A Slinky is a toy pre-compressed helical spring invented by Richard James.
It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum.
I see some other objects in them... LOL

I like walking through the forest when it is pitch-dark and no moon is out to light the path. Human vision can adapt to the tiniest amount of light and see a colourless world where sound becomes equally important for safe navigation. The brain will start imagining things and will fill in the blanks in an attempt to make sense of the impressions which can lead to quite interesting sensing experiences. I start seeing and hearing things that are not there. This environment is equally challenging for the camera. It is mostly noise, nothing much to go by, a few photons here and there, camera algorithms struggling with too little information. So the camera starts seeing things that aren't there - wonderful colours that are just artefacts of electronic processing of noisy signals.

This started from imagining the path as a river, then built on the contrasts between different textures in the original.
Trying to work out where one texture ended and the next began was quite a challenge, but all in all a fun way to start the day on a lazy Sunday morning.

My previous shot turned into a night time scene, one of the purposes of going to this location was to see how it could work for astro. I have a feeling it would be great, although it would be looking more South than this composite.

So you see, imagination needs moodling - long, inefficient, happy idling, dawdling and puttering.

If you squint your eyes just a bit, and indulge your imagination, this image could have been one of many taken in the not too distant past, when the SD40-2 ruled the rails in British Columbia. A GMDD powered CP manifest highballing west out of Kamloops, BC, class lights on, Action Red paint spotless, and charging past the stalwart searchlight signals.
Once you relax and your vision corrects, you note the class lights on the locomotive are long gone, the searchlights replaced by LED colour light signals, and the paint on the venerable diesel is faded, and touched up with other hues. The pigeons sitting on the rails know the true nature of this train, a slow switch job, and are in no hurry to have to depart their positions.
CP 5908 running as local job A52 has a block of 40 cars behind it for the pulp mill near Benledi, BC, milepost 3 of the Thompson Subdivision.
