Rajwada is the historical palace of the Holkars in Indore,India. It was built about two centuries ago.It is a blend of Maratha, Mughal and French style of architecture.Rajwada has been burnt three times in history. The last fire broke out in 1984 and caused the maximum destruction. The lower three floors are made up of stone, while the top floors are made of wood. This made it very vulnerable to destruction by fire. Now, only the front part of the original structure remains. The palace has recently been renovated, which has managed to bring back the old glory to some extent.

The people of Indore reflect the demography, the multi ethnic backgrounds and the cultural extravaganzas of the Central Indian city. One of the forerunners of the Madhya Pradesh industries, Indore is aptly considered to the business capital of Madhya Pradesh.

Indore has a mixed cultural background with strong traces of the Malwa influence. The Indore people are quite friendly and hospitable. They like to enjoy life and add color to their lives. Consequently, they celebrate all the national festivals with gaiety.

This is a photo I shot from moving train.. You can’t tell, but the train is moving fast and I’m standing on a door to catch this photo. After I pressed the shutter I lowered my camera and had one of those moments. I looked around me and thought to myself, what an utterly weird job I have. Strange, but fantastic....

The traditional floor decoration is known as Alpana and is one of the rarer arts since it is painfully time consuming. The Ink is ground from stones and the brush is the finger. :)

you'll see this dead tree very often in this set. :)
