Va ser en convertir-se en mare quan va decidir que es volia dedicar a acompanyar mares i pares. Des de l'any 1997 ha treballat com a assessora voluntària de lactància materna a l'associació Mamas-Alletament matern de Sabadell de la qual n'és cofundadora. En aquest grup va conèixer una mare de Santa Perpètua amb la qual manté amistat. De fet, d'aquesta trobada va sorgir Mamas a Santa Perpètua, que es va convertir en Mamalleta'm. Al 1999 va formar-se com a doula i des de 2002 és educadora de massatge infantil per a nadons i infants. L'any 2006 va obtenir l'acreditació d'IBCLC (Consultora internacional certificada en lactància materna). Gràcies a això ha format part del comitè de lactància materna i docent de professionals sanitaris a l'Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu. Combina la docència i l'acompanyament a famílies amb xerrades sobre lactància i criança.

First, the group met with Beth Iovinelli, BSN, RN, IBCLC, at Milk Street Lactation Support Center, who gave a tour and discussed how she created her business assisting women and new mothers with prenatal education, and postpartum and lactation support.

Nancy is excited to be a part of the Midwifery Group at Swedish and is
looking forward to caring for you and your family. She graduated from
the University of Colorado, Health Science Center in 2000 as a CNM
(Certified Nurse Midwife). During this time she has had a variety of
experience in women’s health, birthing, newborn and lactation. One of
the most rewarding experiences was at a free standing birth center in
the Philippines and at Mountain Midwifery Center. She worked at Kaiser in their Perinatal Home Care department where she developed her
lactation knowledge and earned her IBCLC (International Board Certified
Lactation Consultant). Nancy is married with three grown children all
of which were delivered by Certified Nurse Midwives. This is of course
what inspired her to become a CNM. It is her pleasure to be a part of
your journey.

Today we had a beautiful birth at NSMC where the dad was unable to be with his wife due to having to stay with their 6 year old daughter at home. Sue Nevins RN IBCLC, Karen Stevenson RN IBCLC and Dr. Rachel Consoli stepped in as mom’s family supporting her at the birth. They assisted with Skin to Skin Lactation, Nursing care, and even became the photographer to let dad in via camera to see his wife and new baby! Their kindness to our patient made a very difficult situation turn into a joyous event. Thank you to all of them for giving Gabrielle and her new baby girl a beautiful birth.
