Birds are widely believed to have descended from the dinosaurs and looking at the Gannet Bempton's signature bird it is easy to see why. Looking like something straight out of prehistory they are a beautiful and elegant bird.

The northern gannet is the largest of the gannet family and native to the Atlantic Ocean.

This beauty was in the process of trying to find an available landing site on the highly populated cliffs.

As always I extend my sincere gratitude to all who are kind enough to comment and fave my photos or even stop by and just have a look. It is very much appreciated.

After a fishing trip terns often shake off the water. It only lasts under a second so you have to be quick on the trigger as soon as you see the first sign of a shake. It can be frustrating at times as it can be anywhere between 2 seconds after a dunking to never when they shake so you cannot simply go machine gun style and hope.

This bighorn ram seems to be posing like the statue behind him. Taken in downtown Radium Hot Spring BC, where they are entertaining local residents. There is a herd of approximately 150 that call Radium home.

Radium holds an annual 2-day Headbanger Festival in November when the sparring begins. One can hear them slamming their heads together for miles around.

Gotta check that out.

Thank you for taking a look. Always appreciated.

A Little Blue Heron does it's best Dodo impersonation

Gracie's a round little girl

A companion shot to yesterday's post. After it had escaped from that little bush it pretty much disappeared into the reeds a bit farther away.

Since I was wearing rubber boots I decided to cross a damp ditch and take my chances walking through the reeds growing in what must be a dried up pond, in hopes of getting closer. That didn't work, as I could not spot it. It could likely hear or see me and stayed hidden. As soon as I returned to my parked car it would poke it's head up.

It was almost like a game of hide and seek. If I was to cross the road even to try and get closer it would duck down and then show up elsewhere. This is a pretty decent crop. It is no wonder I rarely spot these guys who can be still enough to appear perhaps as a dead stump. I am surprised that it did not simply just fly away, as they usually do. All in all I was thrilled with the encounter.

Whenever I see a Green Heron posed like this during or after preening, I can't help but see a little Tom Turkey.

Do you see it too?

Jacob impersonates his elder brother in order to receive a blessing of their father Isaac,a scheme conceived by Rebecca, the blind man's wife. Rembrandt made several drawings of the Old Testament subject in the 1640s and a few of his pupils follow suit.In his case Van den Eekhaut emulates the master's style more successfully than his gift for effective staging.

Tug and his best friend, Ryder, are a hoot to watch play. Here Tug is telling Ryder that he will eat his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

For all the teeth you see these boys have never had an altercation.

If you don't know who Questlove is, he is the drummer and a producer from the band called The Roots.

The Eastern Tailed-blue (Cupido comyntas) likes to behave like a hairstreak rubbing its hindwings with those cute little tails. But in reality, this species is in the Blues sub-family (Polyommatinae), grouped with various Azure species and Silvery Blues. It is easy to see why, when the butterfly opens its wings.
