Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) announced the reintroduction of The Inclusive Prosperity Act — HR 1579 — a bill inspired by the Robin Hood Tax and supported by a large and growing list of endorsers. The bill seeks to raise up to $350 billion annually through a sales tax on Wall Street financial transactions, funds whose goal is to rebuild our communities, assist international efforts to treat HIV/AIDS, and to combat climate change. Towards an Inclusive Peace is a three-year project (2017-2019) part of the Caux Forum that looks beyond security driven approaches to violent extremism. By taking a peacebuilding perspective based on conflict transformation practices, Towards an Inclusive Peace creates a space for the discussion of a human-centered approach to address this phenomenon.

Muslim Voters Detect a Snub from Obama:
Mr. Ellison believed that Mr. Obama’s message of unity resonated deeply with American Muslims. He volunteered to speak on Mr. Obama’s behalf at a mosque in Cedar Rapids, one of the nation’s oldest Muslim enclaves. But before the rally could take place, aides to Mr. Obama asked Mr. Ellison to cancel the trip because it might stir controversy. Another aide appeared at Mr. Ellison’s Washington office to explain.
“I will never forget the quote,” Mr. Ellison said, leaning forward in his chair as he recalled the aide’s words. “He said, ‘We have a very tightly wrapped message.’ ”
