Not sure if this is sakura (cherry blossom)- do they bloom so young? Still, the flowers were very much sakura-like and the bush looked beautiful so I shot this picture anyway. We are in the grounds of the extensive Tenryu-ji templex complex in Arashiyama, in the outer suburbs of Kyoto, Japan. Detailed notes about the temple complex appeared earlier in this album. (see previous pictures). The garden, created by Musō Soseki, features a circular promenade around Sōgen Pond (sōgenchi) and is designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty of Japan. The Important Cultural Properties of Tenryū-ji include:Three portraits of Musō Soseki, and paintings of Avaln(Iokiteśvara and Seiryō Hōgen Zenji/Yunmen Daishi- I think photography was prohibited in that part of the temple), The wooden carving of Gautama Buddha (I don't recall having see that), and Illustrations and writings in the document archive and writings of Kitabatake Chikafusa.(Kyoto, Japan, Apr/ May 2019)
