windows. I also need to figure out the furniture positioning. c:

Now I know this baby has a few dings and scars, but don't we all? I love her all the same. Besides this provides much nicer storage than the stacked bins that were previously tucked into this corner. Now all that's left to do in this space is re-prurpose a Queen Anne's chair, paint the walls and rid my poor eyes of that putride pink and refinish the hardwood floors. Slowly but surely I'll get there...

We had spray foam insulation installed in our home rather than just patch the access holes they cut in our home's knee walls, I built some book cases.

The moveable shelves were made from scraps I found in our attic, and are an incredibly rich, warm color. I was pleasantly surprised!

As far as the spray foam is concerned, our furnace is probably breathing a sigh of relief as it now only kicks in about twice every hour to maintain a comfortable temperature. I'm glad we paid for the whole-home process rather than exterior-only, which would have been cheaper and less effective.

Excuse the off-centred logo, but these are just test print artworks :)

After installing the marquee, I've now come to the conclusion that I will not be sealing the sides, so I can take the top arches off properly for marquee artwork installation.

Had a lot of difficulty wedging the artwork inside the groove for the plexi, so I will have to look at cutting the artwork an extra couple of mm's so I don't wedge the artwork inside the groove.

New to the kitchen - the old oven was a tiny apartment sized one and we added a new microwave with a vent because the old kitchen lacked one.

While we had the cabinets installed, we did a lot of the trim ourselves. Coley measured and cut, I stained, and Coley installed. Same for the door - it had to be custom ordered because it was a weird size.
