This was originally a British colonial department store that was established in Rangoon in 1866 by Rowe & Co. It was one of the British colonial emporia or department stores in Rangoon. The current building dating from 1910, became known as one of the ritziest shopping centers in Southeast Asia (and largest), with its patterns of red and yellow brick, topped with a tower reminiscent of Philadelphia's Independence Hall.
In the book, 'Songs of the Survivors' - edited by Yvonne Vaz Ezdaniit, Rowe & Co is described as, "...it had a really lovely toy shop. Amongst the offerings for the Christmas of 1941, they had displayed a fine electric train set with a layout of tunnels, bridges, shunting yards and the works. Its price tag made sure that I did not get it, although Daddy was tempted."
Following the military coup it became the offices for the Immigration Department until 2005 when an abrupt government decision to move Myanmar's capital from Yangon to a remote redoubt named Naypyitaw left this heritage building (amongst many others) almost totally abandoned, accelerating its deterioration.

This was the scene just after the door opened, with people rushing to get in. So far this year, 60,000 people have arrived in Italy, many of them in Sicily, after hazardous voyages across the Mediterranean, during which many people die. The Dublin protocol governing asylum in the European Union makes people seeking refugee status the responsibility of the first state in which they arrive, placing a severe burden on the states of southern Europe, such as Italy, Greece, Spain and Malta. Many of the people who arrive are fleeing conflict in places like Syria and extreme poverty in Africa. Mostly they just want safety and better lives for themselves and their children and the policies aimed at keeping them out just expose them to more risk and danger.

(1) propaganda posters at Wujiang Lu snack street that's being stolen from the people, and (2) having to extend my Chinese visa in the immigration office in Pudong.
I read that Lubitel needs to be customized to make room for a 135 film roll, but I just squeezed the roll in and shut the back lid. Overlaps and juxtapositions are, of course, unintentional. Now I wish this Lubitel has not been converted to make 16 frames per a 120 roll - I'd be getting longer frames on 35 mm.
when the first time i invite her to come with me to the Immigration Office in Indonesia.
she was happy and also scared because there's so many people in there.

Home of a UK Borders Agency immigration reporting centre, where foreign nationals have to 'sign on' on a regular basis.
Naco, Arizona.
Naco is a tiny border town south of Bisbee in southeastern Arizona. As is typically the case, the town on the Mexican side of the border is up to ten times larger than on the American side. In nearly all cases, U.S. border towns have an adjoining town on the Mexican side. Contrary of what the current White House would have you believe, virtually every border crossing connects two communities that have continual daily economic interaction.
Crowds of foreigners rushing and pushing to get through the door first in order to aplly and process their visa. China's Green card is almost non-existant and visa policies have tightened greatly ofver the last year since the Beijing olympics.
To enter Rwanda with US passport, there was no visa fee. FYI, I paid for 2 $50 Ugandan single-entry visas and $20 for the Burundian 3-day visa.
So this is the immigration. I hate immigration offices because the people are never nice, but here they were! All the people at the counters were so kind and helpful.

There's a lot of movement of people between the Namibia and Botswana side of the Chobe River. This little immigration office at Kasika on the Namibian side, stamps people in and out of the country, often twice on the same day.
