Imagine how this parasitoid wasp must feel, going through life labeled as an ant...and a killer of cows, neither of which is accurate!
It is easy to assume this wingless female is a large ant, thus its common name!
The males have wings...and don't sting, although the female's sting is said to be the most painful insect sting on earth! They don't actually kill cows, but can inflict terrible pain to anything that comes in contact!
This one scurried by us at the campout and I grabbed the camera for my first shots of a female...below, see a winged male that does look like the wasp it is!
At the first glance from the other angle I thought those are Cokes until I saw Pepsi written on the cans. Are Coke & Pepsi merging?

I got some of the Battle Damaged Capes from David at Cape Madness, so I decided to make some of the different versions of Batman! I have some even better ones I did add to this pic because I thought they deserved their own scenes!
Left to right they are:
Bat-Mite, Batman Incorperated, Dark Claw, Zombie Batman, Kirk Langstrom Batman, Green Lantern Batman, and Sinestro Corps Batman.
Let me know what one's your favorite, if I should make individual builds for any of these.
[Please comment if you favorite]
Elly Sallingboe's 'Sally B' is the only Flying B-17 in Europe, perhaps even the only one outside the US.
These days the aircraft carries the identity of 'Sally B' on the left side, while the markings of 'Memphis Belle' is still present on the right side of her nose since her appearence in the Warner Bros. 1990 film.
The person peeking out of the window is pilot Peter Kuypers.
CSXT GP39-2 4304 and a mate pass the crossing watchman tower at Blue Island, IL. The 4304 began life as Reading 3414 and became Delaware & Hudson 7414 at the start of Conrail. It was repainted gray during Guilford's ownership of the D&H and numbered 383 before being acquired by CSX.
The building form most closely associated with New York City is the skyscraper, which has shifted many commercial and residential districts from low-rise to high-rise. Surrounded mostly by water, the city has amassed one of the largest and most varied collection of skyscrapers in the world.

I've seen this Cessna 172E at a few different aviation events in the southwest, and I absolutely love it. Note being a huge serial/reg guy, I never looked into its pedigree before, and was surprised to see that the serial stenciled on the side - 64-15720 - actually belonged to an AGM-12 Bullpup missile.
The lead engine is KCS, the two trailing are CSX. They are on the CP Chicago Sub at Genoa, IL, on former MILW-SOO-IMRL-DME/ICE trackage, passing under the CN, former IC-CCP trackage.
With engineer Rivera on the horn for the multiple crossings in Newman, the eastbound Decatur to Paris freight train rolls slowly through town at 15mph with a heavy train in tow, topping out at 9400 tons with 6000 horsepower doing the trick.
The lead unit, WAMX 4002, was originally a GP40-2LW, but has been downgraded to GP38-2 specs.

A CSX train, staffed by a CN crew, rolling by a classic Conrail milepost with a standard CN whistle post standing in background.
What to think ?
We're deep in Québec province Montérégie area, watching CSX Z847 train, it's tail end still rolling downhill from the small hill south of Ridge, passing QM196 on it's way toward Massena,NY.
In about six miles, at Carrs siding, the Montréal-based Canadian National crew will swap trains with CSX LO29 job who ran from Massena and each crew will head back toward their respective terminal.
This job operates daily out of Montréal's Taschereau Yard, using a combination of GTR and NYC trackage in order to reach the American border at Fort Covington,NY permitting a fast exchange of wood and paper products between CN and CSX.
This is former Canadian National trackage of the Massena subdivision, once extending 84 miles from Massena,NY to Brossard,QC. When CN sold this trackage to Conrail in mid-90's, the later simply changed the milepost from Syracuse,NY, the junction point with the Water Level Route, to the junction with Canadian Pacific Adirondack subdivision at Adirondack Jct, just south of Montréal island.
CN crews only operates from Cecile Jct (QM214.1) to Arnold (QM189.4) in order to reach the 10 007 foot-long meeting point with their American counterpart. From Beauharnois (QM225) to Adirondack Jct (QM238.4), the former NYC trackage was mothballed since more than 30 years.
Lots of history over that piece of track.

Less than two months out of the assembly plant, Union Pacific C30-7 No. 2962 rests in Provo, Utah on Oct. 9, 1977. In May of 1978, the entire C30-7 class was renumbered, and this unit became UP 2402. By Nov. of 1992, it became a trailing unit-only (by removal of cab signals, refrigerator, toilet, and cab seats) and was renumbered UP B2402. By Nov. 1996, it was renumbered a fourth (and last) time on the Union Pacific roster as UP 402. Info from UtahRails.net
Dissociative identity disorderis a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a condition in which a single person displays multiple distinct identities or personalities (known as alter egos or alters), each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. The diagnosis requires that at least two personalities routinely take control of the individual's behavior with an associated memory loss that goes beyond normal forgetfulness; in addition, symptoms cannot be due to drug use or medical condition.
There is a great deal of controversy surrounding the topic. There are many commonly disputed points about DID. These viewpoints critical of DID can be quite varied, with some taking the position that DID does not actually exist as a valid medical diagnosis, and others who think that DID may exist but is either always or usually an adverse side effect of therapy. DID diagnoses initially appeared to be almost entirely confined to the North American continent, but later surveys found cases on other continents but at significantly lower rates.

The names are pretty random... whatever happened to pop into my head. Except "Sybil"... anyone know why?
Whitney was the first to get it. It was Sybil Dorsett who had the disorder in the 50's. There was a movie about it... NOT to be confused with Sybil Trelawney (from Harry Potter)

Widespread, common, and conspicuous, the Killdeer calls its name as it flies over farmland and other open country. Like other members of the plover family, this species is often found at the water's edge, but it also lives in pastures and fields far from water. At times, it nests on gravel roofs or on lawns. Many a person has been fooled by the bird's "broken-wing" act, in which it flutters along the ground in a show of injury, luring intruders away from its nest.
The Killdeer breeds from Newfoundland, the south rim of
Hudson Bay, and the southern Yukon and Northwest
Territories south to central Mexico and the Gulf coast.
When this one saw me it squatted and sat perfectly still like a Wilson's Snipe would do, instead of running off and then flying like a Killdeer would most often do! I found a Wilson's Snipe not 50ft from it! Maybe it thought it was a snipe instead of a Killdeer! (smile)
I found it along Peavine Road in Osceola County, Florida.

This was a real shock to see. No editing whatsoever, this vehicle had to be pulled over here to contact the garage, as it carried the registration of DE20054 (YX59BYF) on the front of it. Yes, this is against the law hence the photo isn't the best but I had to get it before it was changed.
Or a case of identity theft perhaps? My user 'avatar' for logging onto my computer seems to have changed by itself to this, part of a windows update perhaps. Whatever the reason, another 'squared circle' added to the project.

This building always fascinates me. It seems to be many things at the same time while also being a dwelling.
Happy Window Wednesday.
Today there is nothing more precious than seeing my daughters with their passports in hand. A year ago we began the process of registering them as British citizens. These arrived an hour ago... Let the celebrations begin!
