Il battito dei giunti, accompagnato dal rombo della ormai novantatreenne Malaxa 78.1029, rompe la quiete che caratterizza le estese pianure dell'ovest della Romania. Il binato è immortalato a metà del suo viaggio mentre effettua l'R 3114 proveniente da Oradea e diretto ad Arad, due importanti centri della regione del Crișana. Per compiere il tragitto di 121 km il treno impiega circa 3 ore, attraversando per alcuni chilometri anche la regione della Transilvania.

The sky and sea are immortal in my mind. They were here before me and shall continue into infinity. When I see the sky, moon and ocean I feel close to the people I have loved who have changed from this life to another.
The mystery of it all...
Then we who are living will be gathered up along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:17). This verse about becoming immortal came to mind when I shot this photo. The brightness was almost blinding as the light worked to overcome the darkness.
I'm still glowing after the hike/bushwhack/scramble on Sunday. I went to bed on Sunday night and sat there smiling, still mentally going over all the crazy adventures of the day. I couldn't be happier. I suppose there's something about the human spirit where a good challenge leading to something you love can make you happier than you ever thought possible.
I did dream non-stop about poison oak, but that's another matter entirely.
This is a shot from the front of the waterfall I posted yesterday. I think all of us who visited agree that there's something magic about this place. Days, weeks and possibly months go by without anyone seeing it (how many people really want to climb/angle/fall/slide down a rocky, mossy hillside covered in itchy plants then turn around and climb back up?). Makes it all the more special.

This is a composite of two differently-focused images for a slight Orton effect. I left the edges darker to direct attention to the glowing water. I love those two boulders at the top with the water flowing through, and the twinkling light through the trees.

Sometimes looking at the stones it seems like they are immortal, but water still grind them down event if it takes an eternity realize.

The theme of Immortal brought to my mind an image of time and space. I've attempted to create my own vision of a "black hole" in space.
I reflected the light from my ring light onto a gold reflective card which I angled to produce an effect of depth. In processing I only adjusted brightness and contrast.
I kinda started off with the idea in my head about the Persian Immortals. Then I got carried away lol. She's wearing a shemagh.. the similarity ends there =p

The ANIMESIA series was brought to life last February 2013. It was intended to be a series of artworks that should reflect my imagination and animation only. I then realized that this is the type of series where I can actually jump out of the box-my box. A taste of portraiture was then added to the series's theme last November of the same year. I decided to combine one of my best skill with the subject I do best when I play with it - portraiture and hair (respectively).

We interrupt our travelogue to respond to the #FlickrFriday #Immortal theme. Some living artists--maybe with studios on this hallway in one of Houston's several Art Districts--will take the Art World by storm, and be remembered in perpetuity. My shoot today used Fujifilm's Eterna film sim, which has been resurrected from a discontinued cinema film to an immortal digital representation.
The photo was taken at Sawyer Yards Studios during the 2nd Saturday Open House today. Art remains on the walls from last month's exhibit by residents of one building--The Silos--in the complex. Open signs indicate the presence of artists who will chat, sell art, and probably offer wine or cookies.
Not a big crowd just now, in part because only mad dogs would go out in the extreme heat advisory we have been experiencing for a while, with no end in sight. At least there's air-conditioning.
