This waterfall flows into the Pastaza river.
Its name is due to the dimension it has and the white color that resembles the veil of a bride.
From the road Baños - Mera - Puyo
There is a path to reach the waterfall, then there is a suspension bridge over 100 meters long over the Pastaza River, here the tour ends and you can bathe, take pictures and admire the wonderful landscape.
It is located 11 kilometers from Baños. It is approximately 40 meters high with a single fall.
Go through the Crack to Heaven:
To pass through the place you must go half inclined, this crack is of natural origin and crosses here to reach the balcony of the Pailón del Diablo, once here you can take a break and rest. Continuing you can appreciate some wonderful rock steps, reaching a second balcony, this being the best since from here you can touch the crystal clear water of the waterfall, get wet, feel the adrenaline that fills you when you feel so alive surrounded by nature.

The city is also a Roman Catholic religious center, as some Catholic believers say that the Virgin Mary appeared nearby a waterfall. Due to this belief, a sculpture of the virgin, called Virgen de Agua Santa, was placed in the city's cathedral.
The history of the town has been intimately linked to the highly-active Tungurahua volcano. In October 1999, all 17,000+ residents were forced to evacuate the city for weeks.

"Illinois Central" ET44AC 3008 takes the lead of CN 424 at the former junction of the Strathroy Sub and Ilderton Spur/Exeter Sub. Last year, the heritage units 3008 and 3023 were used on a special service in Wisconsin, where they both had their "IPO 25" stickers removed. This has left them both with zero external CN markings.

Pachamama is a goddess revered by the indigenous people of the Andes. She is also known as the earth/time mother. In Inca mythology, Pachamama is a fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting, embodies the mountains, and causes earthquakes. She is also an ever-present and independent deity who has her own self-sufficient and creative power to sustain life on this earth. Her shrines are hallowed rocks, or the boles of legendary trees, and her artists envision her as an adult female bearing harvests of potatoes and coca leaves. The four cosmological Quechua principles – Water, Earth, Sun, and Moon – claim Pachamama as their prime origin. Priests sacrifice llamas, cuy (guinea pigs), and elaborate, miniature, burned garments to her. Pachamama is the mother of Inti the sun god and Mama Killa the moon goddess. Pachamama is said to also be the wife of Inti, her son.
In pre-Hispanic culture, Pachamama was often a cruel goddess eager to collect her sacrifices. After the Spanish colonization of the Americas, conversion to Roman Catholicism took place and the figure of the Virgin Mary was equated with that of the Pachamama for many of the indigenous people.
As Andean cultures form modern nations, Pachamama remains benevolent, giving, and a local name for Mother Nature. Thus, many in South America believe that problems arise when people take too much from nature because they are taking too much from Pachamama.

i know many of you are in autumn but us folks here in manila are still going through a wee bit of the typhoon season.
ipu ipo is the tagalog (most widely used dialect in the philippines) term for cyclone / tornado. BUT... i don't think this is and i guess it must just be a really heavy down pour. this was taken on one of the rainiest weeks i can remember. had a friend over that day so you can check out his version of this post apocalyptic scene. mind you, his version was taken with the nikon d700-one of the most amazing camera's i have ever held with my oily paws. you can also compare the colors and details that the sensor picks up between my teeny weeny canon g7 and the machine gun full frame nikon d700.
this is a 3 exposure hdr with photomatix and further processed with photoshop.
