Tell tale bullet holes on some of the walls in the structures in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar which saw the massacre of thousands of unarmed civilians by the demented Gen. Dayer. Also spelt Dyer, without warning the crowd to disperse, blocked the main exits from the garden. He 'explained' later that this act was not to disperse the meeting but to punish the Indians for disobedience. Dyer ordered his troops to begin shooting toward the densest sections of the crowd. Firing continued for approximately ten minutes. Cease-fire was ordered only when ammunition supplies were almost exhausted, after approximately 1,650 rounds were spent. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)

PRAKASH SWAMY WAS PARADED IN THE PARADE BY FIA IN AUG 2013
As per FIA for the first time South Indian Stars Sarath Kumar & Radhika Sarath Kumar has joined the parade as Grand Marshal. This has been made possible by Journalist Prakash Swamy the owner of dubious non profit organization Shi Vari Foundation Inc. that is missing over $25,000.00. He cut a deal with FIA to dupe Sarath & Radhika to be the guest of corrupt FIA. At one time Swamy in his article "Grow Up FIA For India's Sake" accused FIA of non transparency, no accountability, mismanagement and racism. Surprisingly Swamy press release says it will be an honor for Sarath & Radhika Kumar to walk in (Insult) India Parade!

The Indian Panorama Editor Prof. Saluja wrote in his Editorial on 8-16-13 that Federation of Indian Associations NY/NJ/CT ( FIA ) is not a representative organization of Indian Americans because barring 1-2 all the office bearers are from one community and one state of India.
Another look at the diorama depicting the destruction due to the partition- the cooking pot places strategically in the foreground makes the shot and speaks volumes for the tragedy which followed. In the end, although the politicians might have achieved their short sighted political ideals, it left two countries divided and till this day wary of each other's intentions and constantly suspicious of each other. Corrupt politicians and army men only wake things worse. We only hope that in these days of widespread social media, the younger generation, who do not recognize trivialities like race, caste, skin colour or religion, will eventually cause the current divisions to become obsolete and irrelevant. FIA: OFFICIALS VIOLATING US LAWS FOR A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION BY TAKING POLITICAL SIDES BY CAMPAIGNING FOR BLOOMBERG.
A last look at some of the bullet holes on one of the surviving walls in the Jallianwala Bagh which stand as silent testimony to the senseless killing of innocent civilians by a demented British Gen. Dayer. Marking the bullet holes has dampened the effect somewhat, but these large square marks are infinitely superior to the small, thick round marks places around some of these bullet holes which I had seen on my last visit here way back in 1979. There are several unmarket bullet holes though, which you saw just before this picture. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
The partition of one country into India, Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) was a real tragic comedy of errors, which led to several millions being killed, or becoming destitute or having their homes divided. Political leaders of the time might have fulfilled their personal agenda but the backlash on both sides led to mass destruction and virtual genocide. And to add insult to injury, the actual partition was done by an idiot called Radcliffe who had never even visited this region, had no idea what was going on and simply did the partition by drawing a squiggly line across territories. This sign gives a rather sordid account of the state of affairs immediately after partition. The sign is fairly self explanatory if viewed in full screen or expanded mode. (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
Shooting blindly by sticking my camera lens through the grilled window on the other side of the Martyrs' Well was marginally more successful. You can at least judge the depth of the well from this angle. (I took the previous shot from the window at the far end). One has to be really desperate to jump into this to save one's life! Although the construction of the shrine like structure has dampened the effect somewhat, I did not recall the well being quite this big when I had visited earlier in 1979 either. Oh well. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)

A closer view of the walls damaged by bullets by the indiscriminate firing and massacre of innocent civilians by a demented British Gen. Dayer. A clear acrylic sheet cordons off the walls to prevent stupid tourists scribbling graffiti on the walls or defacing (and then desecrating) them in any way. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
Insult India Parades in America: Funded by Indian Tax Payers
Gen Singh is facing criminal defamation suit and was recently pulled up by Armed forces Tribunal for promoting a undeserving Officer from his own unit in 2011. The Indian Army has also requested the Defense Ministry to order a high-level probe into the functioning of a top secret intelligence unit set up by Gen (retd) V K Singh, suspecting it of carrying out "unauthorized operations" and financial wrongdoings. He was also pulled by Metropolitan Magistrate Jay Thareja on the issue of Judge to recuse himself from the Criminal Defamation Charges filed against him by Gen. (retd) Tejinder Singh. The Judge also warned Gen. V. K. Singh of action over the conduct. This is the same General who wanted to be in service for 10 more months by changing his date of birth and took Government of India to Court!

A larger sign at the entrance to the Jallianwala Bagh with more details of the senseless carnage by Gen Dayer and his army which led to the death and injury of thousands of innocent unarmed civilians who had gathered at the site for a local Baisakhi festival and cattle fair. The sign is fairly self explanatory if viewed in full screen mode. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images). A Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) commemorating the victory of Maratha Kingdom over the forces of British East India Company during the First Anglo-Maratha War (1779 CE). Arguably it was the only victory of a native Indian power over the British in India, whereby the British had to surrender and sign a treaty. This pillar is located off NH-4, Malinagar, Wadgaon (Vadgaon) Maval, near the town of Pune, India. The victory pillar marks the place whereby the British were forced to sign a treaty with the victorious Marathas
Bonding with my brother at Jallianwala as my sis in law catches up on texting in the background. It is of course an even in history, several decades old, so we might as well come to terms with it and look at the positive side of things like the beauty of the garden and how well it has been restored to truly commemorate those who died in the senseless massacre by a demented British army general. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
Not wanting to be bogged down by the disappointment of the large shrine like structure built above the Martyrs' Well, in which some unfortunate victims jumped in to save themselves from the senseless massacre by Gen Dayer, I tried to stick my camera lens through the window grille to to shoot into the well. Mission unsuccessful from this end- I could not make out much save for a pipe running across the well. I made another attempt from the other side which was marginally better- see next picture. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
A brilliant portrayal in the Partition Museum as to how the country is sliced into two. You can almost feel the pain of the saw cutting into you. The mastermind Jinnah who was responsible probably acted upon impulse or miscalculation. But his questionable decision led to hundreds up thousands led and millions worth of property destroyed on both sides. And while Indians and Pakistanis may be proud of their respective countries in their own right, Jinnah himself regretted his decision later in life, calling it a his biggest blunder. None of what he had aimed for by separating the two religions had been achieved despite the heavy loss of life and property. (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)

Inside the Azadi Express
The Azadi Express is running on Indian Railways for commemorating the 150th Anniversary of "First Struggle of Indian Independence"
Another look at the now abandoned old buildings on the periphery of the Jallianwala Bagh memorial/ garden which now stand as silent sentinels to the Jallianwalla Bagh massacre of innocent and unarmed Indian civilians by a demented British Gen. Dayer. (also spelt Dyer). For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
Signs in four languages (English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu) proclaim that this is the lane through which Gen. Dayer led his forces to massacre thousands of innocent Indian civilians who had gathered for a local festival in the Jallianwala Bagh. We are walking through that lane now (see previous pictures.) Refer to previous pictures earlier in this album for details about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)

This is the long shot of the Martyrs' Well which I has shot earlier while coming into the Jallianwala Bagh memorial. When I had visited last time in 1979, the wall was just that- a well. They ought to have left the well in it's original state- the large shrine like thing constructed above it dampens the effect somewhat. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
