In the Ghost town of Ingalls, Oklahoma. The Battle of Ingalls was a gunfight on September 1, 1893 between United States Marshals and the Doolin-Dalton Gang, during the closing years of the Old West era, in Ingalls, Oklahoma.[1][2] The Doolin-Dalton Gang had been involved in a number of train robberies and bank robberies, beginning around 1891. They had found a safe haven in the town of Ingalls, which unwittingly harbored many outlaws during that period. On September 1, 1893, a posse was organized by the new United States Marshal, Evett Dumas "E.D." Nix, which entered the outlaw town of Ingalls with the intent to capture the gang. The lawmen were engaged in a gunbattle in which three of the fourteen lawmen carrying Deputy Marshals' commissions would die as a result of the battle.

The alpine or subalpine larch trees (Lyall’s larch, Larix Lyallii) attract thousands of hikers every fall.

Monday, October 7 I hiked to Ingalls Lake, located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The trailhead is located in the Teanaway River drainage, Washington State. The round-trip hike is about 9 miles with an elevation gain of about 2,800 feet. Ingalls Lake elevation is 6,466 feet. Crowds visit the area because of the beautiful golden larches in October. I didn't count but I am sure at least 200 people hiked to the lake or perhaps a few stopped short of the lake and enjoyed the views of Mount Stuart and the larch tree. The hike is strenuous. The Dan Ingalls Overlook is located at the top of Warm Springs Mountain in Bath County, Virginia, offering a beautiful view of the Alleghany Highlands. The road off to the right heads eastward toward the Shenandoah Valley.

A beautiful lake at the foot of Mt. Stuart in Washington State's Central Cascades.

A nice young couple who I met on the trail took this photo. Ingalls Pass, Ingalls Lake hike. About a 9 mile round trip hike with 2500 feet of elevation gain. Very popular hike this time of year due to the colorful larch trees. Also a great place to see mountain goats. I will add many more photos. IMG_8815
