This photo was taken a couple days ago while walking on route 1 in front of Marathon Deli. Marathon has been a staple of the UMD student diet for years and receives a high amount of business everyday. Along with the money and food being brought in and out, comes germs and dirt. In a densely populated area like college park, disease and bacteria can flourish if not controlled. This is where SDG #3 (Good health and well being) becomes important. This sdg focuses on providing and maintaining an environment that supports good health. People should be able to go about their daily lives without having to worry about catching some terrible disease and receive treatment as needed. This is why masks have become a necessity today. In this picture you see multiple signs on Marathon’s door requiring and promoting the use of a face mask. This action by businesses and the government is crucial in lowering risk of disease. If people are literally not allowed to get food or go to the store without their mask then they will put on a mask. This ensures the safety of the community while still allowing it to function.
