Right now, you
might be sorrowful
or silent, empty or
alone, but you
have the moon, and
you have your
breath, and in
inhaling the
wonder of these
alone, you might
find yourself
wrapped in a soft
shawl of gentle
relief that this
very moment is
beautiful, and more
than worthy of
perfect love.

I went camping in Lassen National Forest this weekend. As I never listen to the news, I basically drove up and camped by the Dixie fire. I got a mandatory evac notice first thing the following morning. All that mist between the fence and the trees is smoke, of course, and the strangely orange hue to what would normally be yellow grass is caused by the filtered sunlight.
Near Mineral, California.

The brush-like inflorescences of the silk oak tree attract nectar feeding birds and insects. A mejiro enjoys the nectar of this aesthetic shade tree viewed on a densely forested steep slope from an adjacent trail. Native to Australia and naturalized in Hawaii, silk oaks (not a true oak) were introduced as an ornamental and forestry tree. Despite the attractive hardwood lumber used in cabinets and flooring, the sawdust is toxic and can produce severe allergic reactions from contact and inhalation, so it is not commercially milled in Hawaii.
