The Monkey Civilization was an outdoor installation piece
created in my back yard during the summer of 1995.
It was an early attempt to create a miniature world where
one could experience the silence.
Many years later, this idea would be more fully realized in

This year's temple features four grand entrance halls that converge onto a central altar. Above the altar the open tower projects to the sky, letting the energy flow dynamically through the structure. As you approach, you see the central tower rising above the flanking entrance halls; at the top are long curving beams that reflect the arc of the sky. Clad with intricately cut and layered wood, the Temple is a vehicle for remembrances and blessings, promises and forgiveness.

I am thankful (but saddened) for their sacrifice, but I wonder if those who make the decisions to go to war or into a conflict actually realize the REAL costs of their decisions?

In November 2013, nearly a year to the day of the beginning of construction, "a year and one day" stands proud and tall on the grounds of Longue Vue House and Gardens in New Orleans, Louisiana. Created to slowly be overgrown with plant-life (both indigenous and invasive) and deteriorate with time, this site-specific time-based artwork continues to evolve. Step inside this tomb and contemplate the cycle of life and death. Light filters through a water prism in the ceiling to create a place of passivity.
