The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and Moulham Foundation held an official agreement signing ceremony for the “Schools Rehabilitation Project in Idlib Governorate,” marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to expand access to safe and inclusive education for vulnerable children and adolescents. The ceremony took place at the AKF office in Salamieh under a formal protocol and confirmed both organizations’ commitment to rehabilitating two damaged schools in Maarat Al-Naasan and Talmenes. The project aims to support returnee children lacking safe schooling, learners who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out, children with disabilities requiring accessible environments, as well as teachers, administrative staff, and local community members. The agreement was signed by Mr. Bakhtiyor Aziz Mamadov, AKF Programs Director, and Mr. Mohamad Al-Shaikh, Executive Director of Moulham Foundation, in the presence of representatives from the Education Program, Community Engagement, and Communications teams—reflecting a unified dedication to strengthening education and community resilience in crisis-affected areas.
This activity is part of Education Hubs (EHs), which aims to increase the availability of community-based Early Childhood Development (ECD) and education services to children from 6 months to 18 years, alongside awareness sessions for parents and caregivers, and fosters Community of Practice (COP) for ECD Facilitators and EDU volunteers. This activity is funded by AKF and implemented by the National Council.
A follow-up Community-Based Childcare (CBCC) activity was implemented in Salamieh on 21 December 2025, targeting young children aged 0–8 years and their parents in Mufaker and Bare villages. The activity engaged a total of 45 children through interactive Early Childhood Development (ECD) and CBCC sessions designed to support children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development.
The sessions were delivered using the Corner System, applying holistic and integrative approach principles to ensure interactive participation and inclusive learning environments. Children participated actively in age-appropriate ECD/CBCC activities, while parents were encouraged to engage positively with their children throughout the sessions.
This activity contributed to strengthening early childhood wellbeing, enhancing parent–child interaction, and promoting community engagement. It is part of the SMILE education project, which aims to transform lives through holistic education and Early Childhood Development. The project includes Education Hubs and Community-Based Childhood Centers for children aged 3 to 18 years, as well as a Family Center for children aged 6 months to 3 years, focusing on cognitive, emotional, and physical development. This activity is funded and implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation.

On 1st July 2024, SDMIMD Mysore and Atlantis University (AU), Florida, US entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aiming to collaborate towards developing a supportive and inclusive learning environment, in the form of student and faculty exchange, conducting joint research, and so on.
On this occasion, Mr. Kailash Chintamani, MD of Atlantis University, US, stated that AU is looking forward to a fruitful academic partnership with SDMIMD. Dr. S. N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, opined that, this academic association would give students at SDMIMD greater opportunities to get developed into global citizens.
