The bottle is a frosted miniature perfume bottle that stands 4cm high. You're looking at the top quarter of the bottle.

Within the bottle are the many stems of baby's breath.

A MM reject as I thought it a bit close to the size limit but I took it with the lensbaby so I'm making it part of my 100x project.

I used a gold reflector as the background.

Outtake from Macro Monday's theme "In a Bottle" (please see first comment). Believe it or not, this is the "water with olive oil and dish detergent" version. In fact the images with water and oil hadn't turned out the way I wanted to, maybe it was not enough oil, I don't know. I then wanted to clean the vial, and noticed that the mixture of soap, oil and water made extra "fluffy" bubbles (though not white bubbles anymore, of course, but rather yellow-ish ones), so I decided to take some more captures before finally cleaning the vial. When I developed the image, I again did some split toning and tweaked the colours' saturation in LR and ON1 in order to jazz the rather dull artificial light colours up.

Size of the frame: 6 x 6 cm / 2,3 x 2,3 inches (again)

Macro Mondays topic 'In a Bottle'

I thought of Vintage Recycling - Glass bottle with milk in it and a paper straw - Simples.

Lemon infused olive oil. Bottom 2" of a tall, narrow bottle about 1.75" in diameter. 3 thin lemon slices in the olive oil. Reminds me of something that might come from a Sci-Fi movie.

The Capture shows the view through the narrow head of a small green decoration bottle with a big belly. Inside there are pink colored decoration granulates with the size of about 2 or 3 millimeters a piece.

HMM to all.

I'm sure there will be a few other Messages in a Bottle for Macro Monday, but I couldn't resist.

Tiny scent bottle, with a scroll of handmade paper inside. Tried a treasure island style map, but it didn't work.

Photographed on sand on a blue patterned plate, with tiny gems to add some bokeh on an f2.8 layer for the "water" twinkles.

For Macromondays, just to prove that it's really a bottle.

Ball bearings with dilute ink in an old bottle.

One of the interesting things about living in an old village is that you never quite know what you are going to dig up in the garden. This is an old bottle, suitably battered and worn from it’s burial experience.

I chose it for the image because of its interesting shape. At around two inches tall it was also a good size for this week’s Macro Mondays theme In a Bottle. You can tell it’s an old bottle because of the thick lopsided glass on the bottom, the bubbles in the glass and the centre seam. It’s mass produced though and colourless glass so not as ancient as some of our archaeological finds.

One of the challenges with the theme was to put something interesting in the bottle. I took the easy way out and just added ball bearings (easily bought at a fishing shop - just ask for catapult ammunition!) and water, coloured with fountain pen ink.

To bring out the textures in the glass I lit it from behind and above with two LED penlights. Yep, I’ve doubled my investment in photographic studio lighting, though the second doubled up as a Christmas present for my wife :) .

Thank you for taking time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Mondays!

[Lit from behind and above with LED penlights; on black glazed tile with back card behind. Tripod, remote release, VR off, focussed in Live View.

Toyed with the exposure and lighting in Lightroom; a bit of extra clarity and vibrance.

In Affinity Photo selected the background and used Levels filter to remove it by upping the black point.

Sharpened with acombination of Unsharp Mask and High Pass blended with Linear Light blend mode. Finally used an HSL adjustment layer to change the ink colour to purple from an unappetising orange :).]
