Leaving Boston on the ferry to Provincetown

A local Instagram group, @igersboston, organized a day trip to Provincetown on Cape Cod by getting 30 of us free tickets from @bostonharborcruises on the ferry. It was a great event and super fun!

My favorite activity was climbing the Pilgrim Monument - according to their brochure, it is 252 feet high and the climb is 116 stair steps and 60 ramps. Got my exercise for the day!

This used to be a pier.

Big news: my photo is going to be in a real life gallery and silent auction in downtown Boston! The gallery show is on Friday, Oct 21, and it will include one photo by me and 100+ other photos from other Boston-area photographers, for sale in a silent auction to benefit a domestic violence nonprofit. I've been having fun posting my photography online for awhile, but this will be the first time one of my photos will be displayed in a real physical gallery! I am so thrilled to be part of this event.

Boston-area people: if you're interested in attending, tickets to go to the event are free but you have to RSVP online ahead of time to get them - details and rsvp info are here : igersboston.com/event/gallery/

Also, if you're a photographer in the Boston area (however casual or serious) and want to go to events to socialize and shoot with other photographers, there are a lot of those events being organized on Instagram (and I haven't seen any being organized on Flickr, sadly).

So proud that my photo sold for $150 at last night's silent auction to benefit transitionhouse.org, a local nonprofit working to end domestic violence. Feels wonderful to be able to contribute my photography to a good cause. Thanks to the Fairmont Copley and the IGersBoston group for organizing this wonderful event!

There were multiple bidders on my photo, and also I heard there was a waitlist of 50+ people who couldn't attend the auction - so, I want to give those people and anyone else another chance to contribute to transition house via this photo:

For any sales of this photo through my SmugMug page (jcdy.smugmug.com) in the next 48 hours, I will donate 100% of the profit to transitionhouse.org!

(There's a wide range of prices, from small paper prints to large metal prints)

Another one from Saturday’s bus tour with @IGersBoston and @BosBRT - caught a jogger in midair through the bus window as we were driving along the river! I like to imagine he was trying to catch up with or outrun the bus. Shot with my Sony RX100 (processed the raw file in LR but then used used #skrwt to line everything up - somehow it was easier there than in LR).

While in Provincetown, we had an impromptu portrait shoot.

The Instagram account @IGersBoston hosted a great photowalk yesterday as part of instagram's #WWIM14 - worldwide instameet 14. I guess that means there have been 14 of them, but I only went to my first one last spring and this was my second.

I can't resist those pink sails from #sailcbi - shot from a moving @bosbrt bus with a Sony RX100v on the @igersboston #IgersBostonBRT #BosBRT tour last Saturday. What a view!

My photo on display at last night's gallery and silent auction! I was so excited to see it on the wall and happy that it sold to benefit Transition House, a nonprofit against domestic violence.

There were 120 photos on display; this shows the portion of the wall where mine was.

Here you can see there were a lot of people there!

Afterwards they said there were 250 people there, and they raised $3000 for transition house. There were 120 photos for sale and the highest overall bid was $100.
