The Eagle EDS facilities meet the highest level of Human Rights detention housing while being processed into the U.S. The facility offers climate comfort and security and personal hygiene while waiting to comply with our legal and international obligations. The EDS system can be moved to accommodate other national regions of immigration detentions. We must be prepared for traditional, seasonal increases in illegal migration. These facilities will provide invaluable surge capacity should apprehensions of adults with children once again surge.

On Friday, May 2nd ? the day after thousands of Bay Area residents marched for immigrants? rights ? immigration agents conducted a large-scale raid at taquerias across San Francisco and the East Bay. Agents arrested about 60 employees at several locations of the El Balazo chain. Some of the workers have been released, but forced to wear electronic ankle bracelets while they await deportation hearings. Others are still imprisoned. Many were interrogated without legal representation.

Taken in the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration.
Ellis Island acted as an immigrant inspection station 1892-1934. The main building is the second on the site (the first, a wooden building, lasted 1892-97 before burning down). The replacement structure was designed by Edward Lippincott Tilton and William A. Boring. The Main Building was built 1897–1900, and the Kitchen and Laundry Building, Main Powerhouse, and Main Hospital Building built 1900–1.
