A timely heads up from First Light allowed for a shot of this FRA inspection train rolling south on Steelton Hill. The car was next due at BNSF in Superior. It was nice CN had new 3119 leading, which helped brighten an otherwise cloudy afternoon.
They were laid back about 2000 years ago - the famous rice terraces in northern Philippines. Their builders were people Ifugao peoples in whose honor is named and modern province of this country.
A Laysan albatross glides over a nest site at the breeding colony searching for its mate. After months of solitary wandering of tens of thousands of miles over the north Pacific, male Laysan albatrosses (Phoebastria immutabilis) return to the breeding colony and prepare a simple scrape nest in the same location as the previous year. Returning with strong mate fidelity female birds search the nest sites with a low pass looking for their mate while the nester searches the sky. Juveniles that have not yet established a life-long bond or curious visitors from other colonies may also make a flyby inspection looking for a potential mate.

The locals on the island of Hat Yao Noi are very proud and protective of their resident population of oriental pied hornbills (anthracoceros albirostris). As you travel round the island you see many examples of purpose built nesting boxes. This barrel, with its restricted opening and convenient perch, may well gain the approval of this pair.

What a cool scene I sensed here as I turned the corner first. As always, the people were helpful and so very nice. Many are rather curious, or let's put it this way, they pretend to be curious. (¬‿¬)
The composition was already clear to me, as I had already been here the day before and was able to memorize my position well. This photo is perhaps a little more sombre, but on closer inspection, the joy and colors here have by no means disappeared. Because these details, joy and color will always be part of my photos.
I love her art Hania Rani so young and so talented. The song Glass the video ♫ was recorded in Berlin and many sequences were shot in the district where I grew up. Speaking of Berlin, I may soon have something completely new from Berlin in terms of photography. But will that be something for Flickr? I'm not sure yet. Anyway, I won't have much time to share photos anytime soon, but I'll try to keep an eye on your excellent work.

Executives from the Canadian National and Iowa Northern take a ride on CN's business train across the Mississippi River on a trip from Chicago to Waterloo, IA. While the sale of the IANR to the CN hasn't been approved by regulators yet, the CN is moving forward with plans to integrate the IANR into it's system.

CSX Q216's recrew inspects damage to CSX 3164 after the previous crew presumably struck something on the LIRC several hours prior. We only heard that they were having issues that required mechanical to come out from Louisville, but visible damage on the unit suggests the train hit something. Because of the delays, the crew died and a new one was taxied to Butlerville. Waiting in the siding for this and another meet was CSX L422 dropping their train of previous day's work in Mitchell and Seymour for a manifest to pick up later that night.
