Thekkady(Idukki district) is a town near Periyar National Park, an important tourist attraction in the Kerala state of India. The named Thekkady is derived from the word "thekku" which means teak. This place experiences a pleasant climate all over the year. It drops to its lowest in the month of December-January and highest in the month of April-May.
Thekkady is located about 257 km (160 mi) from Trivandrum, 141 km from Madurai City and Madurai Airport, 145 km from Cochin International Airport and 114 km from Kottayam railway station. Thekkady is located near to Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The sanctuary is famous for its dense evergreen, semi-evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savanna grass lands. It is home to herds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs. Due to the density of the forest sightings of elephants and in particular, tigers are highly unlikely.
The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread across 777 km2 (300 sq mi), of which 360 km2 (140 sq mi) is thick evergreen forest. The wildlife sanctuary was declared a tiger reserve in 1978. The splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. The greatest attractions of Periyar are the herds of wild elephants, deer and bison that come down to drink in the lake. The sanctuary can be accessed by trekking, boating or jeep safari.
Thekkady is considered a haven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, nutmace, ginger, and clove.

Becoming one with the light
During my trip to India, I took a lot of pictures of doors, old ones, ornate ones, woodenn ones, metal ones, colourful ones, etc. I don't know why but I am attracted to doors that have character.
I do think that this one is special because of the light coming through the door, and giving me the impression that if I open it, I will become one with the light, and transcend the limits of my body.
It was taken inside the Palace inside the Amber (or Amer) Fort, located in Amer, a town 11 kilometres from Jaipur, in the Rajasthan state of India.

The common myna (Acridotheres tristis), sometimes spelled mynah, also sometimes known as "Indian myna", is a member of the family Sturnidae (starlings and mynas) native to Asia. An omnivorous open woodland bird with a strong territorial instinct, the myna has adapted extremely well to urban environments.

The Ghoom Railway is famed for its vintage steam locomotives, which add a nostalgic charm to the ride.
The DHR is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the narrow-gauge "Toy Train" route is indeed known for its steam locomotives and the nostalgic experience they provide, which includes views of dense forests, tea gardens, and the Kanchenjunga peak

2018 should be considered the year "Hazed Out India". Wherever we went it was covered in Haze.
This shot was covered in Haze and this is the result after processing the RAW file to remove Haze. I could not remove the haze completely , but it does give it a mystic feel.

Outdoor laundry at one of the Dhobi Ghat of Varanasi, also known as Benares), a city on the banks of the Ganges in the Uttar Pradesh state of North India.
The clothes are washed by beating them on the stone wash slabs at the ghats, scrubbing vigourously and then rinsing them in the river water. The results are not always great given the water quality and the methods used.
In Jaipur, we used the hotel laundry service (something I had never done before in all my travels) and my pants came back very nicely pressed but the stains I wanted out were still there. It was only once I got home that I got them out.

The photographer
In Udaipur, in the Indian state of Rajasthan, our hotel had a roof-top restaurant, from which we could watch the sun rise or set. So we got up early in the morning to watch the sunrise. On the roof of a building close by, I spotted this youg man that came out just as I was taking my last shot of the sunrise. He did not stay very long at all. I had time to get only one shot before he put his camera down.
