Here is our lovely old boy, Stitch, aka the Stupid One. He has featured in every 365 since 2012 and has a Flickr album to himself! He is getting on in years and has not been himself recently. We're hoping it is a blip but it maybe that his dog years are finally catching him. He grew up with the kids and puts up with a lot, including me often taking pictures of him! He will be sorely missed when he does go off to play ball in the sky but he has had a good life. Fingers crossed for some more time with him.

For 121 Pictures in 2021 #47 "Illustrate a book title" these are serrano and Thai chiles, both red and green to go on the cover of "The Devil's Dinner, a gastronomic and cultural history of chili peppers" by Stuart Walton. I should note that his use of "chili peppers is incorrect, anything referring to the plant or the pod itself should be spelled chile. The term chili should be only used to refer to a stew making use of chiles. This was borne out by extensive research on the internet, where, as we all know, everything is correct.

Thank you for taking the time to come and model for me!

Along the Colorado meander in Page, AZ, the Horseshoe Bend. If you even have a slight vertigo, like me, please stay a bit away from the edge, there is a sudden fall of several hundred feet. It was a bit windy that only added to my fear of getting blown away towards the edge. I used my tripod to get a bit more balance and to relax my fear shaken knees. But people around me were like monkeys or may be they have some hidden wings that come out if they slip as they were hanging out. All this for a cool selfie! Very irresponsible to your own life. I wonder what the tombstone might read -lost balance and fell off a cliff! Not a good way to go!

Coming back to this marvel, its a must see place if you are in or around Page. Just a small 0.75mile trail (a bit of a hike while coming back). Absolutely marvelous and will take blow your mind when you will first see it up close. While walking down towards it you will not have the faintest of an idea of what it would really looking like until you are at the edge! Its like a Taj Mahal hidden below waiting for you to find!

Hope you will like it! And be careful when you visit!

Illustrated are the government building and St. Florin Catholic Cathedral in downtown Vaduz, The Principality of Liechtenstein, a German-speaking microstate situated in the Alps between Switzerland and Austria. The principality is a semi-constitutional monarchy headed by the Prince of Liechtenstein; the Prince's extensive powers are equivalent to those of a President in a semi-presidential system.

Liechtenstein is Europe's fourth-smallest country, with an area of just over 160 square kilometres (62 square miles) and a population of 38,749. Divided into 11 municipalities, its capital is Vaduz, and its largest municipality is Schaan. It is also the smallest country to border two countries. (Wikipedia)

The Curious Hobby of Collecting Things (02)

The Times Weekly Issue 1920 – 21

100 years of the Times

A vast number of years ago I used to buy and sell second-hand books, mainly because I collected and it reduced the cost of collecting. However, since those far off days every once in a while I come across things I cannot resist buying. These next items entitled ‘The Times Weekly Edition with Illustrated covers, starts on 12th November 1920 and finishes 28th January 1921. This only represents 11 issues but it is filled with a whole variety of subjects including Politics, News, Sports, Fashions and General Advertising. Each issue contains approx. 24 pages and it’s amazing.

This is the second of many postings ……

➤ Your image must be an open-card-style diptych (not just side-by-side panels … see first two entries below for examples).

➤ Your diptych must portray an illustrated, self-created HAIKU OF EXACTLY 17 SYLLABLES** with the haiku on one side panel and the illustration on the other (though it’s okay if your illustration bleeds onto the haiku side).

➤ Your illustration must include purple and/or blue flower(s).

➤Also one or more black or dark-colored silhouettes (human and/or animal).

➤ NO WATER of any kind.

My guess is this suit wasn’t bought at M&S. The title is an oblique nod to Ray Bradbury.

新嘗祭とは、その年の収穫を感謝し来年の豊作を願う日本の行事です。「新」新穀(初穂)「誉」はご馳走を意味します。古来から続いており、毎年11月23日に皇居を始め、全国の神社において祭祀が行われます。

The Niiname Ritual is a Japanese event to give thanks for the year's harvest and wish for a good harvest next year. The word "新" means "new grain" and "誉" means "good cheer". It has been celebrated since ancient times and is held every year on the 23rd of November at the Imperial Palace and other shrines around the country.

This guy could hardly keep still from laughing! At last he did for about three seconds! Just time to take this shot!

I like this image because it seems to illustrate the dizzying way that recalling a memory seems to happen. We form patterns in our mind and then the solid details appear within.

A long walk with family in Glenfeshie resulted in no realistic entries for the "Suddenly" theme. The less said about my attempt to photograph a golden eagle the better, let's just say I'm not a wildlife photographer. The weather was overcast and the light was very flat, so it seemed there was no drama to be had in the scenery, which was peaceful.

Then I started to play about with the camera, trying out some ICM shots before I had a go at a zoom burst (which I hadn't had any success with before).

This is image of Achleum farmstead starts at around 270mm and closes in to about 240mm or so. In PP, I've straightened the image (wonky horizon = pet hate) and increased the clarity and contrast a little.

Illustrate attraction in a photograph today. #ds502

New research from the University of Washington indicates that the setting of children for sweets have a biological explanation. Apparently, the desire for sugar is related to the accelerated growth rate of this phase of life.

"The relationship between sweet and growth makes sense. When growth is fast, the body's caloric demand increases. Children are biologically compelled to like sweets because they fill a nutritional need, which causes them to seek energy sources, " explains one of Study author, Danielle Reed.

Explained: This is the delicious law of attraction!
