Dragonfly drying out in sun – probably hatched out from Nymph stage .
Dragonflies do not live long – just days or a few weeks ,
In the nymph stage – they live for years , in mud in ponds .
Sharp-tailed bee Coelioxys elongata. Natural light. Focus stacked using zerene. Cleptoparasites of some Megachile and Anthophora Bees
Beautiful Butterly, one of my faves.
The European Peacock, more commonly known simply as the Peacock butterfly, is a colourful butterfly, found in Europe and temperate Asia as far east as Japan. Formerly classified as the only member of the genus Inachis.
About two inches long and climbing up a mustard stem to eat the flower. It's head is at the top with two small black eyes facing toward the camera.
(I added a 20mm extension tube to get close.)

Also known as "small white" or "cabbage white", so I'm told. I took this during a walk this afternoon and was quite surprised that I was able to get close enough to have a few goes at this shot.
A rather sad looking damp male Colletes bee- out all night in a rain shower.

Tephritid fly Chetostoma curvinerve. Surprised to see on of these this early- was displaying on a camellia bush. The males are territorial and use those amazing facial bristles in sumo wrestling contests with each other
