A particularly fine folio effort by Rasheeda Ahmed. Clearly Rasheeda has engaged fully in the design process and a phenomenal amount of effort has been invested in this unique and supremely stylish solution.
The key to this student's success was the time invested in research. It took her several weeks to amass the visual references seen here and much time was spent experimenting with the properties of several materials before meaningful conclusions were drawn.
When the time finally came to get creative and develop some original ideas of her own Rasheeda was able to generate several strong concepts quickly. These were modelled and photographed and one was chosen as the solution.
A natural design student with an abundance of flair Rasheeda is a finalist in the annual TTA competition in the Innovative Design Category. We wish her well!

An eclectic design concept which expresses dynamism and vitality and gives great possibilities concerning flexibility and adaptation. A new ground breaking retail banking service design concept is born where local heritage meets customer innovation process
In terms of design concept the Italian-retail-design company gave birth to an innovative concept that expresses Italianism in a brand new and truly manner. Traditional stereotypes has been put aside in order to bring to surface a more modern way to be Italian.
Crea International transformed the eclectic character of the brand and of Italian being into concrete materials and experiences which are immediately visible. Clear and elegant floors in gres porcelain with an effect of natural stone, interrupted by runners that outline the different areas and services offered, walls in a 1950’s Giò Ponti style, unique and winding wall elements characterized by a scrawl, personalized desks, chairs which were tactfully mixed in their different styles.
Eclectic materials thank to their physicalness, apparently hard while soft to the touch, sharp angles but smooth surfaces.
These values have always been at the bases of every idea of Lavazza Company whose goal is to achieve a strong freedom of interpretation while bringing the “Made in Italy” all over the world as an exigency in style and service.
Espression, name suggested by the claim claim “Espress Yourself”, cross-reference mark to creativity and need to personalise its own style putting every person at the centre of attention.

She is a brooch. A gift to my Mother on her birthday this year. Mom loves her!!
Allot of the parts are recycled from other jewelry, as is the pin. I did make the face from a bit of air-dry clay. Her eyes are small copper brads and her face is painted with acrylics.
A few months ago I was asked to contribute a photograph of shoji screens in a guestroom in Koyasan monastery. I sent them the file and forgot all about it.
When I returned from a really busy week at work yesterday, the postman had a nice surprise - the publishers sent the finished book, and indeed, my picture is in it! I am even more pleased as it's a really nice and quality design book I'm in. What next, Wallpaper? I don't think so, but obscure architecture seems to work well for me. And Wallpaper indeed had an article on some le Corbusier spin-off in India recently :)
