A HDR composite of winter sunsets over Clent.

This collection of images is in color—my first collection contained black and white photos. The film simulation I used for this collection was not something I normally would have chosen—it was a little bold, intense and flashy for me. Since I didn’t want to spend money on the FIMO app I was using on my phone for this project I embraced the constraints this led to and used this simulation because it came free with the app. This exercise in getting outside my comfort zone was a growing experience for me. I found it interesting how the app made variable, random decisions for me adding elements I had no control over—bright, saturated colors and simulated light leaks—that added an element of joy, surprise and cheer to the pictures I took which I found to sometimes be uplifting and encouraging.

This photo project has been very meaningful and helpful with my efforts to cope with my own intense, moment to moment mental health struggles. It is my hope that perhaps there can be something beneficial, encouraging or inspiring within the project for you as well.

Daggen räcker till alla grässtrå. . . . . . .

Lära sig att ta det lugnt och tänka på alla (inte bara sig själv).

Förstå att man inte behöver trängas eller stressa.

Få insikt i att man kan vara med och skapa en trevlig stämning genom sitt sätt att vara.

Paupers grave, Vienna. A short tram ride and walk to the outskirts of Vienna to Mozarts original burial site in an unmarked paupers grave. A head stone was placed here, but was then moved to a memorial site to be shared with Schubert and Beethoven.

Sunset looking east...

Straight out of the camera (SOOC)

Lots of dynamic range in the scene. This is with no processing.

...even if the snow and windchill did penetrate my inadequate jacket and gloveless hands. The day hovered around -2 celsius with windchill gusts. Overcast and blustery until the sun began to set.

This is facing east over some of the back forty, and we feel fortunate when the setting sun paints the top of the trees and sky.

I had my monopod, but decided to plop on the ground and use the elbow tripod. Frozen fingers kept me from continuing to capture the increasing hues in the sky, both east and west.

Now that I've located winter gear and remembered to warm the camera, I hope to improve on a few east or west sunsets. Even sunrises, if I carry that vital caffeine with me. NOT a morning person.

Thanks for looking. I know my beginner efforts at landscapery leave too much in the middle and don’t anchor the whole setting, and that ideally I would use a 14-24mm lens I rented, so I think I’ll turn off comments. And now they’re back.

in between old thoughts and new beginnings

is the ephemeral yet eternally lucid "now".

in her secret garden, she rides the journey of "now"

accompanied by four immeasurables * in her Heart

she generously unlocks the gates of perception

to our unknowing through her innocent play.

befriending her, our humility to learn from her

brings us hope, slowly, and often, joyfully

each cycle of her play, of her cosmic dance

in the hierarchy of her life has it own ‘wholeness’ -

- and at the same time interwoven it is,

as a refuge of something larger - safeguarding truth.

her every ride is secured in the renewal of -

- lifelong intention to cultivate a balanced awareness

i remember what L.L. Barkat said,

"resistance is the clue that play is not happening."

at the heart of the playful journey -

- at your own pace of learning...

wishing everyone joy and peace

in the interwoven weave of balance -

- created in the continuum moment

Fermati ogni tanto.

Buona giornata!

Macro Monday project - 05/04/09

“In the Moment”

It was raining all day and the host of my Airbnb greeted me with the words „Not the best weather during your trip, huh?“, and I smiled and kept to myself that in fact, it was just the right weather.

You don’t mess with a Russian who grew up in Italian / Sicilian neighborhood !!! You just don’t !! 😂

Silence spreads like a wordless prayer. The lake breathes slowly, as time dissolves along the line where water meets sky. Nothing asks for haste.

There is an invisible dialogue between she and the horizon – a conversation that needs no sound, only presence. The tree, stripped of its leaves, understands. It bends with the wind but stands tall, holding secrets that winter cannot erase.

The bench is not just a place to rest but a space where thoughts drift lightly, dancing between what is and what once was. Solitude, here, does not weigh heavy. It spreads like light over the water, turning every absence into a poem.

At the lake’s edge, what feels missing becomes whole.

***

Can anybody tell me why we're lying here on the floor

And neither of us can barely breathe at all

The doctors saying hold on tight as we say our last goodbyes

And this is a moment that changes our whole lives

And I still believe in the good, and I still believe in the light

And I wanna feel the sun , I wanna free you tonight

And I still believe in the good, and I still believe in the light

And I wanna feel the sun, I wanna free you

And I'm falling, watching as you're hurting

I'm down here I'm on my knees, how can I survive?

And you turn to me and promise me you're ready

And tell me you'll be waiting on the other side

-from Into the Light performed by Maria Brink of In The Moment

I stumbled upon this song by accident. I found it quite profound and haunting. And I thought about how so many of us have had to deal with “last goodbyes”. I also thought about the recent tragedy in central Italy. And all the daily tragedies we read and hear about. I was in tears even before the song was over. Here’s the ENTIRE SONG if you wish to listen to it (video will open in a new window).
