May 25th, southeast of Tucumcari, New Mexico. We emerged from the rain and hail in the developing forward flank to gasp at this hovering beauty. Tiny little rear flank downdraft booping through it back there.
It’s fascinating how tight these bases can be, with convective inhibition consolidating all the instability into a focused channel, like you can visualize the hole it’s working to punch through the cap. This thing put on such a great show at sunset and especially after dark.

Am Haken hatte sie den umgeleiteten DGS 91324 von Regensburg Ost nach Bremerhaven Kaiserhafen. Auch wenn die ELL Vectrons inzwischen zur "Landplage" mutiert sind - im warmen Abendlicht können sie auch fotogen sein (07. September 2016).
A few moments before sunset ELL's 193 201 hired to SBB Cargo passed my photo-spot near Hagenacker with a long and colorful container-train. In the meantime those black Vectrons are congesting German tracks but in warm light i did not have to overcome my inhibitions to take this picture...(07th of September 2016).

In the afternoon Kim said, "what about the River of Lights?"
She had taken a rare day off.
We bought tickets online, grabbed our gear and headed to the Botanic Garden.
Unlike our typical evening at the River of Lights, the weather was mild. We were almost over dressed.
There were lots of families with young kids, who had no inhibitions with expressing delight at the lights!

that imagination is an attempt to offer such errors a way out

It’s great to see a council with a sense of humour but it does seem that in Porthcawl, April Fool’s Day has been moved to August.
You may well have heard the plans, probably concocted after a good night out, to install public toilets with a social conscience.
The design included weight-sensitive floors to ensure they were only used by one person at a time, with sensors which would detect violent movement and trigger water jets to soak the user/s. Furthermore, the doors would then open! Not unlike a Virgin train!
So picture the scene. It’s late night in Porthcawl, a group of close, amorous friends, with few inhibitions who have consumed more that the recommended monthly limit in one evening, now decide they need a little late night entertainment! What are they going to do?
Well I guess that’s’ obvious...........…..the council now just need to install some comfortable seating for the viewing gallery!
Update: Plans for public toilets with design features to deter vandalism, rough sleepers and sexual activity were submitted in error, the council has said. Shame that.

"My Affair With A Frost Flower State Of Affairs"
There’s a beguiling danger in beauty…
Seduced as I was by the fickle fingers of fate musingly stroking my hair,
I envisaged
this lusciously lavish landscape
of sun-raptured heavenly hills and valid valleys
to be a lush, plush place for me to land -
Alas, such deception my naive perception did offer.
Buried beneath the facade of a fertile dream-come-true
and a mesmerizing mirage of natural light and zephyrus breaths -
where your thoughts hugged the horizons of my mind
like clouds on the edges of prairie dog skies
and where your stampeding passions trampled my inhibitions -
were delicate bandeaux of ice;
fine spun and feathery like polar gossamer
that formed on the stems of your ruptured dreams
that then became my nightmare
when you had your hard freeze
while warm sap still flowed through your veins,
pumped and pushing through your broken being
and freezing on contact with the chilled clime
cocooning me, in a sudden silken surge of your glazing gauze
holding me, in the vivid wild magic of your frosted crystallized clutches -
fossilizing me, in icy opalescent ribbons of ornate whorls.
Unable to escape the grasping glacial petals of your exquisite pain,
your frost flowers plunged me into the frigid heart
of your bitter big-bluestem
prairie winter...
There’s a beguiling beauty in danger
hypnotized and hijacked
as I was by the rhythmic sways of your tall grass ways -
your flickering tongue tasting my air
as my emotions were extorted
till I was bled white -
obviously oblivious
that I was being preyed upon
by a stealthy force of nature motivated by indigenous instincts.

The United States banned the sale of alcohol nationwide in 1919 to be enforced the following year. However, prohibition on a local level came much earlier in many places.
The G.A. P. Saloon in Oakesdale, Washington opened sometime after the repeal of prohibition in 1933.
Oakesdale wasn't an incredibly rough town - not much more than any other, really. But the battles over liquor began early and basically never let up until the 1930s.
Even before Washington became a state, each town had their own laws concerning saloons. When Washington was writing their constitution, three big issues were put to a territory-wide vote. First, the location of the capital was to be decided (eventually Olympia), but also women's suffrage and prohibition.
In the end, and on the original Washington state constitution, women had no right to vote, but anyone could go to a saloon. Prohibition was voted out.
Through all of this, various groups like the Anti-Saloon League and many churches petitioned and protested enough to finally get the state government to pass a "local option" in 1909. As during the territorial days, this allowed communities to pass local prohibition laws - essentially creating a patchwork of wet and dry towns.
But even before that, towns and anti-alcohol groups took matters into their own hands. In 1904, Oakesdale banned saloons. This was done through electing enough anti-saloon board members to the town council. Each year, those against prohibition would try to reverse it.
In 1905 and 1906, the ban stood. But in 1907, the town voted to allow saloons.
But this wasn't the end of it. In 1908, the town Baptists came out strong against liquor. "The saloon is known to be a great and menacing evil," they wrote in a resolution. If any member was known to support alcohol in any way at all, they were to be "punished."
That same year, a saloon was robbed, and (in an unrelated incident), a saloon was caught selling alcohol to minors.
To make matters worse, a nearby newspaper wrote: "Oakesdale is having more than its share of trouble. It returned to a wet condition at the December election, and now has smallpox in big doses."
The saloons in Oakesdale as well as the rest of the state would only last for a few more years. In 1914, Washington passed a state-wide prohibition. Many fought against it, but in 1916 couldn't get enough votes to overturn it.
It was too late anyway. The United States congress passed the prohibition amendment in 1917 and Washington (still dry) voted to ratify it in 1919. The amendment went into effect in January of 1920. It would last 13 years.
Following the repeal of prohibition, saloons like the G.A.P. Saloon would open legally.

It is in the evening when the image of Goddess Durga is immersed in the Ganges, Bengalis greet each other with Bijoya Greetings and men follow the customary 'Kola-Kuli' (embracing each other). Durga Puja is a festival that the Bengalis celebrate without religious inhibitions. It is more of a socio-cultural celebration that tends to renew kinship with friends and relatives.
