This grasshopper was on a tower between a marsh and a forest in Western New York state. Any ideas on what kind it is?

 

I captured these two in mid air , using a fast shutter speed . They were no bigger than a nib head .

Taken in Summerhill Glen, Isle Of Man.

Saw this land on my mother car window screen so thought I'd try to get a quick shot before I scared it away

The hardest part of photographing this grasshopper was finding it in the first place! Very well camouflaged against these leaves.

Interesting looking fly on ox-eye daisy. Think it's Miltogramma sp.

Just to stave off the cabin fever here is another example of a Male Common Darter Dragonfly taken using the Kenko 1.4 dgx pro.

The attack helicopter of the insect world, dragonflies are also amongst the fastest flying insects. This does of course create some challenges in photographing them! Resting periods creating the best opportunities for close ups.

Don`t Know the english name for this one.

Hawker dragonfly in the garden. Natural light.

A hoverfly in flight around Salvia flowers. I like how the wing hinges are in focus (which was entirely by chance!).

Not sure what type of insect this is, but it was found again in the wooded area along the forest walk at Rancho.

 

This guy has interesting markings. Taken at Miller Woods natural area, in Oregon.

Thanks to some seasonly cold weather, this bee was particularly sluggish and I was able to get a reasonable hand held shot.
