The Inca Trail starts from a point in the Sacred Valley, called "Kilometer 82". To begin the journey, you cross a narrow bridge in Kusicancha, and then you head towards the left side of a eucalyptus forest. This trip is not suitable for cardiac people as it passes over 4,600 meters above sea level, the road winds up, down and around the mountains on ancient carved stone stairs, and then continues through three high Andean mountain passes , one of them with a disturbing name, "Dead Woman's Pass."
