I walked from Saybrook Point all the way to Fenwick (about 2 miles) just to get this shot. I snuck off the road and sat under a tree on the beach to get the shot.
Harvesting grapes in the vinyard around the corner... A find in my archives to add to my vinyard set.
The sun rising over the vinyard... where I go on my daily morning walk... and where I take
many of the photographs you see here on my stream.
The stones of the strangers never fell on me
But the rose of a friend hurts me
Sentenced to be stoned to death -- a friend strikes him with a rose instead
We had a fantastic Ipernity/Flickr meetup on Saturday...
visiting the "Museum Insel Hombroich"

Someday perhaps the inner light will shine forth from us, and then we'll need no other light.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“If the mind is to emerge unscathed from this relentless struggle with the unforeseen, two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that, even in the darkest hour, retains some glimmerings of the inner light which leads to the... truth; and second, the courage to follow this light wherever it may lead.”
I just couldn't decide which frame I liked best - the white one...
now, that I had some time I think I only would have uploaded this one...
as I usually do (frame with white). Just thought the black might give it
a better contrast...
Gus would often shy away when I would break out the camera. He was reluctant, but I could tell that he was still interested in the process.
This was taken at one of the coffee shops we'd hang out at in San Francisco, Muddy Waters. It was an early foggy morning, and we had a stirring conversation about the practice of painting while being still inside. What's amazing to me is that after 15 years, I can still contemplate that conversation and glean deeper truths.
What a great point of reference from a reluctant monk.

Without going out of my door
I can know all things on earth
With out looking out of my window
I could know the ways of heaven
The farther one travels
The less one knows
The less one really knows
