Before becoming overshadowed by Apollo's oracle, Delphi was home to the Gaian oracle (devoted to the earth goddess). To explain this transition, the Greeks used to myth of the python.

Things always begin with an infidelity by Zeus -- this time, with Leto. His wife Hera, furious as always, sent the sacred Gaian python after Leto so she could not give birth to Zues' twins (Apollo and Artemis) "anywhere the sun shone." Leto sneakily gave birth on Delos island, but the python remained a problem.

So Apollo killed it...in Delphi, where the oracle to Gaia stood. Since the python was an earth spirit, and Apollo conquered it, this myth explains how Apollos temple was literally built over the the grave of another.

In this picture, notice the (later) temple to Apollo standing on higher ground than the tholos of Athena Pronaia, once used for Gaian worship. The Apollonian oracle literally overshadows the earlier shrine.

This is not John Nash but his contemporary Eric Ravilious. He was also appointed an official war artist in 1939 and produced some fine work featuring coastal defences, planes and barrage balloons. This watercolour, entitled 'Storm' and painted in 1941, shows a less warlike scene. The following year, Ravilious flew to Iceland for war work and his plane disappeared without trace.He left a widow, Tirzah, and three young children. She was a talented wood engraver herself, whose work took second place to her husband's, and to serious ill-health, while his serial infidelities also left the family struggling financially. All the same, his style as a watercolourist and engraver was distinctive and very lovely.

Ruapehu, the beautiful maid, was married to Taranaki. One day, while her husband was away hunting, she was wooed and won by Tongariro. When Taranaki returned at the end of the day he surprised the guilty pair. A titanic battle ensued in which Taranaki was defeated. He retreated towards the west coast, carving out the course of the Wanganui River as he went. When he reached the coast he moved northwards to the western extremity of the North Island, where he rested. There his great weight made the shallow depression which afterwards filled with water and became Te Ngaere swamp. Taranaki, or Egmont, as Cook named him, now sits in silence looking towards his wife and his rival. In spite of her infidelity, Ruapehu still loves her husband and sighs occasionally as she remembers him, while the mist, which drifts eastward from his head, is the visible sign of Taranaki's love for her. For his part, Tongariro, who despairs of ever possessing her again, smokes and smoulders with anger. To this day travellers in the Tongariro National Park see the basin called Rua Taranaki, “the Pit of Taranaki”, which lies to the east of the Tama Saddle which was the original home of Taranaki.

and walked a trail that leads to Bash Bish Waterfalls.

They say Bash Bish was a beautiful Indian girl who was wrongfully accused of infidelity and was sent to death over the falls.

Reed Bunting's song is often unkindly described as a slow repetitive ditty and has been memorably described as “like a child managing to count to three and then forgetting what’s next.” But Reed Bunting has two songs; the slow one described above, and a fast one with more notes, delivered at least twice the speed. Unpaired males give the fast song, eager to attract a mate but once paired, they give the slow song. This advertises that this territory is occupied but also reassures the incubating female that all is well, and it is safe to leave the nest. That isn't just my interpretation as females take more nest breaks when the male is singing nearby. But in 2009 a third Reed Bunting song was discovered which consisted of an almost continuous babble of short phrases that was only sung at dawn. And it was concluded that this was the song of a paired male advertising to other females that he was available for mating. Dawn is a time when the female, having perhaps just laid an egg, is at its most fertile, requiring the next egg to be fertilised. They usually lay one egg per day but will not incubate until the whole clutch of 4 to 5 is complete. Which gives the female a bit of spare time for extra-marital activity.

Until recently many of our birds were thought to be strictly monogamous, that is faithful to one partner. Then DNA testing was invented, and we now know that monogamy is the exception rather than the rule. In House Sparrows about 20% of nests contain at least one offspring that is not fathered by the male of the pair. In Starlings and Great Tits this rises to 30%, 40% in Blue Tits, and up to 75% in Coal Tits. But the prize for infidelity goes to Reed Buntings where around 90% of nests have chicks that are not fathered by the male of the pair. In another study 97% of all individual females copulated outside the pair bond, and seeking sex in neighbouring territories accounted for 40% of the average male’s entire reproductive output. That is quite a life that Reed Bunting's lead.

The name Reed Bunting was first coined by Thomas Pennant in 1776 to replace the widely used , but taxonomically inaccurate Reed Sparrow. Although Reed Sparrow was used more generically for any LBJ (little brown job) you get in marshlands, including various warblers. The scientific name Emberiza schoeniclus literally translates as reed-dwelling bunting. The name bunting was a nickname, and sometimes surname for fat people in the Middle Ages and was then applied to the Corn Bunting, which is also quite a plump bird. So once the family name of Bunting was established it was a logical step for Reed Sparrow to change to Reed Bunting. Pennant also coined Yellow Bunting at the same time though Yellowhammer persisted.

Reed Buntings are found in wetlands with tall vegetation throughout Britain. Most people associate them with reedbed wetlands but they are also found in rushy flushes in moorlands.

Llyn Morwynion means "Lake of the Maidens".

According to the Mabinogion, {Welsh Folklore] Blodeuedd's {in English "Maid of Flowers"} servants fled in terror when she was turned into an owl for her infidelity, but the girls lost their way and drowned in a nearby lake. However, I don't know whether they were supposed to have drowned in this lake or the one on the other side of Maentwrog which is also called Llyn Morwynion.

I suspect it will have to remain a mystery.

Frida Kahlo first met Diego Revera when she was an art student hoping to get advice on her career from the famous Mexican muralist. Although Rivera was married, a courtship ensued. They wed in 1929 (he was 42, she was 22) much to the disapproval of Frida's parents, who referred to the couple as 'the elephant and the dove'. With volatile tempers and countless infidelities, the marriage was notoriously tumultuous. The couple divorced in 1939 only to remarry a year later, though the second marriage was just as turbulent as the first. Both have long been recognized as important painters who achieved great international popularity during their lifetimes.

The Zonta Rose by Lance

The yellow rose became a symbol of the Womens’ Suffrage Movement in America (especially after World War 1). Zonta had its beginnings in Buffalo New York in 1919, but as far as I know, it shouldn’t be confused with the Yellow Rose Of Texas. I believe that is a different flower, but if I’m mistaken please let me know as soon as possible!

In earlier times, especially during the Victorian era, a yellow rose symbolized jealousy, dying love and infidelity. But as times changed, so did the meaning of the yellow rose. In the modern era, it's been used to convey a number of sentiments, with friendship being the main one. However, there is another possible reason that Zonta founders chose a yellow rose as the symbol of Zonta International – it was the symbol of the suffragist movement in the USA.

Zonta Rose Day, which coincides with International Women’s Day on 8th March, is a day to reflect on the worldwide voluntary work done by Zonta members to improve the status of women;, and it's suggested that you might like to send a yellow rose to someone who has made an impact in your life...!

The latest version of the Zonta rose (above) was – it appears – developed in or around 2008, is a wonderful clear yellow, is of larger than average size, and it’s yellowness intensifies when the flower is kept in water (where it will last for a long time!).

Tasmanian devil.

The Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) (palawa kani: purinina) is a carnivorous marsupial of the family Dasyuridae. It was formerly present across mainland Australia, but became extinct there around 3,500 years ago; it is now confined to the island of Tasmania. The size of a small dog, the Tasmanian devil became the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world following the extinction of the thylacine in 1936. It is related to quolls, and distantly related to the thylacine. It is characterised by its stocky and muscular build, black fur, pungent odour, extremely loud and disturbing screech, keen sense of smell, and ferocity when feeding. The Tasmanian devil's large head and neck allow it to generate among the strongest bites per unit body mass of any extant predatory land mammal. It hunts prey and scavenges on carrion.

Although devils are usually solitary, they sometimes eat and defecate together in a communal location. Unlike most other dasyurids, the devil thermoregulates effectively, and is active during the middle of the day without overheating. Despite its rotund appearance, it is capable of surprising speed and endurance, and can climb trees and swim across rivers. Devils are not monogamous. Males fight one another for females, and guard their partners to prevent female infidelity. Females can ovulate three times in as many weeks during the mating season, and 80% of two-year-old females are seen to be pregnant during the annual mating season.

Females average four breeding seasons in their life, and give birth to 20 to 30 live young after three weeks' gestation. The newborn are pink, lack fur, have indistinct facial features, and weigh around 0.20 g (0.0071 oz) at birth. As there are only four nipples in the pouch, competition is fierce, and few newborns survive. The young grow rapidly, and are ejected from the pouch after around 100 days, weighing roughly 200 g (7.1 oz). The young become independent after around nine months.

In 1941, devils became officially protected. Since the late 1990s, the devil facial tumour disease (DFTD) has drastically reduced the population and now threatens the survival of the species, which in 2008 was declared to be endangered. Starting in 2013, Tasmanian devils are again being sent to zoos around the world as part of the Australian government's Save the Tasmanian Devil Program. The devil is an iconic symbol of Tasmania and many organisations, groups and products associated with the state use the animal in their logos. It is seen as an important attractor of tourists to Tasmania and has come to worldwide attention through the Looney Tunes character of the same name.

This image really describes my current SL situation. This post will be raw and a bit personal. Take a seat and enjoy the read.

I have been partnered for a year/2 months but not happily especially for the last 6 months. Why? Because I ended up with a person who consistently lied and cheated. The final straw was me catching him myself with my own eyes. Even though, he has cheated 4x ( from Panther, Trinity, Elle, Sophia, and maybe more) that I knew because I was getting messages, notecards, and screenshots of him cheating. I had all the evidence but I stayed because I thought it would change. Guess what , it did not. He continued with the bad behavior and the constant drinking (which was his excuse of his infidelity). The crazy part is when he started blaming me saying, ” I was not around enough.” I totally had to remind him about my job, traveling, and the my illness. Yet, the blame on me! It is amazing how a person and justify the behavior and try to blame someone else for their poor decision making.

To push my buttons more is when he said it is just avatar.

Let me explain something..

There is a real person behind an avatar. Beyond this SL, we talked in RL .. So yes, your avatar is a person because you are sitting behind a screen. You are also the person who you portray as an avatar. Your character is who you are. I know some people use SL to portray something are not in RL (that is most). But subconsciously you are that person. People tend to forget that. Since, I talked to him in RL there was no separation of the two. His fuck ups changed my view of him in both worlds .

To be honest, I hated to log on because I was afraid to get more evidence against him. I know my family and friends kept telling me to leave, but I again I was naïve and had wishful thinking. Dumb on my part .. At times, it just fucking hurt to hear from people who are close to me about how they felt. I often I didn’t want to talk about it because I felt like I am getting judged.

At the end, I had to decide what was best for me and stop worrying so much. So I spend that 25L and released myself. I had to do what was best for me . I was tired of the embarrassment of the unfaithful mate who referred quantity over quality . The person to preferred sex places instead of exploring the grid. A person who always put himself first over the person he claimed he care about. My decision was to be happy and to be around the people who cared about me the most . I chose ME..

Hopefully he will realize that his actions and poor decisions does affect others especially the people he claimed to care about. That his actions does have consequences. Maybe one day he will see the light, but for now. I have to live for me. What I learned is to be true to yourself and do not accept less what you deserve.

"How can you even ask me that, did I not stridulate you a sonnet to express my love? Was it not the artistry of the composition, the care of my song which first drew you to me in the first place?"

"Yes, but..." and she hesitated a moment. "There were others..."

"My dear, it was a song meant for you and no other. Can we not just enjoy the sunset and each other's company?"

She nodded and gazed into the distance, feeling some small comfort, though still wary. She couldn't help but feel like he wasn't telling her something. Later that night she would dig through the garbage to find a discarded flyer; "Lampyrid investigative services: shining a light on the darkest mysteries". She had to know...

Infidelity (synonyms include cheating, straying, adultery, being unfaithful, or having an affair) is a violation of a couple's emotional and/or sexual exclusivity that commonly results in feelings of anger, sexual jealousy, and rivalry.

What constitutes infidelity depends on expectations within the relationship. In marital relationships, exclusivity is commonly assumed. Infidelity can cause psychological damage, including feelings of rage and betrayal, low sexual and personal confidence, and even post-traumatic stress disorder. Men and women can experience social consequences if their act of infidelity becomes public, but the form and extent of these consequences often depend on the gender of the unfaithful person.

Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset (18 March 1589, Charter House, London – 28 March 1624, Dorset House, London) was the son of Robert Sackville, 2nd Earl of Dorset.

Born at Charther House, London, Sackville was styled Lord Buckhurst from 1608 until 1609, when he succeeded his father as Earl of Dorset and inherited the family home of Knole House.

During the years, 1612–24, Sackville served as a Lord Lieutenant of Sussex.

Richard Sackville is perhaps best remembered as the first husband of Lady Anne Clifford; they married on 27 February 1609. Their marriage was not a success; partisans of the Earl tended to blame Lady Anne's powerful personality, while partisans of the Countess pointed to the Earl's repeated infidelities, not to mention his extravagance and indebtedness - “one of the seventeenth century’s most accomplished gamblers and wastrels”.[2].

Rumor noted later by the curious antiquary John Aubrey had it that one of Richard Sackville's "Concubines" was Venetia Stanley. She was said to have had children by him and he settled upon her an annuity of £500 p.a..[3] Among the Earl's other mistresses was Martha Penistone, the wife of Sir Thomas Penistone one of the Earl's retinue.[4]

At the time of their marriage, Lady Anne had been in a long-running legal contest over her inheritance rights; in 1617, the 3rd Earl signed away her claim on contested ancestral lands to James I, in return for a cash payment, which the Earl used to pay off his gambling debts.[5]

The 3rd Earl and Lady Anne had five children between 1615 and 1624; unfortunately none of their three sons, born in 1616, 1618, and 1621, survived their father. Their two daughters, Isabella (born 6 October 1622, died 22 August 1719) and Margaret (born posthumously on 2 July 1624, died May 1676), were longer lived. Margaret became the wife of John Tufton, 2nd Earl of Thanet.

The 3rd Earl died without a male heir on Easter Sunday of 1624 at Dorset House, London, and was succeeded by his younger brother Edward Sackville. The 3rd Earl was buried on 7 April 1624 at St. Michael's Parish Church in Withyham, Sussex.
