De Valls de Torroella. Imperial Brown Ale Batea red wine barrel aged. #ImperialAle #Ale #ImperialBrownAle #BrownAle #imperialStout #porter #stout #BaleyWine #BarrelAged #calvados #localbeer #craftbeer #cervesaartesana #cervesaartesanal #beer #pivo #birra #cervesa #cerveza #olut #øl #ビール #пиво #bière #beerporn #beergeek #beernerd #craftbeerlive #hophead #craftbeernotcrapbeer #craftbeerporn #craftbeerlover #starkol #piwo #chelas #beerpic #chelaa

My wife wanted to do some shopping this morning, so I headed over to the brewery for a quick beer and a bowl of soup
A bottle of Abstrakt AB:10 from BrewDog at Grünerløkka mat- og mikrobrygg festival 2012.
Abstrakt AB:10 is the tenth release in the limited BrewDog Abstrakt series, this release is an 11.5% abv imperial brown ale which was aged in red wine barrels from Malaga, Spain. Released in June 2012, only 9,987 bottles were made.
The beer poured a red tinged, dark brown color with a tan head. It sported a sugary sweet aroma, with dried fruits and hints of oak. It had a full bodied mouthfeel with a thick oily texture and a sticky sweetness. The flavor started out syrupy sweet, with a roasted character that didn't really balance the sweetness. As it warmed up I got some alcohol too, but not too much, and hints ripe berries and even some licorice. It finished sweet, with a long, sweet aftertaste.
To me AB:10 turned out too sweet, like a fortified wine, but it could mellow and improve with age.
A bottle of Imperial Brown Ale from Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway, at Olympen in Oslo.
Nøgne Ø Imperial Brown Ale is a 40 IBU, 7.5% abv strong English-inspired imperial brown ale, this particular bottle was brewed in November 2011 so it was still fairly young (the Nøgne Ø Imperial Brown Ale is known to age really well, often peaking after 3-4 years).
It poured a red tinged dark brown color with a massive beige head. It sported a rich aroma of cocoa, toasted nuts and milk chocolate. The mouthfeel was medium heavy with a good carbonation. The flavor started out with a sweet toffee character, some toasted nuts and ripe fruits. As it warmed up a strong cocoa note appeared too. The beer had a mild bitter finish with lingering nuts.
Overall, this is a rich and tasty brown ale.
A bottle of Imperial Brown Ale from Nøgne Ø in Grimnstad, Norway, at Håndverkerstuene in Oslo.
This 7,5% abv imperial brown ale pours a cola brown color with a big beige head. Aroma is sweet, with notes of raisins, caramel and fresh bread. Mouthfeel is soft with a creamy carbonation. The taste is wonderfully balanced with notes of chocolate and caramel mixed with a nice roasted malt flavor and bitter hops. At the age of 1 year, this beer is already close to perfection. One of my favorite Nøgne Ø beers!

My favorite of the night at Goose Island's Wood/Barrel-Aged Beer Class.
This Imperial Brown ale was aged for 6 months in a Heaven Hill barrel, then aged additionally with blackberry and fresh cranberries.

I have spent a large proportion of lockdown number 3 searching for decent beer. The pubs are all shut so I have to get my delicious nectar somehow, and Facebook has finally managed to start providing me with relevant adverts.
This delicious imperial brown ale was part of a dark beer case by Leeds-based brewery Wilde Child. I liked this a lot!
