Finally some fog! I've been dying to shoot in some good thick fog since the last time which was months ago now- but it is the fog season so hopefully we'll have a nice atmospheric one. Going back up to the North Woods for a few days of self imposed exile, hopefully the weather will be good for photography, but it's always nice to get out of Dodge for a while. Save a place for me, I'll be back soon- Nate.

Brush of fall. Autumn is my favorite time of year! The cold weather, the colors, the leaves crunching under my feet, the fresh air. Nothing beats hiking with my pups in the fall foliage in NH. It's my paradise.

An old photo I took in 2013. I'd love to revisit and spend more time exploring the Northumberland coastline, but in the meantime I'll have to make do with looking back at the few photos from my previous visit.

Beneath the veil where waters fall,

One soul floats free, serene and small,

Surrendered to the canyon's call—

No walls, no weight, no world at all.

WARNING, this post contains waterfalls, lots of waterfalls, and it’s just over 7 minutes long, so if you don’t have time, just walk on by, I won’t be offended. If however, you can spare a little time to listen to some beautiful music then make yourself a cup of tea, find a comfortable seat and chill, just watch out for the red herring.

This was really just an exercise for me to use Photoshop’s Timeline which I’m unfamiliar with and at times the ‘old dog, new tricks’ adage came to mind but whilst putting the images together with this hauntingly beautiful music, my overriding thought was how fortunate we are not to worry if we will see the sun set at the end of the day. My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine.

If you do decide to lose 7 minutes you’ll never get back then press L for the larger version on laptop or PC, watch in landscape on a phone, but definitely listen through headphones because the sound's pretty c*** otherwise, not sure why, although it does sound like running water! If anyone can explain I'd be grateful.

...Describe your sorrows and desires, the thoughts that pass through your mind and your belief in some kind of beauty - describe all these with heartfelt, silent, humble sincerity and, when you express yourself, use the Things around you, the images from your dreams, and the objects that you remember. If your everyday life seems poor, don’t blame it; blame yourself; admit to yourself that you are not enough of a poet to call forth its riches; because for the creator there is not poverty and no poor, indifferent place. And even if you found yourself in some prison, whose walls let in none of the world’s sounds – wouldn’t you still have your childhood, that jewel beyond all price, that treasure house of memories? Turn your attentions to it. Try to raise up the sunken feelings of this enormous past; your personality will grow stronger, your solitude will expand and become a place where you can live in the twilight, where the noise of other people passes by, far in the distance. - And if out of this turning-within, out of this immersion in your own world, poems come, then you will not think of asking anyone whether they are good or not. Nor will you try to interest magazines in these works: for you will see them as your dear natural possession, a piece of your life, a voice from it. A work of art is good if it has arisen out of necessity. That is the only way one can judge it.
