Das Lighthouse steht für eine visionäre, innovative und weltweit einzigartige Wohnform, ein Wohnerlebnis in der Höhe mit 360° Panorama-Aussicht. Um dies erlebbar zu machen, wurde in besonderer Lage auf der Spitze des Baakenhöfts in der Hamburger HafenCity der Prototyp „Lighthouse Zero“ als Präsentationsobjekt mit vollständiger Inneneinrichtung errichtet. Zentrales Element des Lighthouse ist ein über 20 Meter hoher Turm, auf dem die Wohnebene ruht. Von hier aus bietet sich dem Bewohner eine einzigartige Aussicht in alle Himmelsrichtungen. Ein gläserner Aufzug und eine im Betonschaft versteckte Treppe erschließen die Wohnebene.
Der Wohnraum lässt sich um den Kern herum vollkommen frei gestalten: Ob Loft-artig offen oder mit einzelnen Räumen, das neuartige Wohnkonzept bietet in jedem Bereich einen hohen Grad an Individualisierung. Auf dem Dach befindet sich der 150 Quadratmeter große Dachgarten mit Holzdeck eingefasst von einer in die Dachflächen eingelassenen 70 Quadratmeter großen Photovoltaikanlage. Die besondere Architektur einer 300 Quadratmeter großen Wohnplattform auf einem Schaft von nur drei Metern Durchmesser bietet nicht nur eine phänomenale Aussicht und ein großzügiges Platzangebot, sondern sorgt auch für minimalen Grundflächenbedarf und dadurch für geringste Flächenversiegelung. So wird der Bau auch in schwierigem Gelände wie im oder am Wasser, in hochwassergefährdeten Gebieten oder in ausgeprägten Hanglagen, wo eine Erschließung durch klassische Bebauung nicht denkbar ist, möglich.
The Lighthouse stands for a visionary, innovative and globally unique form of living, a living experience on high with a 360 ° panoramic view. In order to make this tangible, the prototype “Lighthouse Zero” was built as a presentation object with complete interior fittings in a special location on the tip of Baakenhöft in Hamburg's HafenCity. The zone captured here belongs to the water replenishment station, which is almost 25 km from the start. The first part of the station is for the pro-runners with individualized services (shown in the previous post), and the second part is for the amateur ones. This picture is captured in the latter section. The transfer of the carton with water requires the concentration of both the runners and the volunteers because the runners don’t stop to receive it.
The replenishers developed various techniques, from extending the arm and holding it stationary via moving it during the transfer to moving the arm and turning the upper torso with it.

My post-lunch coffee today was at Philz, a small chain in California. Their specialty is making each cup of coffee to order and as a pour over. There’s not a coffee pot to be found. But, this means a bit of a wait for each individualized order. The coffee is so good that I did not mind. By the way, based on my unscientific demographic study of the customers, I am not the “target audience” for this particular experience. #classicneg

1931 Cadillac Series 452-A V16
One car which propelled the Cadillac name more than any other was the V16. Built to each customer’s individual taste, it became an American icon of prestige and helped the company out-perform Packard and their V12. Cadillac initially prepared the V16 to prodigiously power its flagship model with more cylinders than anything else available. The introductory brochure proudly claimed “Sixteen-cylinder powering, complete individuality in style ”that, in brief, is the story of the Cadillac V16.”
At a time when a custom coach-built body was a symbol of status and wealth, the V16 became the one of the most revered chassis. Cadillac wanted the engine to be as vibration-free as possible, and eight combustion cycles per crankshaft revolution combined with balanced internals meant that a V16 was one of the best available packages.
As early as 1926, Ex-Marmon engineer Owen Nacker designed the V16 from two straight-8 Buick units that shared a common crankcase and crankshaft. Each bank was independently operated and only shared a common, center mounted camshaft which operated the valves with pushrods. The 45 degree angle between the banks was unusually narrow to fit inside the chassis. It was named after its 452 inch cubic displacement and produced 185 bhp which was good for 100 mph. It also used a unique hydraulic valve silencing system that reduced noise and was a novel feature in its day.
Chassis details were straight forward and borrowed from Cadillac’s 353/355 line. This included a huge steel ladder frame, rigid axles and hydraulically powered drums brakes to help with the large weight of the car.
Cadillac general manager Lawrence Fisher and GM’s stylist Harley Earl were largely responsible for the V16s styling. Most of the cars were bodied by Fleetwood in Pennsylvania which was later purchased and moved to Michigan by GM to keep business in-house. The customer could choose between 70 or so available bodies that were elaborately finished and all highly individualized in detail. If that wasn’t enough, Cadillac could also provide a bare chassis to be fitted by the independent styling house of the customer’s choice. These arrangements helped Cadillac excel in the luxury custom market.
The engine bay was as finely detailed as many of the bodies that covered it. Chrome and polished aluminum, were used and the wiring loom was neatly concealed.
The V16 was released right after the stock market crash at the New York Auto Show on January 4th, 1930. It became the first production road car to use the V16 which both Marmon and Peerless were also trying to launch. The first V16 shown was a Madame X Landaulet that was designed by Harley Earl a year earlier for two 314-B V8 chassis. The Landaulet was a limousine with division glass, a leather roof and a folding rear roof portion. Following these two special cars, other 4-door Madame Xs were built by Fleetwood in Pennsylvania and these were among the most expensive bodies available.
Despite difficult times, and a price tag higher than any previous Cadillac, the V16 was ordered in huge numbers throughout 1930. GM paraded six cars for European tour and the cars received acclaim by both the press and public. Production reached 2000 examples by June, but by the end of the year, the economic depression nearly hauled sales.
During an eleven year production, 4076 V16s were constructed in several series. Minor upgrades separated the types which included 452, 452B, 452C, 452D. In 1936 they became the Series 60 and Series 90 a year later. These final production cars used a new wide-angle V16 that offered a much lower profile, but kept the same power rating. This new unit also had a square bore and stroke that lower piston speed and crankshaft stress.
After the initial flourish in 1930, production grinded away for ten years with only fifty units made per year. Later, Cadillac reverted to their V12 unit but only after the V16 had made its lasting mark. In the end, Cadillac lost money on every car sold, but it was worth the cost of propelling the marque as a whole. It was estimated the V16 cost Cadillac 54 million dollars.
To emphasize the V16’s place in Cadillac history, a one-of show car was made for the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. Called the ‘Sixteen Concept’, it used a 13.6 liter engine with around and incredible 1000 bhp and 1000 ft lbs of toque on tap. This show car was part of GM’s initiative to re-establish Cadillac as GM’s top brand. Due to its excessive length, the V16 was not feasible in modern cars.

The Fontaine Bartholdi is a fountain sculpted by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and realised in 1889 by Gaget & Gautier. It was erected at the Place des Terreaux, in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon, in September 1892.
The fountain depicts France as a female seated on a chariot controlling the four great rivers of France represented by wildly rearing and plunging horses, highly individualized but symmetrically arranged, with bridles and reins of water weeds. The fountain weighs 21 tons and is made of lead supported by a frame of iron and was presented at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. It has been classified as monument historique since 29 September 1995.

The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família; English: Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family) is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain), designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in November 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica, as distinct from a cathedral, which must be the seat of a bishop.
Construction of Sagrada Família had commenced in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883, taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted his last years to the project, and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete. Sagrada Família's construction progressed slowly, as it relied on private donations and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, only to resume intermittent progress in the 1950s. Construction passed the midpoint in 2010 with some of the project's greatest challenges remaining and an anticipated completion date of 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.

The main nave was covered and an organ installed in mid-2010, allowing the still unfinished building to be used for religious services. The church was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI on 7 November 2010 in front of a congregation of 6,500 people. A further 50,000 people followed the consecration Mass from outside the basilica, where more than 100 bishops and 300 priests were on hand to offer Holy Communion.

Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (Catalan pronunciation: [ənˈtɔni ɣəwˈði]; 25 June 1852 – 10 June 1926) was a Spanish Catalan architect from Reus and the best known practitioner of Catalan Modernism. Gaudí's works reflect an individualized and distinctive style. Most are located in Barcelona, including his magnum opus, the Sagrada Família.
Gaudí's work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. Gaudí considered every detail of his creations and integrated into his architecture such crafts as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry. He also introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadís which used waste ceramic pieces.
Under the influence of neo-Gothic art and Oriental techniques, Gaudí became part of the Modernista movement which was reaching its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work transcended mainstream Modernisme, culminating in an organic style inspired by natural forms. Gaudí rarely drew detailed plans of his works, instead preferring to create them as three-dimensional scale models and molding the details as he conceived them.
Gaudí's work enjoys global popularity and continuing admiration and study by architects. His masterpiece, the still-uncompleted Sagrada Família, is the most-visited monument in Spain. Between 1984 and 2005, seven of his works were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Gaudí's Roman Catholic faith intensified during his life and religious images appear in many of his works. This earned him the nickname "God's Architect" and led to calls for his beatification.
In the Renaissance, art was not an individualistic expression. Art was about sharing communal ideas. At best, the crafted object provided good topics for discussion.
Romanticism put an end to that. Other ideals were developed, such as pursuing personal development (Bildung) and marriage for love (free of money, power and class distinctions). The drama of joy and sorrow was individualized. The artistic genius – an exceptional individual – was placed on a pedestal.
Ron Mueck opposes the cult of personality. In his sculptures he typifies human qualities of a general nature. However, he has such an exceptional eye for detail that it makes you aware of individual differences.
This is just one of a few texture versions I´ve tried for the Cybernetic Arms so far. The texture isn´t final yet (and the tiger sticker may be a bit kitschy) but I wanted to show something.
A friend is writing an awesome script for a HUD to make it possible to change colors and/or baked textures and to choose from various stickers for the upper arm and forearm. The amount of possible variations to individualize the look will be amazing and all accessable from an intuitive and easy to use prim-based menu! =]
It will take a while until the textures and the menu is done but I think it will be out before the end of the week.

The heart of the Elbphilharmonie is the large concert hall, built according to the Weinberg principle. The stage is positioned in the middle of the concert hall & surrounded by terraced public seats for the concert visitors.
Through the vineyard architecture, no spectator sits are more than 30 meters away from the conductor. The wall of the Great Hall, the "White Skin", owes its name to the roughly 10,000 gypsum individual sound measured plasterboards that make up the surface of the walls & ceiling with a large sound reflector installed above the stage. The panels reflecting together with the centre reflector on the ceiling vault the sound in every angle & guarantees optimal listening pleasure on every single seat.
The Façade is covered with 1096 individual fabricated glass elements; each one features an individualized raster print & some each divergently shape, serving as a sunscreen & décor. Each glass element at a cost of 3.000 € average.

This are only very few example of perfection & maximum attention given even to the smallest detail.

Germany, Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonic Concert House at twilight, located at the Hamburg harbour on the way in to the harbours historic warehouse complex & new build harbour city.
The Elbphilharmonic Plaza at a height of 37 metres above ground level, serves as the junction between the old harbour warehouse & the modern glass structure above it. Wave shaped glass windows & doors on both sides of the plaza can be opened, depending on weather conditions. The public viewing platform is accessible daily from 9 am till midnight to everyone with a magnificent 360° view of the harbour & part of the city, opened with a ceremony on November 4. November 2016.

The heart of the Elbphilharmonie is the large concert hall, built according to the Weinberg principle. The stage is positioned in the middle of the concert hall & surrounded by terraced public seats for the concert visitors.
Through the vineyard architecture, no spectator sits are more than 30 meters away from the conductor. The wall of the Great Hall, the "White Skin", owes its name to the roughly 10,000 gypsum individual sound measured plasterboards that make up the surface of the walls & ceiling with a large sound reflector installed above the stage. The panels reflecting together with the centre reflector on the ceiling vault the sound in every angle & guarantees optimal listening pleasure on every single seat.

Researchers think that high blood sugar and insulin levels are risk factors for Alzheimer’s because insulin resistance may also occur in the brain, which may impact memory.

Of course, everything can be eaten in moderation in a healthy, balanced eating plan. “While fine once in a while, research has found that a diet that is consistently high in added sugar may increase the amyloid plaque buildup in the brain,” says Laura M. Ali, M.S., RDN. "These plaques disrupt the communication system in our brain, and scientists have found that people with Alzheimer’s disease tend to have more of these plaques.”
In fact, says Ali, one study found that every 10 grams of added sugar consumed per day (equivalent to 2½ teaspoons of sugar or 8 gummy candies) was associated with a 1.3% to 1.4% increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Those with the highest daily added sugar intake had 19% higher odds of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

I have many better images but this one tells a story: In the Eared Grebe's brood there is always one youngster who is easily bored with mother's repetitive lessons on diving for food as well as safety. This adventurous dabchick would rather be out exploring the great and mysterious world of the wild marsh impervious, of course, to dangers posed by Harriers and large wading birds.
I have seen on numerous occasions an irate mother, suddenly noticing a "wandering one," charge after and mercilessly assault the little offending grebe. Totally cowed and traumatized the former carefree explorer will attentively face mother for prolonged individualized instruction on the art of ducking under the surface.
This tells me that survival of the species relies as much on instruction as it does on instinct and that, while patient reinforcement of instincts is the norm, occasionally more drastic measures must be employed to over-ride individual tendencies.

The Military has to represent the new Galactic Empire and, thus, embody uniformity and coldness to intimidate and discourage any rebellious behavior. The highly personalized armor of the clones is to be replaced with new uniform white armor, and all the vehicles were to be re-colored in Imperial Grey.
After arriving on Coruscant, all clone troopers were to report immediately to the new imperial facilities to retrieve their new armor. Only a few veterans were allowed to keep their individualized armor as a sign for their heroic actions in battle.
Before heading out to hunt down the remaining Jedi and traitors, all clone commanders were assigned under the new command of non-clone Imperial generals, replacing the traitorous Jedi generals.
Meanwhile, Imperial technicians were assigned to repaint Republic vehicles to meet the standards of the new Imperial Army.

The whole harbour area dipped every night in blue light for ten days, a worldwide unique light art production. The event will end with the “Hamburg Cruise Days”, this year eleven cruise liner are expected on the weekend, which will end with a giant firework during a pared of all cruise liners on Saturday night & a departure parade on Sunday afternoon.

From what I understand, Croatian vanity plates are relatively rare due to their relatives high price.
The plate is a bit strange, Zhongya is clearly a Chinese name.
It seems to be tied to the Chinese-owned real estate company Zhongya Nekretnine - who failed payments for a hotel in 2020.

Accomplished in November 2016, the new 110 mtr, 26 floors high Elbphilharmonic, includes a large concert hall with a capacity for 2150 guest, a small concert hall with a capacity for 550 guest, a 244 rooms hotel, restaurants & 44 luxury apartments. Initial cost estimated in 2005 185 million €, by completion estimated cost will have increased to approximately 800 million €.
The Façade is covered with 1096 individual fabricated glass elements; each one features an individualized raster print & some each divergently shape, serving as a sunscreen & décor. Each glass element at a cost of 3.000 € average.

Paying visitors viewed the cylindrical painting from the inside, entering through an entrance in the floor. After being seated, the central cylinder rotates slowly, affording a view of the entire painting. The painting at one time was the largest oil painting in the world,

The heart of the Elbphilharmonie is the large concert hall, built according to the Weinberg principle. The stage is positioned in the middle of the concert hall & surrounded by terraced public seats for the concert visitors.
Through the vineyard architecture, no spectator sits are more than 30 meters away from the conductor. The wall of the Great Hall, the "White Skin", owes its name to the roughly 10,000 gypsum individual sound measured plasterboards that make up the surface of the walls & ceiling with a large sound reflector installed above the stage. The panels reflecting together with the centre reflector on the ceiling vault the sound in every angle & guarantees optimal listening pleasure on every single seat.

The Elbphilharmonic Plaza at a height of 37 metres above ground level, serves as the junction between the old harbour warehouse & the modern glass structure above it. Wave shaped glass windows & doors on both sides of the plaza can be opened, depending on weather conditions. The public viewing platform is accessible daily from 9 am till midnight to everyone with a magnificent 360° view of the harbour & part of the city, opened with a ceremony on November 4. November 2016.

Having Alzheimer’s disease means living with a progressive disorder that causes brain cells to degenerate and die, leading to a continuous decline in memory, thinking skills and the ability to perform everyday tasks. Sadly, as the disease progresses, even basic activities and communication become challenging.
Several factors influence the risk of developing dementia, with some being completely beyond your control. Aging is the most significant risk factor, as individuals over the age of 65 are more susceptible. Genetics also play a crucial role, with specific genetic mutations directly linked to Alzheimer’s disease. However, along with unchangeable factors, certain lifestyle choices can help lower the risk of cognitive decline, with diet being a pivotal piece of the puzzle. “Some of the best foods for brain health are antioxidant-rich wild blueberries, salad greens for B vitamins, salmon for its anti-inflammatory fatty acids, fiber-rich black beans, and walnuts, the best source of plant-based omega-3 ALA among nuts,” says Maggie Moon, M.S., RD. There are some foods you should avoid when focusing on brain health support too, with candy being the #1 food on that list.
Why You Should Limit Candy for Brain Health
Taking steps to reduce dementia risk is one positive step for brain health. While there isn’t one food that will cause dementia, high-added-sugar candy tops the list of foods that should be limited on a brain-healthy diet.
“Candies are not your brain’s friend,” Moon says. She points to a study that found that eating too much added sugar more than doubled the risk for dementia. “That includes added sugar from candies, as well as other sweets like pastries, sweetened café drinks and sodas,” she says. Researchers think that high blood sugar and insulin levels are risk factors for Alzheimer’s because insulin resistance may also occur in the brain, which may impact memory.

Of course, everything can be eaten in moderation in a healthy, balanced eating plan. “While fine once in a while, research has found that a diet that is consistently high in added sugar may increase the amyloid plaque buildup in the brain,” says Laura M. Ali, M.S., RDN. "These plaques disrupt the communication system in our brain, and scientists have found that people with Alzheimer’s disease tend to have more of these plaques.”
In fact, says Ali, one study found that every 10 grams of added sugar consumed per day (equivalent to 2½ teaspoons of sugar or 8 gummy candies) was associated with a 1.3% to 1.4% increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Those with the highest daily added sugar intake had 19% higher odds of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

Limiting sweetened candy doesn't guarantee that you won't get dementia, but it is a positive step forward. Along with limiting added sugar in your diet, here are some other ways to reduce your dementia risk:
Exercise by participating in both aerobic activity and resistance exercise.
If you smoke cigarettes, take the first steps to quit.
Limit alcohol intake. If you regularly drink alcohol, try to do so in moderation. Excessive drinking is linked to cognitive decline. Moderate drinking means two drinks or less in a day for men and one drink or less in a day for women.
Stay socially engaged. Maintaining social connections builds your cognitive reserve to maintain good brain function with age.
If you have chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, make sure you’re managing these well. Stiffness in arteries and blood vessels can damage the brain. If you need help or individualized advice, reach out to a healthcare professional.
Include brain-healthy foods in your diet. The MIND diet emphasizes foods like whole grains, nuts, berries, vegetables and olive oil, which research shows may help support brain health. “The brain-healthy MIND diet limits foods high in saturated fats and added sugars because both are linked to oxidative stress, inflammation and the brain plaques and tangles associated with Alzheimer’s disease,” says Moon. She clarifies that this diet limits—but does not eliminate—fried foods, pastries and sweets, red meat, whole-fat cheese and butter.

Nothing will guarantee that you will live a life free from dementia. But certain steps may help reduce your risk, with your dietary choices being one factor. And along with eating brain-healthy foods, limiting your candy intake can help keep you cognitively sharp. Enjoying a small handful of candy corn on Halloween or conversation hearts on Valentine’s Day won’t “cause” dementia. “It’s important to remember that no single food eaten once, or even once in a while, is going to make or break your brain health,” Moon adds.

Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (Catalan pronunciation: [ənˈtɔni ɣəwˈði]; 25 June 1852 – 10 June 1926) was a Spanish Catalan architect from Reus and the best known practitioner of Catalan Modernism. Gaudí's works reflect an individualized and distinctive style. Most are located in Barcelona, including his magnum opus, the Sagrada Família.
Gaudí's work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. Gaudí considered every detail of his creations and integrated into his architecture such crafts as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry. He also introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadís which used waste ceramic pieces.
Under the influence of neo-Gothic art and Oriental techniques, Gaudí became part of the Modernista movement which was reaching its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work transcended mainstream Modernisme, culminating in an organic style inspired by natural forms. Gaudí rarely drew detailed plans of his works, instead preferring to create them as three-dimensional scale models and molding the details as he conceived them.
