After looking out the window for the better part of the morning, Big Brown finally showed up with his and hers ipads. Still messing around with getting them setup but my quick impression is they rock.

This is an iPad painting, made with a beta version of iColorama. I used some of Simone Gruber's images as sources to build this. Made for the Collaborations group on Facebook.

I ran into a thought from Maya Angelou, in the process of doing this. It seemed to fit:

"Without courage, we can not practice any other virtue with consistency."

We got the iPad 2! We were surprised to get the call that it arrived. WALL-E peeks in the box and feels a sense of deja vu.

Apple announced the iPad.

Because I wanted to know the size, I made it with corrugated cardboard.

It was quite big.

I never think that I want to buy it now...

Traditional Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Ganache

iPad cake as requested by the client for her boyfriend's birthday on ... (look at the date icon on the cake) ... 13 September.

She also requested to have 2 beer bottles on the cake somewhere. I can only assume that he likes to drink beer :D

Everything is edible - Apple Logo & Icons were handcut and hand-painted.

I normally dont like doing 'gadgets' cakes - but surprisingly, I had so much fun with this particular cake. I added the blue ribbon/ bow which I think give it that last final touch and make it more my style of cake :)

So, we finally bought an iPad for Ryan. We had been planning to get one since few months back, but didn't feel like getting the original version since the new one was coming :). So last week it finally arrived here in Singapore and I queued for 2 hours to get this iPad 2.

The plan was to just install educational apps and books inside it so Ryan can spend his time better than watching TV, but I think that plan is not going very well as he's not that interested in reading :)) Once I put some of his favorite movies and a few games in it, he's been using it for those :))

To use as an iPad background / wallpaper, view the original size image first (1024x1024), then download that resolution! Enjoy =)

I also have a blog post that explains how to set them as backgrounds over at: www.slrphotographyguide.com/blog/ipad/sunset-ipad-wallpap...

Well it's not the best shot in the world I was in too busy of a hurry to play.

It's fast, it's fun and heavier then I thought and collects a lot of dust and fingerprints

And more fun then I had imaged by the commercials! It's addictive

Plus it does a lot of things I never dreamed of. The thing that shocked us all the most is just how many apps there are already for it and how much fun using all the fingers on all your hands at once for a game can be.

My fav apps so far

1. Pocket Pond by far the most fun I've hand in years so real you feel like you have a pond on your iPad with real fish and dragonflys and they interact as you use your fingers. Drag your fingers slowly through the water and they a look, strike the water hard and they are afraid and the water splashes, and it's FREE!

2. Pandora free radio over the internet fashioned after what you want

3. SketchBook draw with your fingers!!

4. Virtuoso HD play piano on your iPad with all 10 fingers!!!

5. Marvel comics

6. Wikipanion

7. PvZ HD a demented little addictive game!

8. Soundhound, identifies any song in 10 seconds or less.

9. ABC TV

10. Kindle all the books on Amazon

11. iBooks books that interact live you would not believe

12. Tap Tap Radiation like dance dance revolution only for your fingers.

13. Dictionary.com

14. iMDB

15. AliceLite Alice in Wonderland the Interactive book app

I found another silent clock, this one doesn't tick and is on my iPad.

I'd set my mind on getting myself an iPad2 the moment it was announced but due to stock shortages, I lost interest over time (I wasn't as desperate to wait in line nor reserve one and Japan's launch date was pushed back due to the earthquake crisis at the time).

One weekend a few weeks back, I walked by the electronics store and out of curiosity, thought I'd check to see if any were available. As luck would have it, a handful were available on that day.

I've never owned an iPad before but I've grown used to it over the past few weeks and find it very useful for reading, managing my schedule, and recording everyday memories whenever I don't have my camera with me. Definitely a necessity in my bag everyday now : )
