A simple shot, yet so much detail packed into this photo. Taken near the dorms on campus, I went through great lengths to capture this shot. I slipped in mud twice and ruined a pair of pants all for this tedious shot of a rock. The brown earthy tones of the tree-line in the background along with the moss and dirt embedded into this stone make for a really pretty color combination. The shading on the rock itself plays a major role in the photo while the left side is lit up, the right side seems more dull and almost gross. There are so many different colored, and shaped dots throughout the rock giving immense detail from form. Zooming in on the rock gives absolutely no context to what it exactly is, and it almost looks like the surface of a never-before seen planet. The focus on the rock provides a blurry background although it’s easy to tell this shot was taken on a riverbank. The depth of this photo is a bit different than my other shots simply because it is impossible to tell the size of the whole rock which gives off the idea this rock is really big, but actually this rock is about the size of a volleyball. This shot is really still not providing much movement for the viewer, but the branches of the dead tree behind the rock are quite chaotic adding diversity to the scene.
